Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.18.1, outdated):
SelectiveKeepOnDeath_v2.1.4.zip
1-click install
Allows for keeping specific items upon death, rather than only dropping everything or only keeping everything.
By default, keeps bags, tools, armor, and clothing. This is completely customizeable in the settings' .json, and includes a whitelist & blacklist for specific item asset codes to respectively keep or drop. Also allows dropped items to have their durability damaged, or be deleted entirely instead of dropped in the world, if you want that extra bit of challenge.
Items are checked to be kept/dropped in the following order:
Blacklist > Whitelist > AlwaysDiscardedInventoryTypes > KeepEverything > KeepEquippedClothing > KeepEquippedArmor > KeepArmor > KeepClothing > Keep Bags > KeepTools

anyone know if this still works on 1.20?
Did you ever find out if it works?
Ryuu
This still working for 1.18.8 .net7? Anyone able to confirm?
Maybe it's the server, maybe it's a setting I put in, but we were getting duplicated items in our inventory in multiplayer. It was weird. Had to revert to player corpse and I kind of didn't want that, but it's working for what I wanted at least (meaning, the dummy friends are actively avoiding death, as hard as it is in the early game. So, success.)
Would love compatibility with Player Corpse mod. Currently, it seems like I can't use both, as Player Corpse overrides this mod's settings.
I'd just like to be able to have my player keep what's in their hot bar, but then drop everything else inside a container (like a grave/corpse) as opposed to simply floating around on the ground.
I'll try it, thanks a lot!
I didn't see anything that truly broke when using the new .dll's as dependencies, but I've gone ahead and rebuilt it using the 1.18.1 version of VS. No current plans to add new features until I get interested in VS again, apologies.
If it's still not working, not sure what would be the problem. Try using a relatively default config and no other mods installed to see if it still works, and/or if anything is cropping up in the console.
Ok, it's probably with quotations, but nonetheless the mod doesn't seem to be working on 1.18.x at all :( This would be a much better option than player corpse.
Can someone help me? I'm trying to edit the config file, could it be possible to whitelist specific bags like the mining bag? As in, not only it carries rocks and more with more slots, but will protect things inside it that would otherwise be dropped?
Also adding stuff to blacklist and whitelist, should it be with or without quotations?
Like
*torch-basic* or "*torch-basic*" ?
I'm using this to keep my friends from going sepukku-teleport-happy in our next playthrough :) We'll have bigger bags and other means of coming back, so... Yeah.
Amazing, Thank You so much! I can't play enough to be replacing items all the time so I had to turn drop everything off but not having a penalty at all makes it to easy and dying just becomes a teleport home.
@Agroku I've pushed a new version that should make that possible. Just set KeepEverything to true, then add hotbar and mouse to AlwaysDiscardedInventoryTypes. You should keep everything except for what's in your toolbar/hand.
Would it be possible to make it so you only drop what's in your toolbar and hand but not your bags or their conents?
