*********next update will remove redundant items i have from my other mods. this includes but not limited to items in all my mods(anvils-multi-tool,ect any mod that has a these are only to make my life and yours easy for updates" if you plan on using these items/blocks after the update i suggest downloading the mods for them Vintage-Anvils -   Vintage Multi-Tools -

so you can replace them ^_^

This will also expand on the current art chisel. will be knappable with any valid stone type. can be used in every vanilla recipe. stay tuned for this update in the coming days**********

This is nothing more but a simple add-on for  (Requires ****QP's Chisel Tools****mod to work). Great for early game chiseling/survival before copper

Player Note**Air drying clay vessel tends to go transparent if left on the ground when reaching 100%, i cant for the life of me figure out why. just break the vessel (empty pile) and place back on ground. if in player inv prior to reaching 100% then it will simply change.

This has been a journey for me. While the Progress  i have  made may not be spectacular to most, but  for me  releasing this was a big deal. Yet i feel this is just the start of something great that could unfold. I may slip up and make mistakes. If something you see that i dont with the mod speak up. say something. even make a suggestion or any feedback im ALL EARS. im a very open person. & My only limitations are that im a greenhorn at modding and understanding code. but im good with patterns from code. so reading other's work to understand the workings then applying to my own work, and with that along with a bit of  copy & paste along the way has been what helped me with this journey and without the help of QPTechBrady_The and NateDoesLife. not really sure whats what, im thinking of adding this to my server but it says the anvil is removed
but go to the anvil page and it says dont use with this mod
so do i need both mods or not to have all this mods stuff and the anvil?

This mod is currently breaking crocks for me. It makes them "Dryable" and when they dry, they lose all contents.

Reby I's glad your enjoying the mod ^_^ try and right click and extract all should create a folder. place that folder in the mod folder and remove the zipped one. look in the recipe/grid folder i was confusing your post with the one prior to it lol not a patch. sry abut that. lack of sleep gets to me and i over look simple stuff :P

SoggyGravel, ur mod is amazing, and really convenient for me, but IDK how to change the value, I tried to extract the zip file, edit the value and zip again but then the mod seems broken (missing mod info.json), I tried using 7-zip and open the archive without extract, edit the value and save, but the value is not changing

Reby i think your on the wrong mod (GrasStuff) . didnt know i left the rope recipe in the mod.Thought i removed it when making (GrasStuff) but ill leave it there(not removing it) for people who are use to it being there. but yes if you go into the assets/vintageartset/recipe/grid folder and look for rope. and change the amount of "game:drygrass" quantity  (or how many rope you get  back in the output). Also my mod (GrasStuff) is  patched for the taller the  grass the more you get 5 max per grass so it should be balanced. its only a issue  if the grass you start around  is very short. I have had this  happen .

Zeekakkeloebes that must have been left in during the testing drying  for clay. forgot  about that ^_^. ill have that patch file out the next update. ty for finding that. there is a folder named patches. 1 of the  files in that is the firewood. you can remove that 1 file if you dont want to  wait for the update. named "agedwooddry" in the games folder. ill have  a  update out today to remove the drying firewood.

I can't find it documented anywhere, but is there a reason why this mod makes it so that regular firewood dries into aged firewood, which burns at 1100 degrees for 27 hours? It's a little overpowered. :^)

Could be I'm doing something wrong, but I think it's this mod doing it.

Brick This mod is Focusing on letting the player make wooden pantographs and paintbrushes along with some early chiseling with a art mallet and art chisel . everythng else is for the player to discover. Images of 99% of items "offered" in the  gallery  ^_^

The description has a lot of text and yet I find myself lost as the meaningful information about what this mod actually offers seems to be missing.

While I agree the formatting on the description could use some work, and that it could use much less random coloration to make it more easily legible and more pleasing to the eye, there's no need to drop ableist insults that do nothing to improve the post.

For the mod author, I'd suggest to massively cut down on color highlighting and text. If something is crossed out, it probably doesn't need to be in the post. Lastly, if you need to categorize your post in a way that keeps it neat and brief, what I've seen some other mod authors do is put the text into a collapsible section, typically for lists of things- like in-depth descriptions of old change logs, or the tool durability list you have for this mod.

Also, and this is just a personal opinion, I don't think your apology message should be on this mod post. I don't know what happened, it's not my business, and frankly it shouldn't be anyone else's business- especially if they're the nosy type. Best to keep that kind of thing away from the public eye and between you and the other user.

EduardoPupucon Im still experimenting with the text format. If you have any suggestions im all ears. Is it to much on color? Careful as one "might" fall and break the 4th wall :P.. and just FYI the last site i made was  2005 geocites so this could explain my formatting  LMAO.. im still stuck in the "internet stone-age"

Compatibility with other mods can be done via patches, but there's a much simpler way.

Long-winded explanation:

The compatibility folder: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Modding:CompatibilityLib. Unfortunately the wiki page is worded rather poorly, but essentially it also allows you to create mod-dependent blocks, items, recipes, etc, which are only available if said mod is active. (Example: "woodenpantograph/assets/woodenpantograph/compability/MODID/itemtypes/woodenpantographs.json", "woodenpantograph/assets/woodenpantograph/compability/MODID/recipes/grid/woodenpantographs.json").
Note: You'll have to adapt these mod-dependent files to work correctly. Where you reference game:textures, you have to reference modid:textures. The same goes for recipe ingredients and the like.
Note: Unfortunately lang files are not supported. Strings which are created by those compatibility files have to be included in your main LANG.json files.

Another nice mechanic for this particular case would be: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Modding:InheritFrom. This might be a bit overwhelming at first, but it'll allow you to shorten your mod-dependent itemtypes woodenpantographs.json drastically from 128 to roughly 17 lines, depending on mod-specific attributes, such as a custom durability for modded wood types, etc.

Two more points I noticed:

  • You mistyped "dependencies" in your modinfo.
  • In the pantograph you defined the wood texture with a variantgroup variable. That doesn't work in shape files. In those you specify explicit textures (for example "oak"), which then can be overwritten by the definitions in itemtypes. It doesn't break anything, but it prints a warning message in the logs. I like clean logs.
  • The cypress pantograph most likely breaks, because you are calling it "cypress", while the game referrs to it as "baldcypress" (see survival/worldproperties/block/wood.json) .

 

Another point I forgot to mention in my last comment: You don't necessarily have to define "allowedVariants". You can remove the whole section. This way the game will just take any plank and use it. In certain cases this can lead to error messages, though, so it's best practice to either use "allowedVariants" ("skipVariants" exists too, btw) or keep an eye on the log files.

If you are stuck on adding compatibilities, I have created a small example you can download here. Note: The content of this zip is to be merged with your own mod.

Brady_The THANKS!!! ill make  that change in the next update. this can help with  debloating  the mod. the  less files the better. the Recipe is there  it just requires 10 at the moment due to a typo.

EDIT* after some  thought i came to see this will let me add in patches for mods that add new wood  types?

Hey there, I got curious about the missing maple recipe and so I had a cheeky look under the hood. If you wanted to, you could replace all woodtyped recipes with this one:

This way you only have to add new wood types into the list of "allowedVariants" to support them. You can set the name to anything you want in recipe files. They don't have to match the variantgroup codes in your itemtype files. As long as the name in the ingredients and the variable in the output match, you are good to go.
