Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.18.13, outdated):
Plants To Grass.zip
1-click install
Craft dry grass from plants and ferns using a knife.
Plants = 1 dry grass.
Ferns = 2 dry grass.
These are are shapeless recipes... it doesn't matter where, in the crafting grid, you place the plant and knife.
Thanks ot Netix, there is a variant of Plants to Grass that supports The Alchemy Mod! You can find both here:

Hello, i love this mod, finally gives use to all the fern invading my village.
I recently started using Alchemy ( https://news.kalataka.ru/alchemy#tab-description ) and saw that your mod conflicts with that mods recipe for getting seeds for their plants.
I made a modification to your code to exclude the plants used for alchemy so you can get seeds and if you want to post it on your place as a "compatibility file- choose one or the other" let me know.
Have a nice day.
Tried in 1.19.8. Seems to be working fine
Will this work in 1.19? If not, will it be updated?
This is going to be so useful! Such a great use for ferns, cause atm they are so useless! Thank you for doing this!

I really like having a shapeless recipe... so says the lazy me!
For the sake of compatibility, its worth making your suggested change. As soon as I have time available, I'll tackle that!
If you use a shaped recipe like {K = Knife, P = Plant)
K 0 0
P 0 0
0 0 0
Its recipe would not conflict.

I didn't see anything in Wildcraft's recipes that has a conflicting recipe. I am super new at this and just may not be seeing it.
My mod uses a "blanket" method to cover all plants at once. As mentioned, I'm super new at this... with the currrent method I'm using, I don't know how to isolate and exclude just the horsetail recipe... at this time.
With the Horsetail (modded) recipe from I think Wildcraft, there's a conflict as both mods want to use the knife and horsetail, since it's a rather useful plant could you please consider removing this recipe from your mod?
