About

This mod introduces a diverse collection of ornithomimosaurians to Vintage Story! From the iconic Gallimimus to its more obscure cousins, these fast and lightly built dinosaurs resemble giant flightless birds, and were among the most agile creatures of their time.

Though they are omnivores and generally peaceful, they are very skittish and will dash off at remarkable speeds.

Domestication

Spoiler!

To hatch eggs, you simply place it down on the ground, they will hatch after sometimes. Important that the area is lit and also big enough for the baby dino to hatch into, it it is too small they will not hatch until there is more space.

Similarly growing will take and require enough space for them grow into their adult form.

Feeding adults, they are herbivorous, you use a large trough or throw the food on the ground, they require 70 portions max(less depending on species).

Less skittish after each generation, you can lead them by the rope after 2 geneations, no longer flee after 10 geneations

Riding

Spoiler!
You craft a saddle and bridle specific to their family, this would allow you ride them. Only applies to Deinocheirus, Paraxenisaurus, Gallimimus

Hitching Station

Spoiler!

If have dinosaur mount that you want to stay put, you can craft a hitching station,

Simply place it down near your mount and it will stay close to it,

If the dinosaur is not domesticated or still too wild, it may knock down the hitching station

Loving the dinosaur mods, but I have to agree with everyone else, the spawning rate is super duper high, I'm seeing literally dozens of these guys all over the place now in a small area. Also the dino calls seem to cut off at the end. Otherwise, thank you for making the dinosaur mods! As a dino fan, I love them!

Carat Thanks for those tips, hopefully I've done it right and they'll help!

greatorder Thanks for that too, I've given that a go so hopefully there won't be quite so many!

Just wanted to point out that the biomes.json is pointing to the incorrect file, thus preventing spawns for these dinos with the Biomes mod. It currently contains:

 > "file": "therizinosauridae:entities/land/therizinosauridae.json",

everyone commenting Rudely should take a second to remember that mods are free and hard to make. consider leaving a nice comment instead of demanding an update. ;)

also, love your mods! i still go back from my dedicated 1.21 world to 1.20 from time to time to play with all of 'em. thank you so much for making & sharing them :)

💬 ShinyDragon, Sep 20th at 3:02 PM

I dont want nests to spawn in the wild, but im also assuming when i breed dinosaurs they dont make nests? So its fine if I disable them right?

💬 HistoryMarshal, Sep 18th at 6:41 PM

I hope you soon update this to the neweset version.

💬 DraRex386, Sep 10th at 3:26 PM

Pls update to the recent version

laughinggas Please, I beg of you, I BEG of you, please for the love of all that is holy, do something about the frequency of the idle/roar sounds and the spawn rates of these. These particular dinos are spawning at 10x the rate of any other dinosaur, I assume because you have the minimum spawn quantity per type set to 7 with a max of 12, but there are SO MANY TYPES, so it keeps spawning hordes upon hordes of them, and they are ALL MAKING THE GODFORSAKEN WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH noise on loop of their idle/roar sound. I'm losing my mind. I can't even turn off the entity noises to try and stop the sound, because you have it coded as an Effect instead of an entity sound. Its a constant 24/7 WAAAAAAAAAAGH playing on loop as my FPS dies to the raptor hordes. I LOVE the mods you made except for these chickens from hell

💬 Carat, Aug 31st at 6:11 PM

The spawn rates for this group are bugged because the entities file is missing the maxQuantityByGroup section. If anyone wants to fix it for themselves, adding "maxQuantityByGroup": { "code": "ornithomimosauria-*", "maxQuantity": 2 }, in the "spawnconditions" and the "runtime" section of the ornithomimosauria.json should cap things so they're not going crazy all over your world. Also, if you're not seeing any adults spawn, for this or any Legacy dinos, it's because of the new mount gaits in 1.21. If you go to the mod config for this (and any other Legacy dino) and set rideable: true -> to false, mature dinos will spawn again. Obviously, you can't ride them anymore though, so it's a trade off until this series is updated.

💬 JokoJose, Aug 23rd at 2:29 PM

I am experiencing extremely spawn rates, is there a way you can give us the option to adjust spawn rates? I understand you want the mod to spawn the dinos, but when you add all of your mods that over-populate the map, the game freezes all the time due to lagg.

💬 greatorder, Aug 16th at 1:33 PM (modified Aug 16th at 7:00 PM)

1.0.3 also have ludicrous spawn rates. Just downloaded 1.0.4, so I'll see if spawns are back to normal values with that.

One thing I've noticed with these mods is the sounds the dinos make carry over an insane distance, don't seem to have a direction to them so you can't tell where they are by sound, and some of them end suddenly. The main one I've noticed on that last point is a horn-like sound that just abruptly ends mid-honk.

EDIT: I think I might have found it, the spawn rate is at 0.01 instead of 0.001 when you go into the config. At least it was on my end.

💬 greatorder, Aug 15th at 11:05 AM

Well, I'm about to try out all these dino mods. Thank you from someone who desperately wanted to enjoy ARK but found it was just too grindy, buggy, unoptimised and riddled with bad design decisions.

💬 laughinggas , Aug 7th at 11:54 AM

Legdad

Alright I'll take another look at the spawn rate

💬 Legdad, Aug 4th at 3:47 AM

Also having bonker spawns in 1.20.12 with most recent version of mod. I was also wondering, are these the dinos making the ear shattering horn calls that can be heard from miles around?

💬 pudgydumpling, Jun 27th at 5:11 AM

laughinggas

Yes, latest version 👍

💬 laughinggas , Jun 26th at 2:55 AM

pudgydumpling

I'm assuming you are on the latest version, and they spawn in with the recent update in crazy numbers still or were they spawned in on previous version?

💬 pudgydumpling, Jun 25th at 10:40 PM

Spawn rate is absolutely crazy for me as well. On a multiplayer server hosted on Host Havoc so the esc menu thing doesn't work - have to edit the mod files themselves to adjust spawns. Even then, with rates turned down to about 10% of what they are by default, we're still being swamped by these guys! Awesome mod otherwise!

💬 laughinggas , Jun 11th at 3:25 AM

EmuCat

I will take a second look at their spawn rate

💬 EmuCat, Jun 9th at 5:01 PM

Yep, also having crazy spawns here! And for some reason they all run around in circles? Rabies mod when, lmao.

💬 laughinggas , Jun 6th at 5:53 AM

unhallowed

That's perculiar because I can't say I've had this mod drown out other creature, I'll investigate and tweak it further, for now use the modconfig either through the ui or file(I recommend the file since you can type small numbes in there)

💬 unHallowed, Jun 5th at 8:54 PM

I'm having the same problem with the spawnrate, even after your update. There are so many of the things that their lowing actually completely drowns out all the ambient music and the calls of other animals/dinos. Even with an admin sword, there's no keeping up with pruning their numbers either. In the last ten minutes, I've killed probably 200 of the poor beasts and they're STILL the most common, if only animal, in my vicinity - and causing lag spikes that make the client unresponsive every time a new flock spawns in, which is every few minutes.

While I understand that they're suppose to be basically the dino version of chickens, I actually haven't seen a single chicken since adding these birdies. Or and sheep, deer, wolves, bears, fish even. That's probably just chance, but might also speak to the sheer volume of them that are overwhelming the area I've been in. I have all your dino mods AND all the Fauna of the Stone Age mods installed, and the extent of other things I've seen since adding these dinos today has been one pack of triceratops (3 individuals), one pair of stegos, and a family of elephants (5 individuals) - out of over 20 other animal mods. And like a thousand dinobirds XD.

Again, that might just be chance, but before this mod I saw notable diversity - both mod animals AND vanilla animals - and now I don't.

💬 laughinggas , Jun 5th at 3:20 AM

Rasvangr

They are meant to be as ubiquitous as chickens, hence te spawnrate. That being said, I've tweaked their group spawn size further, fall damage values. Also I forgot to change their default values for modconfig from what I normally use, so now it should show you their actual default value.

💬 Rasvangr, Jun 4th at 11:41 PM

Hey I'm not sure if this is intentional but these guys are spawning in some crazy quantities. I keep having several dozen of various species zooming all over the place and lowering my framerate. They also seem to take fall damage all the time! I tried to lower the spawn rate but it looks like it might already be as low as it can go. They're very cute though, I like them a lot!
