Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.21.0 and 1.21.1, potentially outdated):
QuicklimeInKilnv1.1.1.zip
1-click install
In Pitkiln:
In the crafting grid you can combine 16 lime with a pot. The filled pot can be fired in a pitkiln like in vanilla and one pot takes one of the four quadrants in a pitkiln. Once it is fired you can remove the quicklime from the pot using the crafting grid.
This method is more efficient as it turns 16 lime into 10 quicklime per pot. Lime bricks can also be fired in a pitkiln but it is more efficient to use a beehive kiln.
In Beehive Kiln:
Using the crafting grid shape three lime into a brick. These can be fired in a beehive kiln to turn them into Quicklime bricks. The whole 3x3x3 space can be used for maximum fuel efficiency.
Afterwards the Quicklime bricks need to be pulverized to turn them into usable quicklime.
This method is slightly more efficient as using the pots in pitkilns, it turns 3 lime into 2 quicklime (The vanilla method turns 2 lime into 1 quicklime).

It would be great if this worked for calcified flint (cooking it in a beehive kiln instead of a fireplace to make calcified flint)
It takes the same amount of time and temperature as vanilla items. Any fuel is fine and it needs to be above 950C for 9 hours total. This can be done in multiple firings or one continous one.
And textures disappearing at 1200C is a vanilla bug. MadPixie
Hi, wondering how long it should take for the lime bricks to turn into quicklime bricks using the beehive kiln? Also, do I have to use coal/charcoal for the process to complete successfully? I've currently ran the kiln through once with firewood, but when I opened the door all the bricks said "Lime" still.
This might also just be me not fully understanding beehive kilns as I've never used them before. The texture of the bricks also dissapears on 1.21.4.
Im not sure. Are you using the right version? 1.1.0 is only compatible with VS 1.20 and 1.1.1 only with VS 1.21. eragonawesome
I may just be missing something, but the "lime in pot" recipes and textures seem to be missing. I can make lime bricks just fine, but "lime in pot" just shows up as a pot with a missing texture in the guide book and only the "get lime out of the pot" recipes seem to exist. Any ideas?
Could this mod be expanded to do the same with flint as well?
should work now for 1.21
thanks FayeKat for the pointer on where to start FayeKat
I tinkered around and got the mod working in 1.2.1-rc7. The only change that needs to be made is that "claypot-burned" needs to be changed to "claypot-{color}-fired" in the following files:
limeinpotrecipe.json
limeinpotrecipereturnlime.json
quicklimefrompotrecipe.json
Are there plans to update this mod for 1.21? It's one of my go-to mods.
great job
well the main nerf is that it processes less overall, to bring it more in line with the beehive kiln method.
but the ratio is lowered aswell (16:10), if it was the same it would be 16:10,666. Akari_Enderwolf
The 1.1.0 update is actually a buff for the pitkiln method, not a nerf, yes it's lower numbers, but it's less loss. there was a loss of 8 items for the old numbers, the difference between 24 and 16, and the update makes the loss only 6 items. which makes it a buff in how much quicklime we get per lime.
It does seem to work in 1.20.3
I love this mod! anyone tested it on 1.20?
Lovelly mod, and easy to understand.
One thing I'd personally like to see is a custom "Guides" entry listing how to use the mod ingame, for use in servers.
Can we get this to also work with flint?
Pottery is fired at 1100+ degrees Celsius, so yes, a pit kiln by definition can reach that high.
Kurazarrh Thx for the appreciation! I am unsure that a pitkiln can realisticly achieve the needed 825°C, but with the right type of wood, or coal, it maybe can. But I think this is a nice solution for now, maybe we get a lime kiln in the future.
Oh man. I have GOT to try this out. I've been dying for a quicklime solution for a long time. No idea if this solution is realistic, but it's kind of close enough to a lime kiln that it makes me happy! Thanks for making this mod.
