Look no further...
Now you can craft single hung glass windows from glass blocks or leaded glass and wood planks. If you don't want glass, check out Sliding Wooden Shutters and More!
These windows are vertically centered within the block footprint, and 2 blocks high. The bottom sash opens up when interacted with. Sliding windows are all airtight when closed, just like doors. They have real collision, too. Works with RealSmoke and inherits nearly all vanilla Door behaviors. Supports all Wildcraft tree species!

This is my first code mod (I've done a few JSON ones but this is the first in C#)! If you have ideas for improvements, feel free to open a PR or Issue in the repo.
Known issues
There is a known rendering bug in VS that sometimes occludes (hides) other transparent blocks and particle effects if they're behind a partially-transparent object, like these windows or regular leaded glass panes and blocks. The bug is more than 3 years old now so I don't know when it'll get fixed. If you know something about weighted order independent transparency rendering, give it a shot and let us know how it goes.
