After some time playing the game, I'm sure you have noticed that each armor you can get through your journey, have a different design depending on its used materials to craft it, while it is cool that there is a lot of variety through progression, didn't you ask or thought yourself that it would be nice to have those available for any (equivalent) armor?

Lets say you make a full set of good old reliable chainmail, tinbronze in this case, and instead of sticking with its base design you can now choose an alternative design within the game,

which can either be the helmet or the body armor, lets say you want the very same design like the gold chain armor, now you can have it with this metal.

(Images in the preview are simple examples of what the mods offers, just to get an idea of what it does)

To get each armor design you don't have to do something fancy like searching/buying crafting scrolls or unlocking it with class exclusive recipes, instead you'll have it available at the very first time and you only need its original materials, the trick is, that the recipe is rearranged with a different pattern than the original one.

Things to keep in mind when using this mod:

No recipes are cheaper than original counterparts, but instead they can be slightly more expensive.

Every armor type (lamellar, brigandine, chainmail, scale and plate) that appears in this mod, has the same protection, durability and downside values as with the

original sets in the game, they do not differ besides looks.

Alternative Chain armor  can be used to make vanilla armor, this means you can actually make Scale and Plate armor without softlocking your resources.

DESIGNS AVAILABLE:

(keywords to differenciate each armor piece by their base design)

Every armor set and their items are based on one material made armor, for example, you can have all metals with the Scale copper helmet,

but no Copper variant will be available as it is already in the game.

Lamellar armor (wood, copper & bronze)

Head:

Wooden design: "Simple" (only covers the top of the head).

Bronze design: "With neck armor" (also coverts the back of the head)

Exclusive desing for Copper:" With copper decoration" (it has a cross on top of the head with a matching color)

Body:

Wooden/Copper design: "Full armguards".(has both pauldrons and armbands)

Bronze design: "Only torso" (only some pelt on the shoulder)

Exclusive designs: "Only armbands"; "Pauldron only".

[as for these two, they only change the armbands design, which is a little hard to spot to be honest]

Silver/gold design: "Gothic" "(blue)" (same as previous one but with blue gambeson beneath)

Silver/gold exclusive design: "Gothic" "(purple)" (same as previous one but with purple gambeson) [exclusive for Blackbronze]

As an additional change, gold and silver chain textures were "fixed", as the tip of the feathers clipped with the chain textures, resulting in a weird metalic tip on them.

Compatible with:

Combat overhaul (applies the same principle within the mod, no additional stat changes or recipes, but only cosmetic, plate armor recipes will remain the same)

Possible additions in the future:

- Alternative plate designs with Blackguard and Forlorn for other metals.

If you happen to encounter any error or misspelling in the mod, notify it to me and I'll see to fix it as soon as possible.

If you happen to ask for a compatibility with other armor mods, I could try to make for variants for other armor mods, but thats not guaranteed at all.

Ace_Bright I've checked what was going on and both the basinet and armet share the same pattern technically, I didn't noticed that was the case, I'll fix that right away with a different pattern.

Wrigglypete

what do you mean with its stats? all protection values and debuffs are (supposedly) the same as vanilla ones.

Do you mean to the base armor from the mod or from the Overhaul Combat patch? if thats the case I don't know how to fix the clipping between armors and its combined negative stats, as I've just followed the instructions from that mod which said it was "easy", following the patch it is basically the same thing as in that mod but adapted for this one, but I'll try to investigate to fix that.

stats of the alternatives are nothing like the original. my healing effectiveness goes into the NEGATIVES!! the skullcap clips into helmets as well :(

💬 Ace_Bright, Oct 30th at 8:50 PM

How do you make the iron Armet? For some reason it only let me craft the Iron bascinet when I follow the recipe

VixitheFolf what z cliping? you mean combining different layers of armor isn't? If it is that I'll see what I can do to fix it. If you can, dm me through Discord for a more convenient report.

I know it is a lot to ask, but could you fix the z clipping with co? I want to get this added to a server, and apparently the clipping bugs some people.

Honestly the base game steel helmet design is too boring glad i can have my funny pointed helm made out of good ol steel

💬 Kyokui, Oct 17th at 5:31 AM

Very neat mod! If you are going to add compatibility for mods like combat overhaul, or visored helmets, maybe try seeing if you could ask for permission to use CO code from the modder? Maybe you could just copy the code that CO uses for their armor, then change the texture with a new ID?

Pyro_ixen Well, I'll be honest with you, besides the fact that I still have to learn how to make my mods compatible with Combat Overhaul, even if I do manage to learn to apply it, it would be hell of difficult to make it a thing with this concept, as armor CO have several parts, with several textures and individual stats which would be quite lenghty to work with. Maybe I'll give it a shoot in the future.

💬 Pyro_ixen, Oct 16th at 11:14 PM

I'd love to add this mod, any chance this gets made compatible with Combat Overhaul?

💬 Dead_Nettle, Oct 16th at 6:29 AM

Oh my god this is SICK, THANK YOU!
