That is correct, the lanterns only emit the colour, and don't have the actual coloured parchment in the displayed model.
I will consider changing that for the next patch 😉

Ahh yes, the random rotation when placing the lanterns.. It was a design choice at the time I made the mod, but I will look to see if I can add a config option to turn it off, if that would be desired?
Does this work with 1.21.5?
So I was testing some lanterns in creative and I thought that the blue floating lantern would have blue parchment when placing like how it looks in the inventory but it didn't look blue. I don't know if that is intended or not but I'm a bit disappointed :'D. It's nice that it glows blue in the darkness.
Could you patch with the Materal Needs mod since you both use cyan and brown dye?

appologies, i was having inate lantern issues caused by i believe salties immersive lanterns
for what ever reason all light level values were half of what they were meant to be and i assumed your mod was at fault as it was the most recent one i installed and salties mod doesnt mention affecting the actual light level but only adding visual changes in the form of sway and sound effects

For the metal lanterns that are adjustable? Yes, just keep clicking, and they revert back to full light again.
is there any way to revert the light lvl changes for the lanterns???

The mod version is apellanterns-v1.20.10-1.1.2 and the Vintage Story version is 1.21.4 (stable)

What version of the mod are you trying to use, and what version of the game are you trying to use it in?
This looks like you're trying to use an old version meant for 1.20.12, on 1.21.*

When I load the mod, I get this error: [Error] Grid Recipe with output Item code appelantterns:coloredpaper-parchment-pink contains an ingredient that cannot be resolved: Block code game:bowl-fired I'm getting errors for all the colors. I only gave you the example with one of them, but the error appears for all the colors.El_Neuman

I think I have managed to track down the part that is giving you issues, and will release a patch for that asap.
Edit: This issue should be patched out in the new version. Could you give me some feedback if this fixed your case, please?

Could you elaborate please? Which of the coloured lanterns?
The coloured floating lanterns are all emitting "white" light, is this what you had in mind for the other types as well?

Hi, love the stone lanterns, but i got a crafting issue about them.
I want to build different parts in bulks, but i can only craft one by one because the plumb and square go back in my hot bar between each craft, while other element of the recipe stay in the recipe grid.
Is there a way to fix that?
Hello, I absolutely love this mod! Unfortunately I have a small issue and I'm not sure how to fix it. I accidentally placed one of the disassembled lantern pieces and now it floats inside my house. It won't let me place a block on it or break it but it doesn't collide with my hitbox that I can tell. I tried some /bir commands but it says "Argument 1 (new_block) is missing". Do you know what I could do to get rid of this block? Thanks!

Looks like a vanilla schematic problem, unrelated to this mod. I've reported the issue on the official tracker.
Update: The issue have been found and dev's will patch this bug in the next version. Ref. Issue #6880

every recipe i tried for parts with plumbing square and rocks not working
they are in handbook but then cant craft em :( tried diffrent tools and diffrent rocks but nothing
Found you a new error (Vanilla, no other mods):
Cannot fix itemstack mapping, item/block id 4937 not found in old mapping list. Will delete stack.
Other ID's 4562, 4866. Seems to spam during chunk gen in the main log.

A typo in the block remapping file, caused everything else to go haywire, and a 6-7hr long bug-hunt 🤪

This is realy strange, as this mod shouldn't affect anything regarding spawning 🤔 Everything worked with no errors on my own tests before I packaged and released it.
Loading this mod (v1.3.0 for 1.21.0) seems to cause structures to not spawn. The Structures/GenDungeons module fails to load from the Survival base.

What? I've never heard of this happening before, and this mod does nothing that should impact the crates in any way. Could you check in your "clientsettings.json" file, and see what values it has for "maxTextureAtlasWidth/Height" ?
If it's 2048, try increasing it to 4096 and test again. If it's 4096, increase it to 8192.
It's the only thing I can think of that might impact rendering of textures.
If you also could post your mod-list, I could try to recreate the issue and do some debugging.
If I load into a server away from crates with labels and then walk to where the crates are, the labels show as missing texture question marks. I've verified through isolation it's this mod specifically that causes this. Any ideas?
Amazing work. I love the floating lanterns for the water. Only issue is just they don't recolor but it's not a game breaking bug lol
EDIT! The GLOW of the color works fine. The Paper just isnt dyed the color of the light so it was throwing me off.

Is there any chance you can make the lanterns so they can be placed in your offhand? Certain lanterns like the gothic one take a lot of work for even a single one, and it'd be nice to be able to carry it with you as a trophy til you can make them en-mass later on.

Second, I can't troubleshoot something with no info. Crash logs? Modlist? Screenshots?
Use the issue-tracker and supply relevant info, I can't find needles on the moon.
Edit: I just tested HudClockPatch together with my mod, and they work flawlessly together, no issues. I can not replicate your issues.

No oil lamps currently, sadly, as there are no good source for oil in vanilla game at current state. I might add some in later updates tho, as several people have asked for that feature.
Does this mod include oil-fueled lanterns? I'd like to upgrade my oil lamps and torches to some proper lanterns but I haven't got a skep setup for making beeswax, and I couldn't find any other mods that included lanterns that used oil instead of wax for fuel
cool, I just run my own server so i see all the logs and i make sure i report things as sungle players and clients who dont run one never see them and some errors go on a long time just because no one let anyone know. Thanks for the cool lantern changes.. game needs some variety at times. I use the QP chisel mod a TON.. spend hours making doors and chests and all kinds of variations of things so this is really cool!

Really like this mod, love the design for the lanterns. Small heads up going into 1.2, I believe powderedsulfur was changed to powder-sulfur for the recipes for 2 of the medieval lanterns. Aside from that note, I haven't noticed any issue on the most recent build.

It's a design by choice.
Some lanterns will not be able to carry in off-hand, as they are not meant to be used that way. Either because they are too big and cumbersome to reasonably be used as a carried lantern, too heavy or just don't look good when carried in the offhand position.
is it on my site or is that mod don't add off-hand for new lamp?

I opened the entry for one of the lit lanterns and the first recipe it shows is to use an unlit lantern. The ACTUAL recipe shows up a second later and they alternate. I wasn't giving it enough time to cycle to the full recipe. All good!
I’d like to add to Hydromancerx’s list with a cruise lamp. I’m a historian, and one of my deeply niche interests is historical lighting methods. The cruise lamp is one of my favourite and is very underrepresented.

What lanterns don't have recipes? Screen shot?
All variants have an "unlit" version that you can find in creative, but there are no recipes to make the unlit versions directly. Are those the ones you miss?
You first have to make the lit version, and then you can switch to the unlit one in the crafting grid if you'd like to use that one.

These models look great in game. I like that the hanging variant has a little connecting chain. The weird metal stick on the vanilla lanterns always bothered me.
