Obselete as of game version 1.21. Solid iron doors are now officially a thing! 🎉

As seen in:

Summary:

Adds a new iron door which has no holes in it. Can be used to block liquids, make charcoal and also substitute regular iron doors in a cementation furnace. Along with anything else a solid wooden door can do.

Alhef

After doing some digging, I found out that the solid iron door has been added to the game officially.

This mod is now obselete. 🎉

Alhef Thanks for letting me know. I'll look into it.

Windows98 👍 Of course I forgot the most obvious way. Can you tell I haven't played VS for a year?

💬 Windows98 , Aug 22nd at 11:27 PM

Pervy_Sage I believe the best way to compare if it works or not (without mods) is to check the spoilage time of stuff in your cellar. Try with solid rock, check the spoilage time, then try with the iron door and check the spoilage time again.

💬 Pervy_Sage, Aug 22nd at 8:41 PM

Windows98 Is there a command to check cellar status like there is for rooms using the /debug rooms hi? Otherwise Idk if the Solid Iron Door is adding anything to the cellar that a normal door doesn't.

💬 Windows98 , Aug 22nd at 1:50 PM

Pervy_Sage It should insulate a cellar properly. But I'm not entirely sure. Let us know if you test it out!

💬 Pervy_Sage, Aug 21st at 11:25 PM (modified Aug 21st at 11:28 PM)

Will this work as a cellar door and count as adding one to the insulation of the cellar? (as apposed to normal doors that subtract one or however it's counted)

I don't know why, but seeing this mod on the page made me giggle uncontrollably. Epic fire + just a door = Great presentation :D
Rock on

Ah, no, there's no way to make it work with the air gap in it using only the JSON, as that is very explicitly not supposed to work in any circumstance, in the same way that you can't build with outward facing slabs for the wall of the pit.

Or like how the Kiln Door works.

Redison Thanks a lot! Shall be included in the next update!

pizza2004 Thanks for pointing that out, sort of missed that. Though using that attribute would have worked only if the door is placed flush to the firewood because of the "IsSideSolid" check.

I'm guessing there is also a way to make that work just by adding some lines in the Blocktype json but my knowledge in those is limited and it felt simpler to just extend the class and override the "GetLiquidBarrierHeightOnSide" method.

I'm open for suggestions as of how to make all the functionalities work without code.

💬 pizza2004, Apr 10th at 5:00 PM

Why is this a code mod?  I explicitly left in a line of code that makes it possible to do this with any old-style door.

💬 CKitt, Apr 10th at 1:39 PM

Such a simple, useful addition!
