Do you love destilling and fermenting alcohol but don't know what to do with it or wish you could sell it but don't want to add entirely new traders for it? Well have i got the mod for you !

Simple patch that allows you to sell all drinkable vanilla alcohol to various traders in 3L jugs, why not buckets ? I wanted to make the jugs relevant because they feel like a forgotten relic when you acquire a saw to make buckets, or you don't even make them in the first place. Prices are set according to the effort or time it takes to make the specific alcohol, i tried to keep the vanilla balance and not make it too easy to sell but let me know if something feels off !

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Traders buy the following:

-Agriculture Trader buys ciders

-Artisan buys ciders

-Build Materials Trader buys wisky and vodka

-Clothing Trader buys meads (both normal and destilled)

-Commodities Trader buys ales

-Furniture Trader buys meads (both normal and destilled)

-Luxuries Trader buys wines

-Survival Goods Trader buys ales

-Tresure Hunter Trader buys brandys

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disclaimer:
Due to colored jugs being their own variants traders ONLY buy alcohol in dark brown jugs, these are the default fired jugs from pit kilns for both red and blue clay. Meaning you can not use jugs made from beehive kilns for now

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Compatability:

-Should be compatable with everything since its a merge patch file

-
Since its a patch it should stay compatible with updates unless traders get updated

Thank you so much for this mod. I absolutely love making alcohol and I finally have a profitable outlet for it thanks to your hard work. ❤️

Okay so bad news: I found a thread from 8months ago about almost the exact same issue and what i found out is that traders do not use wildcards at all, when i tried they would break the whole tradelist and adding even one more colored variant massively drowns out all other sell options so not ideal either. The alcohol options already seem pretty weighted as i'm getting at least 2 variants on almost any trader wich is fine but adding more would exasperate this issue by a lot

So in light of this i will keep it at just brown jugs, not great i know but they are the default fired jugs for pit kiln. What i could do is add dark brown jugs to the beehive kiln firing, blue clay has one open spot for it with 3 hatches open. I'd make this a companion mod tho, i'm sure some people won't want this change for whatever reason. Have to figure out how to do this so it may take a while

@FatherSarge

Thank you for this info, i hadn't really figured out how i might achive this. I'll mess around with it to see if it works!

Yes! This is what this game needs! Now my obsessive winemaking is more than just winter fruit saturation!

You might be able to pull it off using jug-*-fired, wildcards is how I fixed some older mods from pre-1.21

That will either make them accept any jug... or add every colored ceramic to the buying list. I suppose if that happens you can offset by giving them the ability to buy more stock from the player.

You may be able to do this with the alcohols too "ciderportion-*" but don't quote me

@LostnoFrost

They only buy the dark brown jugs as technically the other jugs are their own items even when filled, so i would have to add every single variant to the list wich is possible but i thought it would clutter the sell window too much (there are 8 different colored jugs in total, multiply this by every alcohol variant...) and especially before you have a beehive kiln it would be kind of annoying seeing the colored jugs if you already made alcohol.

I don't know if its possible to make the traders ignore color variants and just match the liquid type but i figured dark brown is the default fired ones so i went with those. Thats one issue the buckets don't have (for now) since they are all one variant regardless of plank types used

Alternatively i could add one or two of the colored variants from the beehive kiln wich won't clutter it too terribly much, although i might have to redestribute the trade list a bit for some traders. Let me know and i'll work on it, its pretty much just coppy paste work at this point :)

Like this idea! Gotta ask, does this have any problems with coloured jugs? As in, will the traders buy only the colour of jug listed?

I imagine there could be problems if they only took dark brown jugs since you can't make those in a beehive kiln iirc.
