Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.20.4, outdated):
clayprocessing_1_to_4_1.0.3.zip

PSA: The "outdated" tag is bs. Please test the mod before asking me to update it.
Process your least favorite mining byproducts into your favorite clay products.
Turn claystone into red clay, shale into blue clay and granite into fire clay.
Designed so that every 1 stone turns into 4 units of clay.
Or 1 to 1 if you use the "1_to_1" version.
Look in the "Files" tab and choose the version you want.
Red Clay & Blue Clay
Claystone and shale processing is simple and it only requires crushing, grinding, and mixing with water.*
*Both claystone and shale is actually just clay.
Fire Clay
Granite processing is a little more complex and it's powdered form needs to be artificially weathered through the use of an acid, in this case, sulfuric acid.*
To achieve that, we need to let our granite powder soak in an acid barrel for 12 hours. Note that the process consumes very little acid.
Since our granite is already packed with alumina and quartz, the resulting clay is fire. 🔥
*Clay is just fine rock particles which has eroded out of the rock through long term exposure to naturally occuring acidic water. I am no chemist or geologist and the realism of this mod may be questionable but i really don't give a.
Awesome Diagram!
*
Diagram is a bit obselete for version 1.0.1.
The in-game handbook will provide all the information you need to get started making clay in case my documentation sucks wich it probably does.
Translations for English, French and Spanish included.
Proudly made in 1.20.4 but might certainly work in future or past versions, who knows.
1.0.1 Changes:
-The resource multiplication occurs at the last step of the process, so to give a break to the quern.
-The last step now consumes 1 litres of water, as opposed to 0.1 and takes 8 powder, as opposed to 1 (tones down the jank).
-Forked the mod into 2, with a version that has a 1:4 yield (like before) and a version that has a 1:1 yield.
Important for server hosts:
Issues regarding server making the client download the wrong file has been resolved.
Simply use version 1.0.2 or 1.0.3 and everything should work just fine.
Sorry for any inconveniences caused as a result from using this mod.
Feel free to post any issue regarding this mod. 🤙

Just a helpful note for anyone passing through:
Yes, the mod works in 1.21.4 just fine. It's a great way to get fireclay without sacrificing your regular clay--and it just makes things way easier if you're in an area short on clay. Absolutely love this mod and recommend it 100%!

Here is the mod. Note that it isn't a patch. Just a mod that does the same thing but uses Expanded Matter. Do not use with the Original Clay Processing mod.
I'm not a modder unfortunately and I would love to use this with expanded matter. Please please please great and wonderful mod author could you post a Json patch for us! We would love you even more than we already do!
MystXeno Yes it's possible. Using json patches you could disable crushed granite added by this mod, and then replace the powdered granite recipe so it takes the other mod's crushed granite.
So been using this mod, very nice. Bit of a clashing with expanded matter with crushed granite since theres separate ones for each mod, is there a way to make them compatable with each other
Shion This mod should not affect clay generation in any ways. It only add recipes and items.
Does this mod affect natural clay generation? Can't find any...
DilanRona Thanks! You're welcome.
Great mod. Thank you.
Rekeme Thanks a lot for reporting that issue. I believe it is now fixed.
Great Mod!! wish i knew how to mod i would have made a stone anvil for advanced knapping and copper smithing. but i hit a wall during development with the dll and the way the files work. so i figure i throw the idea your way Windows98
Oh, it looks like I need to make me my grog mod now.
Hey there, the fork with both versions listed as 1.0.1 causes a download desynch with serverside mod downloads. If using the 1:4 version, the client autodownloads 1:1's zip instead. So the 1:4 zip has to be manually downloaded and added to the modsbyserver/<serverIP> directory.
wojtek16 Thanks!
I really like the idea of metal drums and such tho this should probably be a mod of it's own, and might actually become! Who knows...
The is so awesome! I feel like it is nice that there is a use for these now! One thing I would maybe recommend, it to see if this could be done in like a copper tank to give those a use or inside an iron tank (which thinking about it might be better since at high temps sulfuric acide does break down coller)... But just an idea, I would assume it would be difficult to implement, but I do appreciate the work put in to implement this, I appreciate!
Now just got to figure out a way to make gunpowder, sulfur, and saltpeter on an industrial scale lol
