ORIGINAL MOD IS NOW REQUIRED

To make this actually a patch and not just a reupload with patched code, I've changed how I structured the JSON files so that now this mod requires the original mod.

This way folk can play it and the original mod still gets the traffic it deserves for making the original content.

Please go to Nionidh's mod page for the original Hanging Baskets Mod to get the original mod that this mod patches.

Unofficial 1.21.0 (Stable) patch for Hanging Baskets mod by Nionidh

[Will take down at their request, or if the original gets updated.]

Please Note: I don't want to give the wrong impression with this DB entry. I'm not taking over the original Mod's development, this is just a patch to get it to work on the 1.21 version of the game.

I've no plans to add new content to it, or add compatability to other mods. If I do something like that, it'll be for a mod I have more direct responsability for.

What this patch does:
I've reworked the original JSON files by patching their contents to accomodate 1.21+'s new way of handling clay firing and the different colors the player can make:

  • The patch ensures the many new flowerpot colors are supported, while keeping the original artisian flowerpots you obtain from traders as their own separate json file now.
  • The basket itself is largely the same as the original.

Looks like Daydream has figured out a solution to some of the logspam.

Any chance the two of yha might work together?

... or at least try to both work to let both patches work together?

I'd like to reiterate that this is just a patch for 1.21 compatability, I didn't think about other mods when I made the previous comment, but I need to say I don't plan on adding mod compatability to this mod.

It's not my mod. If I add content/compatability to a mod I'd rather it'd be for something I made, I don't want to override someone else's work with my own, and I don't want maintaining unofficial patches to become a focus of my work.

The purpose of this patch is to make a mod I enjoyed using work with the current version of the game. If other mod makers want to add compatability and reach out with their patch code, I'm not opposed to assisting, but my own projects need to take priority over unofficial patches for mods I am not personally the creator/manager of.

Floral Zones mods now have more types of baskets made of diffrent materals such as coconut husk, bullrush and palm frond baskets. Also there is a mod that has vine baskets. And of course all the cane baskets in wildcraft. And bark baskets. Please add more types of baskets from other mods! Thanks!

Just a headsup, i've changed the mod to no longer be stand-alone. hence the change in version number back to 1.0.0, and the removal of previous mod versions.
After asking about best practices in the discord, I was advised that since the source code didn't have a license associated with it, reposting a mod of the original code was technically a problem should the original modder take issue with it.

I've reworked the code to now be a proper patch and not just a 'patched reupload'.

You will need to download the original mod to make this mod work.
I tested and the only errors that I received were regarding the original mod being marked as content while still having a .dll/.cs file.

So your logs shouldn't be spammed for having the original mod installed while this patch is also installed.
I made it so this mod lists the original as a dependancy so it shouldn't be easy to forget it.

Thanks again for folks' support and other modders' advice on best practices.

Also, to reiterate for clarity, this is just an unofficial patch of the original. I don't intend to add any content to it beyond compatability with the latest version of Vintage Story.
If I am going to make new models/content, I would rather they be in a mod of my own or with direct collaboration with the original modder, as apposed to just taking someone else's work and inserting my own content.

Thanks for point that out, didn't know the handbook accomodated for extra items returned by grid recipies.
Was an easy fix despite me not being the original creator.

💬 MrFastZombie, Sep 24th at 8:57 PM

Thanks for updating the handbook page!

💬 MrFastZombie, Sep 24th at 1:36 AM (modified Sep 24th at 1:37 AM)

I'm still seeing the normal recipes for the coil of rope but they cycle with the hanging basket recipes. Would be ideal if they were shown seperately.

💬 Ikkus, Sep 23rd at 11:31 PM

This breaks the coil of rope recipe in the handbook. It only shows up as hanging basket -> coil of rope.

💬 ICountFrom0, Sep 8th at 11:16 AM

I can confirm that bricklayers does not break anything, so that's good enough for me.

If you do go further someday, I can only hope.

It's purely a fork, I wasn't planning on doing anything too new with it beyond making it work for 1.21.0, i might try making something with my own code down the line, but right now i'm trying to get my overhaul mod up and running.

💬 ICountFrom0, Sep 7th at 3:37 PM

Nice.  I might transition.  I admit I was using the old one, and mostly for the hanging baskets, and not minding the complaints at launch, but if there's even a chance that I might be able to hang other ones, it's worth jumping a fork.

Oh, think you might have the time to make this play nice with the pots from bricklayers?  Or am I asking for something it's already ready to do?

The log spam was what took me a while to get cleaned up.
1.21 has new fired clay varients, all those colored ceramics, so you are probably seeing the missing recipies for them.

I had to rework the JSON files to accomodate the new flowerpots, ended up splitting the fancy artisan flowerpots you get from traders into their own file because they didn't share the same naming scheme the new flowerpots do.

I think it gets rid of most logspam aside from the "this content mod found .cs files" or some such.

💬 ICountFrom0, Sep 7th at 3:27 PM

There's a bit of logspam at the start in the original 1.19 (and later) versions of hanging baskets, does this fork fix that, or does it only make it able to see, and hang pots you've made youself now?

💬 wbluesky, Sep 7th at 3:24 PM

LunaGore Oh neat when did that happen? I've still got an anvil mold floating around in my base from the before-times apparently lol. That CustomFlowerpots mod allows you to make a planter out of an anvil mold, so it -could- be an option, it'd just be a collosal thing to hang full of soil lolol.

💬 LastHazzerd , Sep 7th at 3:04 PM

wbluesky

Not a bad concept, though I made this mostly because i wanted to use the mod in 1.21 as well.
I'm a bit in deep with a different project at the moment. but i'm wondering if it's possible to change the way this mod works by taking advantage of attachment points.
Like rather than individual block items for each variant of flowerpot, just a single rope holder with an attachment point for various planters in the game, something similar to shelves.

But that'd be a totally different mod at that point, could be a future project, or someone else could make it.

💬 LunaGore, Sep 7th at 2:46 PM

wbluesky Anvil molds are broken when the metal inside is hardened now, so unless you're making anvil molds specifically for flowpots you wouldn't have the ability to use them.

💬 wbluesky, Sep 7th at 1:23 PM

Thank you! I had been working on this but I don't know enough about how all of this is structured to make much headway.. I had the recipe working at least! The textures were very broken though. I see you split it out into the standard/fancy as well. Thoughts on integrating this with https://news.kalataka.ru/customflowerpots ? Just think, we could have hanging boots! Maybe not anvil molds..

💬 Sianks, Sep 7th at 11:19 AM

I didn't know I NEED this mod. THANK YOU

💬 Faeldray, Sep 7th at 10:22 AM

Amazing, thank you so much!

💬 osayra, Sep 7th at 8:21 AM

I love  you
