Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.21.0 and 1.21.1, potentially outdated):
CutTheHides_1.2.2.zip
1-click install
Cut pelts, raw/scraped/prepared/salted hides into small pelts/hides with any knife or shears.
Medium gives 2, large 3 and huge 5.
Also modifies the recipe for large chromium hides to use only 2 liters of solution and sturdy leather to 2 wax.
Huge is unchanged at 3/3.

Perish timers on raw and salted hides will be retained upon cutting. All recipes now shapeless. To avoid conflicts with raw hide clothes, put an item in a different slot, since those recipes are shaped.

So the bug with recipie can be this:"copyAttributesFrom": 'H', as it may crash the handbook trying to copy too many attributes.
DinoPercent Thanks. I'll see if I can reproduce it, but I might need more info from you.
It's possible something changed from RC to final, and I have been traveling and need to update my mods.
i found a bug where it crashes the game wheneveryou try and look at recipes for the small hide
I haven't been able to figure it out yet and I won't have time to work on it anymore until next month.
I will continue to work on resolving this when I get back.
I'd rather the hides stacked properly than prevent a small exploit.
I also went ahead and added the recipe to recycle the normal backpack into 4 leather.
Actually, I didn't get the timers fixed, I screwed the pooch on that one.
I've been trying to fix it all night and pretty much all day. It might require going to a code mod.
I recommend not cutting raw or salted hides until I fix it.
The other states do not have timers on them so they are completely safe.
The sturdy leather recipes are also safe.
Crowflake Thanks!
I'm glad I got the timers working, but I've been having an issue with the hides stacking that started after that change.
Hopefully I can lock that down and fix it.
Great mod! And good job on the timers, too!
1.2, this should be the last update for a while.
Perish timers on raw and salted hides will be retained upon cutting.
All recipes now shapeless.
To avoid conflicts with raw hide pants and mantle, put an item in a different slot, since those recipes are shaped.
Small update. Still looking into the perish timer.
It would be easier if I could find an actual example of it being done.
I also noticed a conflict with the rawhide pants & mantle with the large/huge hides.
I apologize for not testing better; I almost never cut large or huge hides myself.
I haven't decided how I am going to handle it.
Zetal Yes, it is unintended. Thanks for bringing it up.
I will look into this and see if I can preserve the timers.
FYI this resets the "perishable" time on hides, which is probably an unintended way to extend the shelf-life of these items.
@Tophie Glad I could help.
This was actually going to be my next mod. Thanks for saving me the trouble. lol
