This mod makes domesticatable animals' overall breeding time configurable using Configlib, adjusting their time between pregnancies, gestation time, and hours until children become adults, allowing faster or slower generations.
This is useful for shorter lived worlds which would otherwise not reach the later/more convenient animal generations, or to slow reproduction for a more challenging playthrough.
By default, harvestable drops for supported animals are also reduced based on breeding time. This only affects reduced breeding time settings. If breeding time is increased, instead of reduced, the standard drop rate will be used.
By default, breeding times are all halved, but it's expected that you would adjust these as needed per animal/mod.
Supported vanilla animals:
- Chickens
- Goats
- Hares
- Pigs
- Sheep
Supported mod animals:
- Cats
- Equus
- Fauna of the Stone Age
- Legacy of the Phanerozoic
- Monoceros
- More Animals
Note that this mod may be updated frequently to keep up with referenced mods
To do:
Extend mod support:
- Wool & More [issue]: (reduce wool drops for vanilla and modded animals, add settings for deer breeding rate)
Not planned:
- Reducing non-harvesting resources from animals (ex: milk, wool from shearing)
- Altering stats for non-domesticatable animals

Don't know if this needs to be addressed, but I've got the mod downloaded on a personal server, I change the default settings of the mod, save, return to the server, and the settings have return to the original defaults. I don't know if the changes are happening and I'm not seeing it or the changes are not saving.
Should have an update soon. Waiting for the mods in that series to settle down

Oh heck yeah, this is the kinda notification you love opening the page to.
Thank you for the update!
thank you so much for the update!!
Mod will be updated, but not this week!
Tl;dr: Current mod version no work in 1.21 (duh), need to wait for update, praise overlord Billiam
This is admittedly one of the more difficult mods to troubleshoot but after playing with version 0.0.22 (for 1.20.12) in the new 1.21 release build, i can pretty confidently say that it's not working anymore.
The mod shows up as loaded and can be configured via the configlib menu just fine, but none of it takes effect anymore. I've tested this over the span of several hours with bighorn sheep, valais goats, the new hares (brown and river specifically), chickens and pigs. Young animals take ages to grow up and pregnancies barely progressed, while the config settings were set as low as 0.05 for some of them, so i'm guessing it is taking vanilla values instead and completely ignores the mod.
An update would be very much appreciated, though i'm assuming there might be a fair bit of work for a major version change.
ValariaLyte That's the question of the century for MANY mods.
Will this be updated to 1.21?
Willobe Should be fixed!
Voilyn What do your settings look like? Are you sure you didn't set them to a lower breeding speed? Higher is slower here.
@Equus setting causing an error, they changed the structure in wildhorse.json Billiam

I've changed the settings on the vanilla animals to breed at max speed. My muskox got pregnant and it still said x out of 76 days. Didn't get any shorter
Anotzibartschad Thanks! Should be fixed
Hey, this mod is having issues with your mod. They probably changed the file structure or something like that. It's one of the legacy of the phanerozoic mods. Other than that, great mod!
Kyrju Where did you see that configlib was not compatible with 1.20.12?
It is really puzzling why coniglib is not updated to version 1.20.12 when other mods that depend on this mod like this have this version 1.20.12. I have the latest version VintageStory 1.20.12 I would like to download this mod but I will not be able to configure it because Configlib does not work for me because it has an old version :(
Aniriteron These are currently listed under a single "Legacy of the Phanerozoic breeding rate" config item.
i may be stupid, but when i open it up, it does not show any of the Legacy of the Phanerozoic animals?
Billiam Thanks for the quick answer!
ssunny2008 Those 0.5 multipliers mean that the time has been reduced by 50%. If you wanted to use the default vanilla times, you'd set those to 1.0 instead
BrotherMorse No, portions are not reduced
Hi there,
just a short question... are those 0.5 multipliers the default time the game / several mods are using or is it already reduced by 50% at this point?
Thanks in advance and thanks for the mod. Helps a lot if i don´t have to reconfigure dozens of Jsons. ^^
Does reduced breeding time also reduce the amount of portions an animal needs to eat?
That's fair, I dunno, I don't care much about generational increase compared to... not needing to wait for a century to get eggs from them haha. I'll just stick to chickens I suppose.
> Any ETA on the FOTSA pack with the emus etc?
I'm not sure. From the description, emus are not domesticatable, and don't increase in generation (which is the point of the mod), but you can breed them by feeding from a trough, so they're in a weird gray area as far as the mod's purpose goes
Billiam I'm personally modifying values individually. I would be heartbroken if my modifier for some of the for-fun animals would be merged with my modifier for "useful" animals.
Any ETA on the FOTSA pack with the emus etc? I just looked at some of these Emus having about 80 days left until they'll breed haha
Question to anybody using this mod: Are you customizing the Fauna of the Stone Age mod values individually, or should those mods' settings be grouped together into one setting, like Legacy of the Phanerozoic?
nomashawn If you have ConfigLib installed, you can access the settings by clicking the "Mod settings" button in the pause/escape menu.
Hi! Love this mod a lot, it's working very well :)
I'm new to modding vintage story & mods in general. How do I access the configuration panel? thank you <3
Thanks homie, you're awesome
MyNameWill I'll take a look
Thank you for adding this mod! Makes my life so much easier lol. I don't want to be that guy, but do you plan on adding support for the various Dinosaur mods? No worries if not, I just think it'd be neat!
Billiam Thank you very much!
Billiam Thanks a lot :)
James122603 Deathstrich Sure, will be added in the next release
Might I suggest of adding support for the Monoceros mod? I shall suggest vice versa to them as well.
Could you add support for More Animals mod? Thank you in advance.
