Extremely simple json mod that changes "sidesolid:" to always be true for axle.json, chute.json, chute-cross.json, chute-straight.json, chute-t.json and archimedesscrew.json.
Tired of all your blacksmiths being cold in the wintertime because you have a chute or axle going through a ceiling or wall? Worry no more as this mod sets all chutes and axles to be solid meaning your room will finally be enclosed and detected as a room. This mod adds no new blocks and as such can be safely added or removed mid-playthrough! This mod doesn't currently make any other mechanical objects solid besides axels, this shouldn't be needed but if people request it or if people on my server complain I'll upload another version with further mechanical objects set to solid.
This mod was mod was put together for my server, it was made alongside another mod for making chiseled blocks solid. If that interests you then you can get that over here!
If you want a mod that adds seperate blocks for this check out Pass-Thru Chutes and Axle in blocks. MBR was made to not add new blocks, to make it easier to add and remove the mod.

Unrelatable Recent blog posts from the devs seem to suggest they are adding a way to pass through axles through blocks. So this mod probably won't be required in the future. As for the sound problem, I haven't been able to recreate it myself in the latest version which is kinda an issue when it comes to fixing it lol.
any update to this mods sound problem / chiseled block retentions visual bug? cant wait to use 'em!
SuperCrock Yes I'll be putting out a new version soon (BUT it should still work fine in latest version)! Are you sure those mechanical blocks aren't blocking sounds? I wasn't able to recreate this issue myself. EDIT: Nevermind I was able to recreate the issue, the next version should fix the sound problem!
Any updates to this? It works perfectly but wish it would block out the rain, snow and sounds.
Interzoneism Sure I can update it to do that!
ChimMAG this mod works in 1.21 with no issues (33 hours of heavily modded gameplay)
Will you be updating to the new version of the game?
Hey! Would you consider adding a small change to each json? To make the blocks block out weather sounds as well. You just add this last part to the json:
{
"op": "replace",
"path": "/sidesolid/all",
"value": true,
"file": "game:blocktypes/mechanics/axle.json"
},
{
"op": "add",
"path": "/rainPermeable",
"value": false,
"file": "game:blocktypes/mechanics/axle.json"
}
]
Krougal I didn't realize it wasn't already a full block from the top. I'll take a look at it and see about adding it.
Can you add the hopper?
I litterally posted about this exact probelm a week ago on the subreddit, Thank you so much for the mod!
AtomikRonin Glad to hear it! You should be totally safe to remove the mod at anytime too. It doesn't replace any blocks or anything so it'll all work like vanilla if you ever have to remove the mod. That was my intention with this as while there are other mods that provide this ability, all of them add new blocks. And I didn't like the idea of having so many ? blocks in my builds if I ever removed the mods.
I went ahead and grabbed this one too. Such an easy to use mod, future-proofing in the even something happens.
