its dll file is just a file to pick up snails and isnt anything else - it used to be to disable the animals one by one

Chiappo I found an interesting bug when the critters pack is installed. The agricultural Trader will have 'empty' slots randomly anytime this mod is installed

Mallard Ducks produce player eating sounds when they eat berries. Sounds really weird.
So I have some mallard ducks, and have troughs, they ate, and laid 3 eggs in the duckbox I made for them.
Except now they're just sitting there. The infobox says there's 3 fertile eggs, and will take 4 days to incubate. It's been like that for about a week in game.
My guess it has to do with the fact that the room the duckbox is in technically isn't a room, as all the walls were chiseled.

Crash when try to see crafting with mallard duck egg with "Long-term food" installed.
Sure, the mod don't have an oficial update to 1.21.5 but i'm saying either way
The mallard duck eggs do not work with culinary artillery, as they do not share the same egg cracking behavior. As a result, you cannot cook any recipe that uses the new egg liquid types. So raising chickens would be still be the only option for getting usable eggs, that aren't used for scrambled eggs. Could you please fix this behavior so that I and others can used mallard eggs with culinary artillery?
Also just checked, when picking the eggs from the duck nest, you do not receive xskills xp for the husbandry skill.
Lots of issues with the genders of the Pekin ducks. Like @DigiDragoon said, they seem to be displaying the wrong gender. When I move them with a reed trap they all appear to turn female. Having a hard time telling which ones are actually male.
Is anyone else having trouble with Peking and Call ducks not showing their gender? They all display as female once Adults. I've also had young adults tagged as male that grow up and suddenly be egg-layers (I have been specificly trying to sort the juvinile ducks to test this). Not having this trouble with other critters.
So, to expand on what Echoweaver said, egg extra in meatystew is also missed. To have it equal to chicken egg, it should be something like
Heya. The eggs from ducks seem to have an issue generating a texture in pots and bowls. This is 2x duck eggs with 1 each of turnip and parnsip. Already checked with vanilla devs.
ur mod breaks nadiya villager traders so look into it please also idk why you even touch traders at the first place...
Any plans to add yak fleece as an alternative way to make rope and cloth? Historically their wool was used to make everything from tents to textiles.
can you buff the animal drops? most animals give LESS meat than vanilla ones please
I have a question, would it be possible to add a Landing and sitting animation to the flying versions of the birds ?? I use the Bola mod, and when we hit the flying animals, they get frozen and use the sleeping animation, but the flying animals just float mid-air frozen. If they had a landing animation, we probably could use that!
Hello!! Just had a quick question:
So when I open the game in creative, I can see all the animals added into the game and can spawn them in! However after 6 days in a standard world, I've yet to see anything. :c
I'm not sure if there something i may be missing, or if I've just been incredibley unlucky haha

Hey there. I noticed that the eggs are invisible when I use your duck eggs to make scrambled eggs. I've spent way too long staring at cooking recipes, so I took a look.
For the scrambled eggs recipe, you don't want the eggs to use "shapeElement: bowl/egg/*". That a boiled egg as it appears in a stew or soup. There are shapes for egg as the meal base. Use egg1. Thus:

and so on. Also, scrambled eggs also has egg-extra and egg-extra2, which use shapeElement bowl/egg2 and egg3 respectively. If you add duck eggs to those two options, it would be possible to make mega scrambled eggs with duck eggs in all four slots. o.O

A group on my server had chipmunks get into one of their animal pens and the result was so....SO many chipmunks
I like the mod, I have a bunch of ducks already and am searching for yaks now.
Please please please could the other critters be made tameable? I was very sad when I managed to trap a hedgehog pair and they just despawned when I left the area :( they don't need drops or anything I just wanted some pet hedgehogs and isopods
What do ducklings eat specifically? One fell down a pit trap, and I'm trying to catch it to move it into the enclosure with the ducks I'm domesticating. Cranberries don't seem to work, even though the adults love them.
ETA: Oh, grain worked fine. I guess berries don't work because you can't put them in troughs.

Ive tested it as much as possible... but i guess you're right the sheep is harder to find for some odd reason (could be something my animals causing something?)
to say im very unsure if its the because of this.. could even be game related issue..
though ever since deers got added i had harder time finding sheeps..

Chiappo - Are your animals equipped to respond to POIs (Like raccoons with beehives and berry bushes, for instance)? I'm interested in seeing what can be done with the tree hollows in my mod Under Tangled Boughs and making squirrels respond to them as POI.
Vallen - I wouldn't call me an authority on this, but I've been looking into the animal spawn rates. I don't believe there's a larger "mob cap" in the sense that MC has one. The spawning system seems to be a lot more liberal in general. I'll look into this a bit more and see what I can suss up as it's relevant to my modding interests.
I don't suppose you've tested the effect these have had on the vanilla animal spawn rates? We've been having an issue locating sheep and I am wondering if the spawn rates of the other animals are preventing them from spawning.
Aye I see now, I was more of asking as a request if they could be made breedable?

Wanna start off by saying I love the mod. I've had a snail in my base for about 30 hours and they're my best friend. :)
Is there maybe something that can be done about Crows tho? I have a hillside that has about 200 cros covering it, and I've had to dig a trench around my small beehive meadow as all the crows in the area spawn and path to it and I need to clear entity to remove them about every 4 hours. Last crow pile was over 400 in a 8x8 radius. It's also trivialised winter a bit because I have infinite access to poultry. Is there any tweak that can be made to make them still feel consistent but not like I'm starring in a "The Birds" spin-off?

I've added PL translations for the new strings related to the Black Swans.
Moreover, there is an issue with them in the game – the textures and models are distorted (In ui).
Litesalt, probably a bug since i've been mostly eating duck scrambled egg for the last 5 hours of gameplay. I play on 1.21 and have the latest version of this mod, dont have any expanded food mods yet since from what i know they're outdated.

Hi, I have the critters pack 1.3.1 on our 1.21.1 server and have also not seen any butterflies. Everything I've seen flying in the air has been a robin.
Suggestion - with the addition of the swans, may I suggest a third, black swan that spawns in Hot/River environments. Thanks for your mod I really enjoy the little bits of life it adds to the game. For some reason, the snails are my favourites. I love seeing them crawl around.
it would be cool if we could pick up the isopods too! wish there was some way to use the glass display case as a lil snail/isopod terrarium
@Chiappo I have some mallard ducks that im trying to feed. Their diets say berries, but when I put Dry Berry Mash into the trough, they wont eat it, the tool tip says chickens but not ducks like it does if I put vegtables it. From what I can tell, they will eat it when I throw it on the ground though.

Is there a way to make it so that the cute lil critters don't get eaten? I couldn't find the "fren, not snack" option in the .json files. The local wolf pack has been enjoying the hedgohog and squirrel buffet, and there's lil bodies everywhere 😭

Any bird that spawns runtime shouldnt cause butterflies to loose their spawnrate and shouldnt be replaced 👍
if anything it might be biomes or game thinking something else.. but to my knowledge birds are not a butterfly in mechanic setup anymore
Its only the very extreme old version of this mod that used butterflies as birds (made crows stuck everywhere even in roofs)

Question! I have some Pekin ducks, and on the table it says they eat berries, however when I try to add berries to a trough it doesn't work, and berry mash doesn't list them under suitable fodder. Am I missing something basic?
Also, thank you so much for the mod! One day I will find a way to trap an isopod as a pet, make him a little glass cage.

it appears that they made a typo on all yak spawning
also appears to it were last updated 31th August
will try look into the files that and adjust it - to help along
But currently it appears they're unable to spawn with that 1.21.0 version of biomes

I've translated all the new lines and removed the unnecessary ones according to the latest updates.
I don't have yaks in my survival run yet but I loaded into a creative world and milking for the yak worked fine for me as per the latest update.
Having a problem where the ducks I have captured aren't nesting/incubating the eggs. I have put more grain into the small trough multiple times and left them alone for 4 days and the "broody hen" is still needed. Granted they are in a dirt hut about 25-30 blocks away from my main little hut, I don't think that should be disturbing them when I'm my daily walk arounds.

Have you tried to look on client settings for game itself?
theres two settings that allow for more textures for game to handle (sometimes required if alot of stuff and mods)
they're normally at something like 4096x2048,

They most-likely spawn further away from already explored areas
sometimes they do spawn day to day or rarely basis
id recommend use a translocator to somewhere and find the specfic animal there with a reed basket or reinforced crate you can catch some of em with their desired food
Though id just play with mod on and then at some point they spawn..
reason they don't spawn alot is mainly cause to avoid overflooding game and cause lag

I added this mod to my server about half an in game year in. We just started the new year and haven't seen a single animal from the mod. They wont spawn, but if I go into creative and place one in the world it acts completely normal, so I know the mod is working. Any idea how to get them to spawn on the server?

Will Yak be milkable in the future? They are a species of Cattle, its kind of odd they can't be. I understand if it'd be a headache to implement though.

Oniii can you elaborate a little bit on what kind of duck? I'm the guy that helped Chiappo build the butchering compatibility. I just tested with both the newest version of butchering and critterspack and was able to fully butcher a male and female mallard, call, and peking duck without any issues.

Currently no way to capture em - i could consider adding the ability maybe for cygnets (young variant) as a capturable one with reed basket
But it would mean youll have to get close or around other swans - once that feature is there
EDIT: big news the next version 1.2.8 you can catch cygnets swans (with baskets OR the reinforced trap crate) depending on their age <3
there a way to capture the swans? For example, the ducks can be caught in a reed basket, I cant figure out how to nab the swans for my aesthetic pond

Hi! This might be entirely my fault/a conflict with another mod, so don't worry too hard about this, but some of the creatures in the game such as the ducks are named their entire string of code, is there a way I can fix that?
I look forward to seeing more animals added. This is just the kind of atmosphere I love!

Can you reduce the spawn of crows? (walking ones) The amount is INSANE. I often find 15-20 crows stuck in a pit or a cave, and it's slowing the server! I know there is an option to prevent them from spawning entirely, but I like them; they are just too many.

You should be able to catch a few just besure to use the right diet/food i mention ontop to catch em
though the crows are some really smart birds therefore they might break it

Thanks for the compatibility. Maybe you can make it even better (but I'm still very happy, really!). In mod "Butchering" chickens (and rabbits) can be put not only in a special bag, but also in any inventory slot. This is done because they are small creatures. In addition, their carcasses can be placed on the ground (they turn into a "block").

I can hear the animals but can't see them, they seem to be invisible or something
found some yak far away from my base, I tried the ainimal cages mod with the medium cages to see if i could maybe snag a big yak in that or more likely, a baby with no luck. Currently, is the only way to get these boys back to my base the og method of trenches and fence paths? Ill do what i must but they are easily 1k blocks away
Chiappo I've completed the butchering patch. I only created patches for swans, squirrels, ducks, yaks, and owls as the other creatures didn't fit thematically. Only the adult creatures as well, minus the yak as the yak calf is large enough imo.
How do you want me to get you these files?

currently modconfig broke with the update of 1.21.0 and it will take alittle time to make working
i could do this - lower their chance to play a sound & lower their food drop cause they dont normally drop that much food
otherwise lemme see if i can do a quick hot fix for the modconfig for just crows
i hope you use the current version not the versions before 1.2.0
because there were insane amounts of crows - + it fixes a old bug too

i want to get rid of crows because they make annoying crow sounds constantly, plus they are really easy for getting poultry meat and feathers. after i got a 20+ chicken farm going.
i went ahead to turn crows to false in config but they are still spawning in the world.

Just throwing it out there for those that are looking for it, this mod doesn't work with the animal cages mod by default. The animal cages mod page has some instructions for adding animals however, so it looks like its possible at least.

Have you tried creating a real quick new test world on creative mode but survival world?
thats normally how i run through issues on my end and then disable a few mods after each run
after i check if it was that...
its a good idea always to check newly made worlds with errors even if you're modder or not ☺️
Chiappo Here's a weird thing. In my current world (1.20.12) I get no critters, unless you count foxes and rabbits, I guess. In my previous world, same specs, I had critters. Is there a known issue with mods like Fantasy creatures, or any other mod which adds additional creatures? I can't pin down why this world doesn't spawn critters compared to the previous world (lost due to corrupt data, unrelated), but I've noticed other creature mods similarly afflicted. The culprit I believe is going to be Fantasy creatures mod somehow suppressing other creature mods.

EDIT: i will fix this issue by renaming all adult crow entities to another type to solve the issue (also will fix the older name of it)
Any other crow will be untouched in terms of naming but spawnrate will be cranked down ALOT
Will mean youll need to see a error for the next times you normally would have encounted a original adult crow - but it disappears and no other error is present Sorry
Edit2: Mrozak - the mod should be light weight & should only add creatures and their function & the code is for snails to be picked up by people and put down

Just wanted to add on to the crow issue. I am witnessing literal dozens, probably over 100 in one loaded area at a time, it's insane.
The attached image doesn't really do it justice because this is additional to a hole full of at least 20 and a nearby field with a dozen more.
Love the mod, hope to see an update soon.

What can i expect when i addd this mod to the server? - how is it going to affect the number of entitites?
Does it replace any animals, or only adds new ones?
Why is the DLL needed? - does it change any vanilla game mechanics? behaviors? what does it do? (or is the sourcecode anywhere so i can have a look?).
Can the mod be safely removed from the server/clients later, if need be?
Also, i noticed some mentions of lots of birds ending up dead in water.
How bad is it?
I do not recall seeing any dead birds in water so far (not using any creature mods).
Is that a vanilla game issue?
I imagine that if the mod adds a lot of birds, it can greatly increase the chances of that issue happening.
The game is bad enough when small animals, not having swim animations, often end up in water - the last thing i need, is to add dead birds into the water everywhere.

I also am having a ton of crows spawning inside my base, we've built a fort and there are a large amount of crows that just keep spawning even after they've been killed off
So noticed it as well had in a small area like a 4x4 hole over 30ish crows and its in several holes around my base. Its causing quiet a bit of lag

There are dozens... i just killed 24 of them, and more are spawning, all in a very small area.
Before 1.1.6 I only had a handful of ducks nearby.
Also, is it possible they are spawning more and more in my flower field where the beehives are?

But flying Variants may disappear after a while.. luckliy they're just a way to show if theres crows in the area

the game isn't the best when it comes to air entities/animals they always stuck in water strangely enough

Since someone else commented on the swans, I felt I should share that I think they're the perfect size! Significantly larger than ducks, not huge compared to the seraphim. I was so happy to see some swimming with their babies :)

i dont know, why but every time i touch the cow i crash.
is there a use for the duck eggs? a duck snuck into our chicken pen and i dont really wanna kill the duck but it keeps dropping eggs that make me think they're chicken eggs, but i cant seem to cook with them (vanilla or expanded foods) or really do anything with them
I don't know what kind of work goes into making creature mods like this but if it's at all possible, it'd be really cute to be able to tame owls, crows, and robins. Even so, thank you for your work in adding these cute critters! ^~^

Hm thats indeed a strange bug..
since i dont even have any function/loaded stuff on player to my knowledge
i ran a quick creative world with a pickaxe swinging and only noticed that the hands frequently goes onto player when not using it
which i think its intended like an idle animation... - i cannot say this mod is the cause sorry (atleast not my end)
I don't know how it's related. After installing this mod, my hand animation disappeared. When I mine stone, I swing a pickaxe. After installing the mod, the hands are not displayed on the screen.
This is a very strange pattern. After removing the mod, the hands appeared again. Perhaps everything will be fixed after updating the game version (I have version 1.21.0-rc.4).

On the new map, after disabling the "More Animals" mod, in creative mode, I encountered a one group of swans only after 5,000 blocks. Nothing more. Maybe the animal spawns are too rare?
AzuliBluespots I also have "More Animals" installed, and I see that only the animals from that modification appear. I've checked dozens of lakes and ponds and haven't encountered a single duck.
I believe the duck had green details. Like I said, the crash was instant. I was in the creative menu to try and check if the animals were at least working, so I was gonna place one of them. As soon as my mouse stopped over one of them (what I was almost sure was a duck) to bring the context window up, the crash happened without a crash log window.
I'll get the crowdin translation and compare to your lang files, then post a pastebin link to it.

The birds getting stuck in water is a bug i dont seem to have a solution for currently they just end up in water and can't escape ive tried serval things through releases none worked
and with the ducks in current version they need atleast to be fed enough times to gain ability to drop eggs... currently no henbox needed or water.. they just lay em where ever they want
Further info im working on a testing update for 1.21.0 which includes the new henbox support they added for other animals In which they will really lay eggs in a box/nest
which will be present in 1.1.1 of this mod
@chiappo thanks for responding! the cage mod dose not work with this mod but idk which end that is an issue on. also i found a bug/glitch for you, birds keep getting caught and stuck frozen in the water not a huge issue just something that you might not have caught on your own. i love your mod, it adds just a little more life to the game! also im attempting to domesticate the ducks do they need water nearby and do they lay eggs in a hen box?

Hmm, maybe I was just unlucky with their spawn then. I am using 1.0.9, but I also was trying a handful of other mods - specially "more animals" with four or more species of birds - those were spawning fine.
Btw, I finished translating the mod to pt-br (brazilian portuguese) over on Crowdin. Thought I had done that before... It's the version citing both crumps and you.

Ive been recently going through to test 1.21.0rc2 and such and i had no issues with version 1.0.9 & upcomming version
I don't think the critters are spawning in version 1.21.0rc2. Couldn't find anything in the logs, but also couldn't find any of them in the wild. (also the game instantly crashed when I hovered the mouse over a duck in the creative menu, so there's that)
I know you're not there yet, just wanted to report it for later.
Keep going, the mod is great and I loved seeing the critters everywhere in the world.

Hey there. In the current version the hedgehogs may eat honeycombs ( which is partly a bee hive/skep) that means they have a chance to attack em right now (im fixing that asap i tottaly forgot it)
for owls they are currently scared off by player & scarecrow.. but their stop range distance is abit short (also fixing that too to work with big scarecrow)
and for ducks to transport you can catch em with reed baskets with any kind of grain or fruit mostly they eat anything
currently unsure if the cage mod works with this..
i hope that clears the questions for now :D
hey quick question, do the hedgehogs eat bees? i have one that im keeping as a pet and i want to know if its safe to let it rome in my apiary or if i should keep it out. also can the owls be scared away by scarecrows? im worried they might eat my ducks or chickens. third thing, how can you transport the animals? id like to catch some more animals but this mod dosnt seem to work with the cages mod and ducks dont seem to be tempted into reed basket traps

I would recommend to look on modconfig folder inside config for this mod
theres a function called Enable Ducks in a config file...
Use that and disable em all at once.. though the nests will not despawn (YET) i will do a real quick hotfix for that
EDIT: Adjusted the spawnrate of nests to less Frequently on runtime..

Still too many ducks, over 280 ducks on the map active and 300+ nests, so many that they are still stacking on top of eachother, please add a way to disable the ducks and the nests all together, I dont dislike the mod, but it is causing issues with the amount of ducks on the server. please make the nests and current ducks dissapear with disabling

@Chiappo You're welcome I do recommend vscode or another preferred editor with a language support addon if you're not already using it. It can be very helpful in adressing even small issues. If you would like me to provide the zip I made so you can make comparisons I'd gladly provide a link. I fixed some other small issues like duplicate entires and inccorect animations for a few animals.

To follow up my previous comment here's a list of the affected files.
This mod is the one causing the issue. Multiple property keys across a good few of the json files are not double quouted. The hedgehog-male.json is malformed and results in an EOF error. Resolving the hedge hog one fixes the issue with bola.
If you upload this to github I'd be more than willing to make a pull request.

i said theres patch issues on mod update a few versions ago and still its un-fixed on the bola mod end
the syntax got changed because i added a few things
therefore the issues appearing is not this mod but theirs

The male hedgehog json has multiple syntax errors. Fixing them also fixes the issue with the bola mod.

Okay im pretty sure this bug caused more harm than good
Im going to look into how often they spawn and lower it by alot if so
But as of currently 1.0.6 fixes alot of issues but still it can still happen because i were using Hare's spawn conditions based on time of block light not time of day
VERSION 1.0.7 will HOPFULLY fix that + more

routevenus Same here lol They even started spawning inside my beehive kilm where I put the fuel which is pretty annoying since it's hard to get in there and remove the carcass. Hopefully it gets fixed soon as this is a great mod and is always open for improvements.

I highly recommend to wait with version 1.0.5 as apprently theres a big load of ducks going overboard
And currently no plans for butchering or Xskills because they take alot of time to perhaps get working

If its too heavy load i would recommend switch back a version.. i know flying birds are causing errors.. otherwise turn off ducks entirely cause next version fixes that in modconfig with mallard ducks
its atleast a way to solve the heavy load of ducks

Hi, I love your mod... but I installed the latest update and I am now getting invaded by ducks! I had about 40 converge on my base and wandering around... killed a bunch of them, and now they are starting to come back. I have other mods, so it could be caused by something else. I checked the server error logs and the only errors I saw were related to the mallard nest trying to play animations which its' shape does not have. Is this intended behavior? Are there any additional logs or other information I can provide?
Just wanted to say, this is an awesome mod. Makes me desperately want birds in the base game. Other day went into my barn to find a literal barn owl trapped inside xD The ground animals are cool too, it's neat to just see a squrriel around or a hedgehog.
All I can think of is that tropical zones need an African swallow. LOL

The cause was all birds that got in the water made them fail to wander and went tottaly Nuts on behaviour
And by removing the cancel chance in wander task it somehow works now..
next version has that fixed.. hoping for no more big errors

Ive ran into the issue on my setup too but i couldnt check what was the cause
Apprently ive looked at it and i found out every flying bird was missing idle animations.. in task ai so it could explain why wander code were messed up
Otherwise i cannot explain whats the cause but it might be that :o

The sniff error isnt a big deal it's just me that forgot that there werent anything like that
to conclude the shape does not have (animation) its basic info ,meaning that it lacks like the setup for a special animation
In other words it dont exsist, typo, or something missing
but thanks for the bugreport.. new update is right around the corner if all goes as planned

i found the issue its because you use the 0.9.4 which was a tempory fix by crumps (not downloadable anymore)
and current version as of currently is 1.0.3.. which means it's abit outdated
Any older versions since 1.0.3 has minor issues on patches that should had been fixed by now..
i would highly recommend to update it to 1.0.3..

Xskills isn't currently supported on mod list and its also abit outdated from current version on page ( ive never added support for it )
the bit with mice yeah i tottaly understand - i will need to check further config mods or something to see if i can solve such
and the skeps eating thing i recall that raccoons love to grab em. could be that / or a critter of mine (not sure)
Edit: Can confirm i forgot to make flying birds / ducks / field mice NOT eat/seek honeycombs.. since they're considered fruit
And Fieldmice breeding have got a heavy nerf
they are now fixed in 1.0.3
Problems our large server have experianced:
- Vanilla animals somehow escaping pens (maybe stepping on other new aniamls, who knows?)
- Killing ducks gives -0.20 husbandry exp for xskills
- A config to disable mice breeding would be nice.
- Something, we arent sure what keeps eating skeps (two fence posts high)
This is sadly a No go, for our server =/

Hey! So i love this mod very much! And i love living next to mountains. I noticed that Wild Yak don't seem to be spawning on the mountains. I have been to 3 big snowy mountains and none have spawned :( The only thing ive really changed for mountains is max hight!

I removed The Critteres Package from my server and even after I removed it, it's throwing warning out like this for a bunch of mobs. Any chance theres a reason it's still throwing codes out from the mod but I removed everything related to the mod?

@Wulff The mice seem to congregate in clumps under my berries. So I dug a pit under them and all the mice end up in the pit. You can then kill off all the mice and you should see other animals spawn.
I love having hedgehogs! Will you be adding tooltips? I'm trying to figure out how to trap a hedgehog and what bait is needed. I attempted to use the bug net to obtain the snails and woodlouse, but no luck. Could this perhaps be something added in the future or a way to obtain live snails and woodlouse?
too many mice spawning. To the point i think it broke all animal spawns in my area. may just have to unsub from this. havent seen any other animals near my house in a very long time. just dozens and dozens of mice.
Since v1.20 i haven't seen any showing up in my game. Note i use the biomes mod. I know it's supported but soemthing is stoping them from spawning. :/

There are three options for solving the problem with mice:
1. Catch hedgehogs and release them near the house (in theory they should kill mice)
2. Exclude mice through the config (they reproduce very quickly)
3. Set a smaller spawn through a mod patch.

I agree with Nonamomo, I feel like at most they should give just 2-3 feathers, and if so have more use like if there are birds around, then maybe they could give us a chance to find eggs in a basket, or for other critters to be fertilizers like worms from primitive survival.

@LumpyAcidFish agreed. Never mind the ducks, even the crows are far to docile. Wild birds should be skittish and quick to flee. We already lost the dodo's because they didn't know better.
I love the ambience the birds add, but they make getting protein and feathers far too easy; their behavior needs to be re-worked, even if it's just to act like chickens who really like hanging around water.

Loving the ambience this adds to the game! Your ducks got me thinking... would love a loon in the game! Nothing like a loon call on the lake :) Hopefully that's not an insulting question, but... would it be as simple as swapping in a loon .oog in the mod files? I'd go as far as trying my hand at a loon skin, but not even sure where I'd start :)

Could you add a config to disable field mouse reproduction?
They tend to gather around certain berry bushes and then ravenously breed, without despawning. This causes some noticeable frame drops on my server when it isn't managed.
The ducks and the hedgehogs are my favorite animals in this pack. They are very well made IMO. 😀

The wild ducks seem overly tame around the player; and are quite happy to hang around and let me kill them one after the other. That's rather unfortunate, since they are a very easy food source as a result.

Secondly the things you said about snails shouldnt be an issue to solve, let me see what i can do with their speed + climbing function.. as the climb function apprently works better on bigger creatures
And yeah i know the birds sometimes get stuck or move derpy i have currently no easy fix for that.. as of speaking but im eagerly trying to fix it =)

Hello, I like your package for the ambiance it provides to otherwise silent worlds, thanks! Wanted to tell you my observations: duck/crows don't flee from me even when I'm right on top of them. Crow also ignored any damage and continued walking like nothing happened. Squirrels fled from me just fine.
EDIT: When I approached sleeping ducks, they fled from me. It looked like during the day they were stuck in some kind of loop for finding food or floating on water.

Okay so me and one of my friends cannot reproduce the issue.. and they work fine on our end.. we tested on both wolf pups and wolfdog pups and the feed tooltip appears and they can be fed with and without the critters package enabled

Sure thing. When I run those three mods (same versions, all pulled from the one-click install links) at the same time, the "Feed Pet" tooltip does not appear for me when holding a piece of raw meat or bone and looking at a wolf pup. Further, right-clicking the pup does not attempt to feed it to begin the taming process. When I disable The Critters Pack but leave the other two enabled, the Feed Pet tooltip appears, and I am able to right-click to feed / attempt to tame the pup.

Just dropping a note here that this mod seems to conflict with the tameable wolves mod (for me at least). Huge bummer because I really want to run both mods.
Commenting again now that i have used the mod for a few hours, it works great no game breaking bugs. But one thing i have noticed is the duck sounds are playing as if the mob were directly near the player even when they are few blocks away. Might be related to audio formating as per the other comment
Hedgehogs are for some reason able to spawn inside my house. All doors were closed, floor all made of cobblestone. They are also able to spawn inside of my pens and were killing my chickens. Might be something to look in to!

Sorry, me again. The watersplash sounds still do not play. I believe you have to do the following: lower walking priority below 2, make sure "fleeentity" is above walking priority (which is not the case atm) and make "getoutofwater" the highest priority, like 3. Also make sure to edit the 'priorityforcancel' entries accordingly. I did that and it works better. Thanks

@Kessem as much i would love to add Yak & Ducks To Be.. i have not done it cause it requires alot of setup... which im currently not able to do it properly.. so in all Sorry not yet will look into it at some point..

DrBubba ive have also been very annoyed by flying crows myself ingame turns out i messed up something with spawn areas & their hitbox and turn rate
Cookieie i have now lowered the decay time for woodlouse so it should'nt be an issue further on as its changed to 0.1 hour insted of 1.0 hour

Not sure if there's a way to resolve this, but your crows (I believe) seem to partially ignore walls and are constantly getting trapped in my house and then unable to get out again. I have three in here now and I also can't shoot them. Please send help soon.
I accidently killed a woodlouse. I pull out the knife, get a red cross but nothing happens. I can't get rid of it and I can't use the block it is on. Help! I love all the new critters in my world.

Could you set priorityForCancel: 2.10 for your squirrels? Would allow better compatibillity with the 'simple footsteps' mod. Otherwise they will not cancel their wander task as soon as they go into water, which will continue to play footstep sounds instead of water splash sounds. @chiappo

Were there any changes to it? I know we can't breed/keep them, but trapping for them to be food eventually could be a thing. I'm sure hedgehogs are hunted somewhere.
Also, make sure the squirrels give off one or no bushmeat. Last time I butchered a baby one, I got TWO redmeat pieces. It was hilarious 🤣
And for compatibility, maybe you can make your crabs drop crab meat from Primitive Survival if it's installed?

I absolutely love this mod, however the small animals need to know not to linger inside the berry bushes created by the Wildcrafts mod. I have also mentioned to them that I think the damage on getting poked is to high I believe. I have seen piles of squirrels, crows and hedgehogs, kittens too but that's another mod. So compatibility would be great.

Also the next Update will be released very soon which will add the European Robins & second version of Crows.. (both of these will only be flying around.. so do not worry about crows fly into your crops and eat it all YET...?)
once they release the hawk entity we will have proper flying ai that can attack and all that fun stuff, til then though, til then
edit : also to avoid the brightness from increasing the entity shape I've discovered if you just make it big in the model creator instead than it won't do that, there's a resize feature in the tools section, just select the origin block of your entity (mine are always named body) and increase it all, or decrease for babies

Crows seem to have a minor name bug. When killed, the body says "Dead Woodlouse".
Robin!!! Can't wait :D I imagine that modding a flying entity can be quite difficult so take your time and in the meantime we can enjoy already existing in mod animals :)
the next version adds a new bird (the European Robin) aswell a second type of crow that can fly around (This version will not eat any crops/berries) only the groundbound one.. i have yet to figure out a better way to make crows fly/eat/walk so in the meantime i'm doing this as a work around
Also a Modconfig is in the works (so you can turn off specfic creatures)
@Sindanarmo Glad you like them - and yeah the crows... i agree it would be great if they could fly but as it turns out i have not been able to make it work i even tried make 2 seperate types of crows one that flies and other that doesnt but they kept getting stuck in water (Flying once) AND going crazy then flying around for some reason...(Insane SPEED) i will have to check something again to check if i can solve it..
Hedgehogs are just perfect now :) Ducks also, crows are funny and make perfect crow sounds but can you make them fly at least a little? That would be really awesome cause sky is still kinda empty...

Alligators/Crocodiles would be a valuable addition.
For people like me who disable annoying surface drifters, having dangerous animals to deal with would balance the peaceful elements of the game.

I think it would be also useful to have a config similar to the one for Creatures&Critters allowing to disable some of them and/or make animals more climate dependent - for instance yaks live mostly in high mountains in rather cold parts of the world and having them in temperate climate in lowlands is kinda weird.
Broken i may plan on adjusting it to passively require Creatures and Critters Not mandatory! just gotta check something... so it can run alongside if any issues (will mean i will have to remove some of the animals sadly)
Minni6in i do not have the required skill/Knowledge to make them swim as the basegame does not allow such.. Edit: THey do though not SINK to buttom of water and animation is made tho

Wanted to let you know that there are a couple mods out there now that at current have some of your creature types in it. Check out Creatures and Critters & Lichen. The Yaks prolly be jes fine for sure ad the Auroch is quite different, but in C&C they have squirrels and snails (loads of diff ones for snails). As for all the others they sound fun. Will wait to get the mod until some sorting has been done. Might want to collab with Catasteroid , Minni6in , Lich. Maybe even Ahrondus since I saw a horse mod. I think if you all worked as a singular unit the life that would spring into the game would be amazing.
Edit: Yup, totally didn't see you had the * for the mods part for other ones that had similar critters.
Still think if you all would collab you could add a zoo to the game lol
