Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.19.4, 1.19.5 and 1.20.0-rc.1, outdated):
whatmodwasthat_1.0.3.zip
1-click install
This is alpha at the moment, backup your saves!
For Everyone:
Keep a convenient list of what mods were loaded the last time you opened a world. Be able to see which mods you used to have but are missing now or have updates waiting on the VS ModDB!
The list is not a preview! The tooltip shows what mods/versions were loaded the last time the world was opened. We can't mod the main menu.
After you load a world with this mod installed it should add a list of mods to the tooltip you get when hovering over a save file

Options:
- Auto hide mods that you remove
- Auto unhide mods that you re-add
- Only show mods that have been changed
- Toggle showing new versions on ModDB on/off (Nice for running older game versions)
- Show names or modIDs on the tooltip (Useful for changing settings)
Colors:
Colors are VTML colors in hex color format (eg. #06D6A0)
- Individual or all Icons can be set/reset with hex colors of your choice
- Try out different colors then reset to the standard palette
-
- Mod updated to new version
-
- Mod added to world
-
- Mod was loaded normally
-
- Mod has an updated version on ModDB
-
- Mod was missing/was removed
Icons:
Not many icons are supported in the main menu and some crash the game so no customizable icons for now
Commands:
/whatmod : Show the current tooltip and list of commands.
/whatmod hide [ModID] : Hide a mod from the tooltip. /whatmod show [ModID] : Show a hidden mod from the tooltip. /whatmod hideall : Hide all mods from the tooltip. /whatmod showall : Show all hidden mods from the tooltip. /whatmod togglenames : Toggle tooltip between names and modIDs. /whatmod listids : List all loaded mods in chat. /whatmod tooltip : Show the current tooltip in chat. /whatmod toggleoption [Option] : Toggle the specified option. /whatmod seticoncolor [Icon] [Color] : Sets the color of the specified icon. /whatmod reseticoncolor [Icon] : Reset the color of one or all icons. /whatmod debugremove : Remove all WhatModIsThat data from the worldConfig. Any command with options can be left blank to get a list of suggestions(ModIDs, Icons, or Options)
For Modders
Your mod name, modID, and version are shown on tooltips.
Because of the limited space names/modID is cut off at 20 char and version is cut off at 8
If your mod is hosted on ModDB a link will automatically be genereated to it on world load
Planned Features:
- Mode for just watching to see if mods need updating
- Folders or Tags that allow mass mod management
- Track Client-Side mods (Like UI and retexture mods) as well for singleplayer games

would love to see this kind of tool tip added to the relevent item descriptions and handbook pages of modded content!
most of the time the list on save menu just overflows due to amount of mods
Looks good
