This mod was created for those who are afraid of long cold winters or planning long trips in which there is no time to cook.
👇
Pemmican is a Native American food. It is made from bushmeat, fat and berries carefully pounded with something heavy.
Сan be stored for years, especially if well salted or wrapped in something. It tastes better hot or in dishes.
1) If you combine few bushmeat, fat, berries and some stones or hammer - you can craft raw pemmican.
2) Raw pemmican can be stored at shelves or in playes/chests inventory to dry into normal pemmican.
3) Pemmican can be salted to increase his lifetime even more.
4) Pemmican and salted Pemmican can be cooked at firepit for even more calories and some healing.
5) Salted pemmican can combine with rushmat and rope to package it. Packaged pemmican can be stored for years.
Rusks. Technology is as old as the world. Thinly sliced and dehydrated bread that can be stored in a dry place for a very long time. It tastes good in dishes and saturates well.
1) Bake some perfect bread and slice it with knife.
2) Bake slices even more into oven - you get rusks.
Where you can use all of it? Well, yes you can just eat it. But what if..
You can use pemmican and rusks into stews and soups! You can have a dish that fulfill almost all your diet.
Is stew you can combine both pemmican and rusks as main ingredient.
In soup you can use it as a secondary ingredient.
Mushrooms. The ability to dry mushrooms in the oven and marinate them in brine will increase the shelf life of this product. And if you have the opportunity - make mushroom pate - a very nutritious and easy-to-use dish that lasts for a very long time. Of course, new mushroom ingredients can be used in stews and soups. But you can cook only edible mushrooms.
Create alcohol beverages from mushrooms: beer, ale, and whiskey. But be careful, not all mushrooms are suitable.
Vintage meat. Yes, this is the same meat, which does not spoil at all and heals a little. Now you can craft it! Although first you will need to make salted meat and anoint it well with honey. After that, let it lie down for a long time. If you have enough meat, salt, honey and time - you can have food that never spoils.
Caramel. Fruit and honey can be used to make a Fruit Mix, which will turn into a Pastille when it dries. You can bake the Pastille in the oven to make Caramel, which does not spoil at all, is very filling and very convenient for traveling.
Soy milk. By squeezing soybeans through a fruit press, you can get soy milk. If you have problems with livestock and have extra soybeans, this is a good, though not very profitable, alternative. And yes, you can make cheese out of it! Yes, I know that in reality the process is “a little” longer and it is closest to the real thing in Expanded Food, but you must admit that it is a little easier:3
Medicines from flowers. Very primitive medicines that have little effect but are very easy to create. If you have problems with horsetail and reed, this is an alternative option to be treated at least somehow. Only some flowers can be used.
Powdered milk is a great way to keep your dairy product fresh. Salt the milk in the barrel and boil the mixture to a powder in the cooking pot. Milk powder in the right place will last for years. Dissolve the powder in water to make milk again.
👇
-Green algae are edible. They can be added to food everywhere instead of vegetables. They can be pickled in brine. It can also be used as a green dye.
-Brown algae are the basis for new universal fertilizers and for the creation of textile threads.
-Red algae are used as a red dye and to create fertilizers.
-It is also possible to grind coral into lime in a millstone.
I added the generation of brown and red algae. The brown ones grow in cold waters, while the red ones will be more common in tropical ones. In order to have both, you will have to travel :3
👇
New crops:
🌽Corn - grows in temperate latitudes, produces few but nutritious cobs that can be fried, baked in the oven, added to dishes, ground into flour and made into bread or crackers, pressed into oil, made whiskey and much more.
🥔Potatoes - a vegetable that is easy to grow, produces a stable yield, and can be stored for a long time. They can be prepared in many ways and added to dishes, pickled, or made into chips using corn oil.It is also an excellent raw material for alcohol. Potato starch keeps well for long and can be used as a fixative for dyeing fabrics or as a glue for repairing broken items.
🍭Sugar beets do not like heat, sugar cane does not like cold, but both of these crops are excellent sources of sugar. Boil their juice into a sweet syrup and use it in your dishes, or boil sugar or make various alcoholic beverages such as rum or beetroot vodka so that valuable calories do not spoil as quickly and taste better.
✅All of these plants are found in certain climatic conditions around the world.
✅You can create their seeds from the finished harvest to propagate the plants.
✅All new dishes are ingredients for vanilla dishes.
✅By-products from sugar production can be fed to animals.
✅You can extract oil from corn kernels.
✅Sugar can be used to make caramel, sugar syrup, or distilled into alcohol without an intermediate stage.
⚠️To ferment juice or syrup into wort, add any fruit to a barrel containing the appropriate liquid.
Added compatibility with Hydrate or Diedrate and Food Shelves
Red meat can now be used to make pemmican.
Fixed bugs after the transition to 1.21.

Original raw pemmican craft idea was in XarenHypr`s Pemmican(continued), so i go further.
Some concepts were taken from the RayoRey'і Dojo Fibras mod. (I was asked to add this mechanic to my server and I did it without knowing that this mod existed🤭)
Also thanks to BrazilPirate with his Brazil Pirate's Foods and BurntToast with Farm Crops - A Farm to Table Revival for help with models and textures.
Also try my other mods:
1) Slings Progression

Food Shelves
The Critters Pack.
Primitive survival.(?)
1) Hydrate or Diedrate -
2) Food Shelves -
4) The Critters Pack -
6) Floral Zones
7) Truth and Beauty: Detailed Animals.
Farm Crops - A Farm to Table Revival

I have an issue with the recepie for potato wort, it says that it need something else in the barrel for the pic is missing
Thank you so much for making this mod! It's great for our server, where some folks play infrequently.
Would love to see compatibility added for the Herbarium suite - specifically Wildcraft: Fruits and Nuts.
I know thats a big ask, though.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Currently, beets (the vegetable) are longer lasting than the sugar you process out of them, making processing sugar an actual loss of preserve time. It is more effective to store raw beets and process them whenever they're halfway through their shelf life (which is quite long) into sugar for recipes. Please fix this, sugar should last longer than the actual beets!!
Pemmican and salted milk are a godsend for winter, but I wish you didn't take away the capability of making seawater sources, sometimes one's base is too far away from the ocean to do repeated trips to get saltwater for salt...
MrFlame - was wondering if you have a github repo, i noticed the xskills behaviors don't have any corresponding patches to disable them when xlib is absent. Fixed it in a custom patch, was wondering about the github repo so me/others can contribute.
How is compatibility with expanded foods/culinary artillery going?
the model for the seed bags is too big!!! (when placed on the ground)
Unsure if this has been posted already, but it seems that using pastilla or caramel in meal recipes degrades to just honey upon completion. Is this a known bug or? Using the latest 0.5.4 version, but been experiencing this in earlier ones as well.
Is there a reason why the new version '0.5.3' has the download for version '0.2.3' attached to it?
So, the recipe for potato wort is 'some amount of potato juice in a barrel plus one fruit', but, after fermenting with this i got a barrel containing 1 liter of potato wort in the barrel and 14.99 liters of potato juice, as an object, in the barrel's input slot. I can't do anything with the potato juice object as it's not in a bucket and can't be placed in a bucket.
Was the recipe actually one fruit per liter?
Xenomorph311 Rusks act as Hardtack, with the bonus of being usable in some meals.
Is there hardtack in this mod?
Xynjy The galettes are already in Expanded Food, and as soon as it is fully updated, me with its developer will make our mods fully compatible.
DrDumbass thank you!
Crash when try to see crafting with mallard duck egg from "The Critters Pack".
Sure, the mod don't have an oficial update to 1.21.5 but i'm saying either way
Here's a food for thought! consider adding hardtack to the mod.
Love the mod! Found a bit of a visual bug. When cooking potatoes or corn in a pot, the model for the cooked food is invisible.
Damn, I found only few potatoes in like 30 minutes of running, did you forget to configure generation?
I honestly figured that was the issue! I'll give it a try and see if it still works :D
RenayEdor this is a problem with the vanilla game, you need to drop any fruit to start fermentation
Hi, getting these errors at lunch, andd have the same wort issue:
25.10.2025 00:42:31 [Error] Patch 0 (target: game:blocktypes/plant/aquatic/seagrass.json) in expres:patches/survival-blocktypes-plant-aquatic-seagrass.json failed because supplied path /drops is invalid: The json path /drops was not found. No such element 'drops' at the root path
25.10.2025 00:42:31 [Error] Patch 1 (target: game:blocktypes/plant/aquatic/seaweed.json) in game:patches/seaweed.json failed because supplied path /drops is invalid: The json path /drops was not found. No such element 'drops' at the root path
it might be a conflict with one of the mods on the server, but it doesn't appear that any of the wort recipes work? Any ideas on what I can do to try and resolve this? I really wanna make vodka, wiskey, and rum! :D

ZephenKellen You can already preserve eggs in lime water.
Would it be possible to add Water glassing eggs to the Mod, and something you would consider?
Water glassing eggs involves submerging clean, unwashed, eggs in a pickling lime and water solution to seal off the shell and preserve them for 12-18 months. The result is perfectly fresh, unspoiled eggs, just like they were the day the hen laid them. Sometimes properly water glassed eggs are still fresh even after two years. Homestead folks have been using this preservation method since the 1800s to capitalize on the springtime egg abundance year round.
Thank you.
Amazing mod, love it. Is there any chance the sea salt source block prevention and salt recipe could be made into a config?
Proner I thought about it, I'll do it later through config
Ello ello, i'd greatly recommend turning the new crops/meals/soy milk into a different mod, i understand it's a decent deal more work but it's a shame not being able to use this mod due to incompatibility/lack of patches, in my case, due to seed related mods;
Keeping everything in separate modules might favour your own sanity later as you make more content, and it all becomes easily customizable for the end user 😀
RenayEdor It's difficult to combine dishes and different saturations in vanilla. I'm waiting for Expanded Food to be updated, and then its author and I will make our mods fully compatible. Then it will be possible, because that mod has the necessary mechanics.
Do you think it'd be possible to make a food item from cooking rusks and berries together? 2 rusks and 2 fruit for toast with jam :D
Just a heads up, Truth and Beauty: Detailed Animals has a soft incompatibilty with this since it replaces chicken eggs with its own custom version. There's probably nothing stopping you from making it so you can boil those eggs as well and have them convert back into "vanilla" eggs in the process, since all it uses its special eggs for is tracking genetics.
ZephenKellen I think it still compare with any 1.21.x version, so yes
Is the newest version still compatible with 1.21.2?
MrFlame awesome. Thanks for your hard work with this mod. I am enjoying it a lot
Teagan yes, from last versions of the mod
Do the crop growth times dynamically change if you change how long a month is?
SneakyDevil yes, I can make it
Echoweaver yeah, I will try to make a config
Love this mod to turn excess food into long-term storage. Any chance we can stack pemmican bricks on the ground like pate bricks can? Any chance we can stack on the ground packaged pemmican/pate/chips like pate bricks too?
Wanted to add another request for a config. There's so much amazing stuff here, but additional harvestables, additional fertilizers, and boiling for salt are outside the challenge rules I'm using in my game. Boiling for salt is a simple mechanics change, but it's a massive change to the survival challenge.
Tahvohck sure, good idea 👍
Pemmican and pate bricks are kind of ridiculous when used in stews. Can we maybe get a way to slice them up before putting them into meals?
GreaseBaron but....you can...
MrFlame dang, got it! Yep, let's wait for the official mod, I'll comment here again once it's updated officially. Thank you for trying in the meantime though and sorry!
Niniisan I just tried it and I just can't run the unofficial mod 😅 As I said, it's very raw and problematic.
And it looks like something broke completely.
The patch disabled the recipes and interactions with eggs that LTF added, so even in theory there shouldn't be any conflicts.
Let's wait for the official mod.
Why is there no option to make pemmican using redmeat? Surely you wouldn't say the bison was made of bushmeat?
I'm afraid the fix isn't working, I still can't break raw eggs above a container :/ As I said I'm aware it's not the official version but as of now it still works like normal EF
Psyborg thank you, I share and will implement all your ideas. Cheese really requires huge investments in time but is not competitive, while milk could be given more opportunities for use.
Amazing! Thank You!
MrFlame Yep, I'm aware, using an unofficial version for now, but the author has said two days ago that the update (official one) is going well! In the meantime thank you for fixing it!
Ashe_Ferro I added xskills compatability, enjoy☺️
Niniisan fixed. But keep in mind that there is no official Expanded Food from its author for 1.21 right now, so you either play on 1.20 or use an unofficial version that still has a bunch of problems.
Please remove or change the cooked egg. It conflicts heavily with Expanded Foods and completely disallow to break the eggs to get the yolk from it. Edit : it even makes normal vanilla recipe bug when trying to add full eggs (uncooked) in it, making everything in the cooking pot freeze and beinf unretrievable.
MrFlame
Your mod is a great alternative to the forever-not-updated Expanded Foods. I really like where you're going with it!
Would you perhaps add some love to the diary products? You have already added some basics with soy milk and powdered milk. But it's use is for cheese only, which in vanilla is a very time/cost-ineffective food source. I.e. a single piece of chese provides 240 calories only, and Cheese Pie requires 8 pcs of cheese, which is a a lot of cheesemaking for just 1 pie...
Some ideas:
- using milk as liquid ingredient for dough (similiar way as blood in Butchering mod)
- using milk for porridge / some soups
- using cottage cheese as an ingredient for some meals (Cheesecake?)
- rebalancing vanilla cheese to be worth the effort (more calories per slice, or more slices per cheese wheel)
Ashe_Ferro I am in contact with the mod author, and when he updates them to the current version, I will take care of compatibility.
As for xskills, I am working on that right now.
Wooo updates :D
I really like what's in here, any plans to try and be compatible with the eventual release of expanded foods and culinary artillery?
Also read somewhere that the new crops don't seem to be compatible with granting xskills xp?
I want to try it but I've been holding out for the other two big food mods and don't want to run into problems when they finally do update
Could you add corn whiskey? I don't think its inappropriate technologically but maybe I'm wrong.
the ground beet when ground if you accidentally put it back into a fruitpress it doesnt remember its current value and returns to 0.16L every time can you fix this? plz
Thank you
MrFlame
i have a request ...
would you add alternative recipes for crafting seeds if "Wild Farming - Revival" is also used, please.
i like to use the recipes of Wild Farming more.
adres4t Thank you very much. I will take a look at these mods soon, as I have hardly played with them, and try to add compatibility.
Hey, I hope you having a great day. I play with your mod since the beginning and I like it very much. The only thing I would like to request is Floral Zones and Florasphere compatibility to include fruit/veg from those mods in the recipes.
On another note, if you have a formula for the patches lying around, can you share it? I have a general idea of where to start but need some guidance. Hope that's ok. Cheers.
MrFlame I think it was just coincidental and was due to the crash due to sailboats in 1.21.2 not your mod.
Just happened to be when at some of your crops :)
Yarro I check it, you are absolutely right. I will add this feature where it need to be. Thank you!
MishkaSnep No matter how hard I try, I can't reproduce this crash. Perhaps it's a combination with some other mods for soil or plants, or a drop additional from them. The error itself can't find any additional textures, although all the shapes and textures in the mod itself are in place. More data is needed.
I believe cooking pot recipes have a 'isfood' modifier to keep it from dirtying the cooking pot? Might be useful for things like salt boiling and milk powder!
Myself and another player (Psyborg) seem to get crashes after harvesting a few corn (not all the time but seems random)
Other crops seem fine, server is 1.21.2 (was happening on 1.21.1) mod is fully up to date.
MrFlame ah I understand. If it's intended it's fine, just you should probably mention that in the mod page.
Orangutanion At the moment, I have not added sugar beets to dishes; they are more commonly used to make syrup and sugar. However, I can add them without any issues.
I can't make stew using sugar beets? If you put meat meat berry sugar beet into a cooking pot it will say no matching recipe found.
stormtrooper_34 "Main Idea" section -> bottom: Powdered milk 😅You can add salt to milk and boil it down into powder, which keeps for a VERY long time. And when you need it, just add water 😄
Soo... Milk update? 👀
If you make the seed and sliced potato recipes both shaped recipes the position of the knife and potato in the grid should in theory be enough to diferentiate between the recipes, and if not, there's also the option to use a different bladed tool for making the seeds, but in the instance of the mod I use I just made the recipe only need a potato
CheeseMuncher I was just asked about this mod on Discord today😅 I will, but only when the mod is updated. I add compatibility if requested and if I can do it.
LivCi Okay, I'll take that into account.
Will there be added compatibility for Wildcraft Fruits and Nuts?
Ik this might sound nitpicky, but could you please remove the spaces in the name of the zip file for future updates? I use ModOrganizer's mod updater and it has an aneurysm every time it sees spaces in the download URL 😂
EthelVril fixed, thank you for your report🤝
Yukari_75 thats the problem. You want to cut a potato in half and slice it with one craft.
By the way, there is a certain logic in the game when a seed has a certain class and the game understands that a "seed-potato" should create a "plant-potato". And no other variations. Whereas a "vegetable-potato" has variations and is essentially a different item. I wanted to add it as a seed so that you could plant potatoes directly, but these technical difficulties prevent that.
As for compost, imagine you are Mark Watney from the movie "The Martian" and you need to fertilize or stratify potatoes.😅
MrFlame Don't chopped potatoes require a knife?
Getting this error with the newest update:
Yukari_75 and if you remove the compost, you'll end up with chopped potatoes😀
MrFlame I was more just thinking of an example of what to do with the egg powder. It would essentially just be an egg, but in long-term food form, IE: powdered
You could make powdered eggs by "curing" (vanilla mechanic of salting meat) eggs to get egg powder, which is just an egg that lasts longer
Fun fact about sugar: it can last indefinitely as long as it's stored in under the right conditions, though brown sugar is more likely to have quality issues if stored for too long
Also when I mentioned the mod's recipe for potato seeds, my issue was that it requires compost
RenayEdor
I thought more about egg powder.
Look, everything you mentioned is in vanilla:
You can add eggs to soup (but in 3-4 slots, one at a time).
You can make a stew with 2 eggs (1-2 slots, but both must be eggs).
And the technology itself requires mechanisms that developers still have a long way to go to develop.😅
There used to be a mechanism where eggs were placed in lime water in a barrel to obtain “glazed eggs.” This allowed them to be preserved longer, and such a recipe was insome mod (most likely in Expanded Foods).
I can add something similar as an "egg storage mechanism", but I need to know exactly which mod it was in and make a compatibility patch.
Yarro Animals must be listed using biomes. Plants take temperature and humidity into account. Just in case, I checked everything works fine with Biomes.
RenayEdor added compatibility patch for Mycodiversity
Nico_Nico_Nyx Yes, now it's fine 👍
My apologies, I forgot to credit you on my recent Pemmican mod, I started off from the recipe you had setup and built the rest. I've added proper credits and also detailed what I had changed from your mod.
Yukari_75 Yes, you're right, I forgot to add that because when I was making seeds, I was crafting in bulk😅 I will definitely fix that. Thank you.
Just noticed how the potato to potato seed recipe is designed and it feels horribly wrong to me, knowing seed potatoes are typically made by just cutting potatoes into chunks for larger potatoes or whole smaller potatoes can be used directly IIRC
Yarro As far as I know, there should be no conflicts, and the cultures must be in the generation. However, just in case, I will add it to my to-do list.👍
Does this have compatibility with Biomes?
MrFlame How weird! If the proportions didn't work it'd tell me directly in the tooltip on the pot... I think I had like 4 liters of sugar juice in the pot, and it told me it'd make molasses but it got stuck at the end of the progression indefinitely. Maybe an isolated glitch?
Edit : the problem was the container, since it's a modded container from AllClasses (I was using a copper pot)!
Niniisan I just checked - everything works for me.
I boil the squeezed sugar juice into syrup (molasses) 1 liter of juice = 0.2 liters of molasses.
1 liter of molasses can be boiled down to 1 sugar.
That is, 5 liters of juice = 1 liter of molasses = 1 sugar
RenayEdor
Yes, I can add methods for long-term storage of eggs and add them to soup (in fact, water + main ingredient + a couple of additional ingredients).
As for mushrooms, yes, a separate patch for mycodiversity needs to be added to the mod.
Essentially, this is specified in the mod for vanilla mushrooms, but not for new types, so I will add it to the list.
Heyo, currently on v.1.21.1 and the sugar beets do like the potatoes used to - I can crush them into 'syrup' and put them in a pot, but then the liquid won't turn into molasses, it stays stuck at the end of the progression indefinitely. Just wanted you to know!
Any possibilites of adding "powdered eggs", just like the powdered milk, that you can boil with 1L of water and 1 powdered egg + vegi/meat to make omellets :D Not sure if it's a necessary thing to be added, but compatability with Critter Pack birds as well would be awesome! (not sure if needed because there might be a way to grab a generic "egg" item for use!)
Also, using version 2.7 (server owner doesn't want conflicts with mods with your vegitable additions), and for some reason the mushroom grinding recipes don't seem to work, but it might be a conflict with mycodiversity, which is a mushroom addon mod we also have
Thank you for all the hard work! :D
May not be possible, but with foodshelves compatibility, would it be possible to place things that require drying into ceiling jars? They have a 2.5x drying bonus, which would be ideal for things like mixed fruit, pemmican, and aged beef
Kosmu Hi, yeah sure. Thank you!
Will you add compatibility to expanded foods whenever that updates? I've been really enjoying a lot of the ideas and content this mod offers, I kinda wish we had a cheaper/alternate way to craft parchment, thank you for your work!
Patahto I got it. Will fix in few minutes
1.21.1 running exclusively longetermfood mod and it persists as I described in my last comment, now I noticed also that hovering and pressing H to open the guide for heated corn crashed my game too D:
runnin 0.3.3, old versions I've removed, also cleared cache and modData, and tested on a newly generated creative world. T_T
0.3.4 fixed baking :D
pickling recipes still borked tho, and guidebook still crashes if trying to inspect baked veggies
0.3.5 fixed the crash, and upon closer inspection it seems that only the pickling recipes for raw veggies are borked
for example, the pickling recipes for chopped potato work just fine
Sagisou I fixed this in 0.3.3, please check carefully and delete previous versions just in case.🙏
charred recipes for firepits work now but something's still up with baking and pickling recipes. ovens just say "oven is full" refusing placing the vegetables, and barrel recipes don't work.
I really wanted my corn man T_T
Raised corn turn into black square with no parameters and name pemmican:item-vegetable-corn
mod version 0.3.3
MrFlame Yeah man I will do that thanks for taking a look at it
Patahto Fixed, thank you🙏
The problem was that vanilla firepit didn't want to search for an item located in another file. One file contained raw vegetables, while the other contained cooked vegetables. And I pointed out that raw corn in a firepit turns into charred. But firepit needed everything to be in one place. So I created new burnt items for firepit.
RaiuVI I started to figure out this mod, and it seems that the author has incorporated that craft (with oiling handles) into unique mechanics, because there is nothing like it in ordinary crafts, so maybe you could actually ask him about it.
hi I'm having trouble with the new crops (corn and potatoes, didn't get to the sugar crops), they won't cook or process from their raw form. I disabled all other mods as well, tried both 1.21.0 and 1.21.1 (my current save is on 1.21.0). the raw vegetables just sit in the firepit, the progress arrow fully filled but not completing, and I can't place them in an oven either. this is only happening for vegetables defined in the crops/vegetable.json, all the food/cookedvegetable.json defined ones cook and bake properly. there's an error in the logs, though I had the Better Firepit mod then. the error still happened on a fresh creative world generated with only the longtermfood mod too however.

Rikaiu Considering that cultures are different, they should not conflict with each other.
However, they should not have common mechanisms either. I have not adapted my mod to this one🤨
Is it posible to make corn oil for oiling handles compatible with the toolsmith mod or does it have to be done by the toolsmith mod?
would this mod overlap with this one? https://news.kalataka.ru/newworldcrops
Hey everyone, the VEGETABLE UPDATE is now live.🎉
I've added all the changes requested in the comments below.
But most importantly, there's a LOT OF NEW CONTENT waiting for you.
I worked on this patch for over a week in my spare time and didn't have time to test it.
I have a REQUEST for you: please test the update live, and if you find any bugs or have any suggestions, write to me right away. I read everything and respond.
THANK YOU to everyone who helps make this mod better, you guys rock!💪 Hugs to all, and enjoy the content.😊
would it be possible to have pemmican be also craftable with redmeat? I get a lot from my pigs and not a lot of bushmeat. Alternatively maybe allowing cured bushmeat to be used in the crafting recipe could make it more feasible to craft in bulk
oooooh, nice! Looking forward to those.
Tahvohck I added and supplemented your patch, thank you. I can't upload it yet because, as I said, I'm preparing a large piece of content. I can share some spoilers. Corn, potatoes, sugar beets, and sugar cane.
Corn is an excellent source of calories, has a long shelf life, and can be used to prepare many dishes.
Potatoes are a vegetable that also has a long shelf life and can be used in many dishes.
Sugar beets do not like heat, and sugar cane does not like cold, but these two crops are raw materials for molasses, sugar, and caramel, which can be used as substitutes instead of honey.
(Or strait up drive out the aqua vitae from them😅)

Thank you!
MrFlame sorry for the delay, looks like the patch method now works, soups have the correct names!
I was also wondering why I suddenly couldn't grind mushrooms to paste, lol. Good luck on the update!
While you're at it, why don't you add support for Food Shelves? I threw together a quick patch for pemmican and rusks for my server, but there might be other foods that would be good to add to the shelves.

Arisilde Yes, I see that in 1.21 they added a lot of colors for finished ceramics. I will make corrections and upload them in the next patch, but right now I am preparing a major update and it will take some time. Thank you 😊
Any idea how I might resolve this error?
Thanks :)

Gank Yes, indeed, these are the consequences of the transition to 1.21😅 Thank you very much, I have already fixed it, but I am preparing a major update to the module, so I will be a little late with the upload.🙏
I may be a dimwhit, but I cant figure out how to dry, or grind mushroom to make a paste. Can't grind them in a Quern wet, dry, or charred. Can't dry them in the oven- they cook up when chopped, wont dry when whole. Halp! Thanks.
VidRyan Thank you! Added into my "to do list"
STK2008 Glad to hear it🤜🤛
Great mod! One of my all time favorites. One thing I would like to see is more places to store drying ingredients. I use the food shelves mod, so I actually had to build a shack full of vanilla shelves since pemmican can't be stored on a double-wide shelf, table, stone countertop, or any of my other usual storage locations. Keep up the great work :)
Thanks for the fix no errors on starting server now :)
JunidO I've never done this before, but I'll keep it in mind. Once I'm done with the new cultures, I'll start patching for xskills.
Could you make it, that your food works with xSkills? - that you get XP and so?
Nico_Nico_Nyx Hi there! Yes, the localization was broken, there didn't seem to be any mechanical problems, but I completely reworked the patches (which I had once done hastily), so now there shouldn't be any conflicts.🤝
STK2008 Sabio_dos_Mods fixed (I hope😂)
MrFlame hey there, I'm the mod author of Bone Broth, thanks for patching your mod for improved compatibility. I haven't tested it yet to see if everything is fine (it only broke localization, not the recipe itself) but I'll update my mod page about this
STK2008 Sabio_dos_Mods Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I need to update to 1.21.1 after all. The mod has recipes that allow you to boil salt from seawater but prohibit creating a source of seawater (with a patch). Looks like something has changed there. I'll update now, find it, and fix it.
Hi thanks for update
I have a large mod pack so could be a conflict but I see this in the dedicated server CMD window

Thanks in advance.
I am just heading out so will upload logs later if need be
Hey Tahvohck please check new version of the mod. I make proper patches (so you can use this mod with Bone Broth) and I need feedback is everything is working for you.
Glad to help! And that's a shame regarding mixed saturation on basic foods.
When you look into making it a patch, you should also do some cleanup on the resulting files - modmaker still creates them via "add" patches instead of "addmerge" patches, which are the current best practice according to the wiki, though that will be a bit more involved than just making the patch and shipping it.
Tahvohck Thanks for the info, I'll take a look soon and make it into a patch. Regarding pemmican: the game supports 1 product having 1 type of saturation. Different ones can be either in cooked food (stew, soups, etc.) or created via C# as a new mechanic (such as in Expanded Foods)
Oh, also, maybe pemmican should have both a fruit and protein value, instead of just protein?
Hi, apparently your mod breaks Bone Broth because it overwrites the soup recipe instead of patching it. Can you look into changing to a patch method instead?
Edit: I see Atheliana actually mentioned just a bit before me, oops. Sort of.
I'm actually working on dissecting this mod right now to convert it to a patch mod. Creating the patches are easy enough, the game's included ModMaker 3000 (modmaker.exe) can do that for me with a bit of shuffling, but a separate compat patch currently would be a bit painful since I'd have to restore the vanilla files in my compat patch. The good news is that if MrFlame does it on his side, then the compatibility is much simpler, since he can just remove the files that are doing overwrites 😁
If this mod was converted to use patches instead of an overwrite, it should be natively compatible with Bone Broth.
Kawsiphek No, need to add a compatibility patch. I haven't played with this mod and I see a lot of new mushrooms there.💀
Would these mushroom recipes work with Mycodiversity?
Atheliana I haven't played with this mod yet, but I will. I'll figure out what needs to be connected and add it in future updates.
the HoD compatibility is huge, thanks for adding it. I love this mod!
Would it be possible to get compatibility for Bone Broth by Nyx?
No thank you for this is insanely good mod =D
Hey guys, I've released a new patch. If you find any bugs or inaccuracies, please let me know.👆
New medicines, potatoes, and corn (and their uses) are still in development.
Thank you to everyone who supports and helps find bugs🙏
There will be significant changes in future versions:
✏️ Nerf algae. Currently, algae provide 60 saturation. To completely fill your belly from scratch, you need 25 pieces, which can be chopped in 20 seconds...
🔸 In the new version, the nutritional value will be 20
🔸 And the appearance of other types of “inedible” algae will mean that valuable algae will not be everywhere.
🔸 It also will make more sense to process and dry algae through Expanded Foods if you have some.
✏️ “Algae chemistry” will change. The healing capsule will be completely removed. Some other medicines will be added.
✏️ Hotbread100 asked to add a patch for hydrate or diehydrate.
✏️ There are already mods for corn and potatoes at Mod DB, but I have my own vision for growing and, most importantly, using these crops. I plan to add them in the future.
Yup i am on 1.21.1 that's correct , I thought this was compatible with 1.21.1 as well because it's a minor version
Sonito Have you already updated the game to 1.21.1? I haven't done that yet, I'm still on the stable version and everything is fine, maybe that's the problem(although I fixed the problem you described in the last patch).
After all, there are alternative crafts for vintage meat.
I'm using Long-term food v0.2.2.zip 148 KB (151,552 bytes) , it's the one in this page it's a fresh list of mods so i'm pretty sure this is it
Sonito Did you use the latest version of the mod, which is already adapted to 1.21, or the old one?
Hello i'm getting this error when starting a game :
[Error] Grid Recipe with output Item code pemmican:redmeat-vintageraw containsan ingredient that cannot be resolved: Block code game:bowl-fired
It is the first mod I see that uses parchment to wrap food. It's super cool!
Hotbread100 I didn't do anything for this, but if you're interested, next time I update, I'll try to make a patch.
is this compatible with the hydrate or diedrate mod?
Can I use Thyme instead of time?
Eluce Brick Thank you!😊
Kiev I didn't make any special compatibility except for algae from Expanded Food. If there is a suggestion to consider or add, I am open to it.
Amazing mod. Now you can meal prep for a couple years instead of months xD
Will there be a compatibility list?
Love this mod! Can never go wrong with Pemmican.
TheUSDoctor Adapted for version 1.21. I would like to note that so far I have only made changes to ensure that the old recipes work in the new version. I plan to rework the crafts with algae, expand the variety of medicines, and add a couple of new crops with recipes and their uses.
Is there any plans to update this mod to 1.21?
MrFlame Understood, thank you
MikeSyrup It seems to be Expanded Food. You could write to the author asking him to pay attention to this and increase the duration if possible.
Also my compote seems to only last around 5 days, even in a cellar
MrFlame Appreciate it, and no worries. Hope I wasn't rude about it
MikeSyrup Yes, I have been updating my other mods, and I will soon get to this one.
The algae system itself will be redesigned. Some things will be nerfed, some things will be changed. I will most likely remove the capsule, and there will be medicine, but closer to vanilla. Thank you!
Would it be possible to disable the healing items (i.e. the healing capsule+ingredients for it like agar)? I like most of the stuff in the mod but the healing capsule feels a little out of place.
whasit thank you! Pleasure to hear it :3
ObiKind yeah, the developers change some blocknames so I will fix this soon
Jayro sorry for late responce, I`m back again and soon will look and fix everything
I keep coming back to this mod whenever I start up a new game. It just fills in so many little gaps, like having a salt alternate, being able to have soybean and powdered milk, a way to wash cookpots, and giving me something to do with bushmeat, especially since I play with Flora and Fauna mods. Also something else to make with honey! I like it a lot.
Apologies if this is an obvious issue I don't know how to fix, but during world gen with this mod enabled I get an error. I tried pasting it in here, but the text editor on this website won't let me copy and paste for some reason(?)
Anyway, rather than typing the entire thing out, it's basically saying Error Patch 0 target game:blocktypes/plant/aquatic/seaweed.json failed because supplied path drops/0 is invalid, the path was not found, no such element 'drops' at root path.
Is this something I can fix? :-)
https://imgur.com/zR3ZLLY
There's a recipe bug that doesn't give you the milk if you put it in the barrel.
Oh ok, so that's just to say it might be easely broken, but should work fine.
Understood, thanks for your answer and have a nice day
RayoRey Yes, indeed, I was asked to add a similar mechanic on my server and I did it without knowing that this mod existed.
With all due respect, I included you and your mod in the description of this mod. I apologize for not paying enough attention to this information🙏
HaraiseTenshi I'll add it to the list of things to do
Arthopleura This mod works perfectly with Expanded food, it has been tested even on servers. But in order to synchronize some recipes, there were no unnecessary copies and problems, I need to keep an eye out for bugs and conflicts. So far, there has been only 1 conflict with the seaweed leaf, which has been fixed long ago.
so, by the way, I do not cross out this) you never know where a bug will appear
Cool looking mod, i would like to try it.
Just one question :
Does "expanded food patch" means that my game will crash or have big errors when using them both, or is it just making them both actively compatible, and i can have them both without any issues ?
EDIT :
Re-reading the question, i realise i could have written it a better way :
When you say there is a need to make a patch for expanded food, does that mean that the current version of both mods are not working together, or does that means that you need to add further compatibility (such as not adding 2 different pemmican in the game) , in order to provide the best experience ?
because if they are working together, i download right now.
Is there a config to turn off some parts like the salt cooking or textiles from papyrus thing? already have a mod that does this and do not want duplicates
@JelliBelli The message wasn't for you, the mod creator knows what I'm talking about, he added that mechanic just 2 updates ago, but it doesn't matter, it's better for me because I use his mod on my servers... So it's not a problem, but the people who get involved where they shouldn't, without knowing, are the biggest problem 😂... I really like this mod, I appreciate you putting my thoughts here, it was just funny not mentioning something about my mod haha...
@RayoRey Your linked mod was just created this year towards the end of January, this one has been here since July 2024. I wouldn't worry over so few features, and doubt what I think you are implying is actually happening. Bring them papers if so, otherwise:
There are plenty of like minded minds who make mods all with similar features, can't tell ya how many mods I've seen add the same tweaks or features without scouring the database to see if someone else already made it. Just gonna lead to burnout, unnecessary disdain, and drama getting in a tizzy over who did it first.
Interesting to see my ideas, the ideas of my mod https://news.kalataka.ru/show/mod/18061
Very curious 😑.....
Hey, the game crashes if I try to turn off the mod and play:

FYI, your modId is malformed -- this makes it impossible to add your mod as a dependency of another mod:

An update: I did some testing in a single-player world, and I think I've pinpointed the issue with the milk powder. If I pull it from the creative inventory, the powder is good for 3.5 years. However, if I cook it from salted milk, it's only good for 2-3 days. I believe because the salted milk itself is only good for 2-3 days, and because the recipe is using the cooking pot, the game is automatically inheriting that shelf life from the ingredients and ignoring the base lifespan of the milk powder item.
I'm going to try to patch around this on my server by altering the salted milk to be a liquid, and the recipe to use the A Culinary Artillery cauldron to boil it down. However, that won't help if you're trying to keep the mod otherwise vanilla-friendly. The only workarounds I can think of without requiring ACA for its cooking methods are either making the salted milk portion have the 3+ year shelf life (in which case there's no point cooking it down to powder), or adding some more items to the process. For example, cooking pot + salted milk = pot of salted milk, then cook that on a fire to get pot of milk powder, then drop that in the crafting grid to get a pot + the milk powder, which should have its intended shelf life of 3+ years. Kind of fiddly and it would be a bit of work to make the extra items, but at least it would work?
Confirming what has already been reported: dehydrated milk made from a fresh batch of milk will only last 3 days, not years. Something is going wrong with the math somewhere, it seems. :( I am using the most up to date version of the mod on my server.
I get the same thing. I tried running only this mod and had no problem. I only get the problem when I change some settings in world generation—the ones that have to do with oceans.
2.2.2025 17:40:02 [Error] Patch 3 (target: game:itemtypes/liquid/saltwaterportion.json) in pemmican:patches/no-saltwater-source.json failed because supplied path /attributes/waterTightContainerProps/whenSpilled/stackByFillLevel is invalid: The json path /attributes/waterTightContainerProps/whenSpilled/stackByFillLevel was not found. bringitonwimps I tried to change the order of the patches to a more correct one. If this doesn't help, then most likely some other mod conflicts and changes the same file
getting this now

mayonnaise I checked, everything is fine. Powdered milk lasts 9k hours, which is approximately = 3+ years on standard settings. Check if you have the latest version of the mod (although there were no major changes in milk powder)
powdered milk seems to last for 3 days, not 3 YEARS as shown in the handbook. very weird...
Proner Thank you. There was one letter missing (instead of “enabled” it was “enable”). Now everything is working correctly. Thanks UA_Shaman for help.
Does the new patch means that we require Expanded Food to run the mod properly? It generates errors in the Launch Screen as it searches seaweed in a world that's not running Expanded Food
Coda_Vanistok ahh, I see it. Thank you. I will make adaptation for this soon
corn_fleak The problem of the recipe in the containers from the mods, not vanilla, lies in the mods for the containers themselves🙃. In this situation, I can't break into someone else's mod and adapt it to my own. About the dirty pot - I can not say what the problem is without seeing the logs in which it is written. Can you send them to me in Discord? Nick: mrgabrielflame
Or find me in the official Vintage Story group.
Hi, I tried to make powder milk but when I want to get it from the bronze pot from the art of cooking mod and it makes my game crash instantly. Also, when i try to place the dirty pot again it also makes my game crash. Any idea on how to fix this ? Thank you in advance (if needed i can provide the error message but it's a bit chunk of lines so i don't want to pollute the chat)
There's a small recipe overlap in the mod with Expanded foods, that overwrites some of the seaweed recipes.
this mod is sci-fi from real life, longterm food making.
jhaury The powder milk recipe is fixed, and as far as compatibility goes, I run it with expanded foods and it's fine. There's some recipe overlap (two different types of pemmican with different recipes), but it hasn't caused any issues.
Hi, I might use this mod and wanted to check if the powder milk recipe error reported a few days ago was fixed and check to see how compatible/incompatible is this mod with expanded foods? I definitely plan to use EF, wildcraft fruits/nuts, wildcraft herbs/spices, and primative survival.
012phuong Thanks for the feedback. I added the generation of brown and red algae. The brown ones grow in cold waters, while the red ones will be more common in tropical ones. In order to have both, you will have to travel :3
Until the developers add their own generation, everything will work fine. Have fun.
Sorry if this question had been asked. Just how rare is orange seagrass? I dived across a few ocean floors only to find nothing, the most common one seemed to be seaweed and green sea grass. But I can't find even a speck of orange one.
SageOceiros thank you! I fixed both my mistakes. Feel free to write about any problems with the mod - it's normal
Just an FYI the powdered milk recipe might be broken, getting this error in logs:
[Warning] Failed resolving crafting recipe ingredient with code game:saltmilkportion-raw in barrel recipe pemmican:recipes/barrel/saltymilk.json
I'm guessing (as a non-modder) that in assets>pemmican>recipes>barrel>saltymilk.json line 14
{ "type": "item", "code": "game:saltmilkportion-raw", "litres": 1 }
needs to be swapped to:
{ "type": "item", "code": "pemmican:saltmilkportion-raw", "litres": 1 }
Also, in assets>pemmican>itemtypes, the folder "medecine" is misspelt. Not trying to be a jerk, just letting you know in case that crops up later.
MrFlame Awesome! that sea weed mechanic will save our island playthrough, thanks for the fast fix!
CH33Z3BURG3R man you are a superhero for many people. Algae drop patch really didnt work, I fix it already, thank you!
Is there a specific tool to harvest sea grass? I can't seem to collect any of the sea grass colors.
Thank you!
Adapted to 1.20. Added variety in the use of algae (especially useful for those who want island survival). Thanks Ket for the feedback, your knives will break 5 times slower now.
Could you lower the durability cost on the knife for cleaning mushrooms? 5 durability lost everytime you clean one mushroom is pretty harsh. For reference, cutting other items in the crafting grid with a knife has no durability cost.
It seems like a lot of classes of tree mushroom (tinder hoof, reishi, shiitake, and more) can't be cleaned, and witch's hats, despite being safe to eat and a ground mushroom, can't be used for either paste or for cleaning. Is this intentional? This occurs with no other mods installed on 1.20 rc6, so it does not appear to be a conflict
propaneko rusks can spoil but they will rot after a LONG time. They really can stay normal for years (depending on your world setup). Caramel can be fresh unlimited time.
I just wonder, does the Rusks and Caramel have unlimited time?
THe mod doesnt seem to work for me. I dont seem to get any errors when loading it, but it acts as if the mod is not enabled.
Sorry, just saw this response. Thank you!
Inflectus longtermfood
I will add it in description next time
This mod looks great, but what's the modid so I can add it to my server's FairplayGuardian allow list? I try to view it in the modinfo file, but it doesn't have one?
Guimoute Thank you! Glad you like it:3
This is lovely!
Soymilk and primitive healing is here!
Adapted to 1.20. I made some small changes, for example, now you can make aged beef using any utensil, not just a bowl.
AlebenTod Thank you for enjoying the mod! Well, yes, I had this idea. There is a certain conflict with the popular mod for cooking in terms of creating dried berries, when “a berry turns into a dried berry through an oven,” so I had to find another way. Maybe in the future I will come up with another way
Hi! This is a wonderful mod. Is it possible to add dried berries in the future?
Aedis I will think about it, maybe there will be a little compatability patch soon. Thank you for suggestion!
Tyrlaren Thank you for enjoying it
Hello, is there any plan to add wildcraft fruits/berries so they would work for pemmican too? at least some of them probably would fit (maybe not very juicy fruits but berries like lingonberry or black nightshade)
Thank you so much for your hard work on this mod!
hi!! hope this isn't rude, but are you considering adding a handbook guide entry for the foods added in this mod?
Dang I really really want pemmican in the base game now, would be a great use for bushmeat, which after the early game just starts to feel a bit of an annoyance. Having a stockpile of food storage would be cool.
Rivernoodl right now the mod is running on one of the servers where Primitive Suvival and Expanded Food mods are installed. Initially, the mod was created in this way so as not to depend on other mods. So it works great)
Following this mod as I'd love to add it in once you have compatability with expanded food (primitive survival would be nice too.) I'm excited that it's on the roadmap!
Will it work without the patches, albeit with being limited to its own recipies?
Doggo_ thank you for correcting me) English is not my native language so I can make mistakes, sorry)
Theres a spelling mistake in the 2nd picture. Its written "cooked" pemmican. Funnily enough in the description you wrote it right. Unless there are male chickens involved, then im wrong.
Also bushmeat not buchmeat.
I dont mean to be rude, but felt like i should point it out.
I3eauLeBoi No hard feelings. Have a great day! :)
dashr
Of course!
I do also forget my straight forwardness may come across as 'bold' or 'incencere'.
So i do apologize for that matter, if that were the case!
MrFlame I'm totally fine with it. I just hope you continue that mod in a fair and balanced way. I think it gives the game a nice touch. Especially if traveling far into one direction, without any teleportation mods installed.
Thank you for working so hard. Like I said I hope you continue the mod in the near future. :)
I3eauLeBoi I'm not here to pick a fight and your opinion is totally vaild and fair. If the mod decides to go that route, I'm open to it, while trying - as you also do - to give contructive feedback. :)
@dashr
But you can disagree or agree with what i've opinionated. Thats the best part.
Its nowhere to offend, its just what i 'personallly' think. There's nothing wrong with that.
Neither is it personal. Although its a bit odd to think i've got something personal against you lmao, its not that deep.
Eitherway.
@MrFlame
Yeah the game really lacks in the 'hand consumable' department. And i do actually agree with the annoying "Move your entire kitchen with you." While you explore.
If you are planning on adding many more hand held items that you can eat on the fly, i'd be there entirely for it! Can't wait what you can 'cook up' ;D ;D ;D
I3eauLeBoi thank you for your feedback too)
I completely agree that a little treatment is a great addition to the long process of creating this food
Also pemmican is ineffective in terms of saturation: eating the ingredients immediately with minimal preparation is much more profitable. This is the price for a "long shelf" life of this food, so I thought that it would be nice to fill such a saturation loss with something else, different.
Another good feature I think is pemmican-rusks stew. Yes, I don't like eating from bowls, in the game for me it's unnecessary actions - you need a slot for a cauldron on the road, a slot for a bowl, put it on the ground, eat, then pick it up. It's easier to cook something... convenient. However, a stew with pemmican, crackers, vegetables and fruits is a great food to replenish all the elements of the diet at once and get maximum health buffs from food.
I3eauLeBoi I don't understand why you say my feedback is not good feedback? Every feedback is worth considering. It's like me saying your feedback wouldn't be good, which would be utterly nonsense if I would say that. The mod author has all freedom to decide, what he wants to do with the mod. I even gave a detailed breakdown, why I believe healing in items shouldn't be in this mod. It looks like you want to interpret something from my comment that I never wrote and use it against me. Be better.
@dashr
Although feedback is good, doesn't mean all is. Personally to me? I like these recipes and the ability to craft them, its properly balanced by how long it should take and the resouces you need to put into them. That healing bonus is then a fun little addition.
Not everyone is going to spam create these items. And would probably still use meds. Since these foods, as per mentioned before. Take time and resources. While the other medical items are easier to make. So personally. Those things could stay for me. Just to give a little back and forth.
Eitherway, great mod! I am glad we can finally make some preservative foods. Canned goods was something i wanted for a long time as well. Or some sort of packaged food. (I know. That'd be pemmican, haha.)
MrFlame Your're welcome! It has the framework of being great. I really like the vision for this mod and hope you'll continue updating it.
Quick feedback: I would prefer it if Pemmican did not give an “ HP” bonus. I've already removed that from the mod for me. It would reduce the importance of healing items while traveling.
Furthermore, I strongly believe vintage beef SHOULD be extremely rare since it heals you up to 2 HP. Making it craftable renders healing items "almost" useless. (I know bandages and honey pultice heal way more but I believe having food items that heal you is too much of a buff)
I don't know if it's possible to patch out this ability from the vanilla game but if so, I would do so. Anything that leads to healing items being used less makes the game unbalanced.
Maybe you can come up with a different item, like you did with the pemmican and leave vintage beef out of this mod.
Edit: I started (for myself) to integrate the handbook entry. You can take a look if you want. It is not finished but if you like what you see, I would be willing to do the complete handbook entry for you, so you can concentrate on making the mod.
All the items will be linked in the handbook.
Link: imgur.com/8CZN1TX
dashr Thank you for your feedback! Thats means huge for me:3
So, I've got a few hours in testing everything. Seems to work without any issues on a modded server.
I think you got some great potential with this mods future plans in your hands, since this feels like it would be a part of the vanilla game, without overwhelming new players. Keep it up!
dashr Fixed

For some weird reason, if "Tools require rope" is installed the recipe for the sliced bread version requires a rope. So one of you might need to look into this.
Screenshots:

The salted pemmican is even stranger because it now has two options to craft the item.
How it should look:

Salt + Rope?
https://imgur.com/a/HRQa9Q4
Since the config of "Tools require rope" reads the files in game and tries to be automatically compatible, this issue needs to be addressed.
Hope this helps a bit to iron out these bugs.
P.S. I don't want to come across as rude, so I wanted to also say that this looks like an awesome mod that could add so much depth with the planned features. Hopefully the issues I have listed can be resolved soon-ish.
Edit: It's "ToolsrequireRope" I've tested it and can definitely say it needs to be fixed, since these issues are even in other recipes.
