I didn't really like the way the default player (seraph) faces looked, so I did some redesigns. The aim was to reduce the sort of uncanny look the vanilla faces can have, while also increasing character variety and player customization.

⭐ Mod Features

  • Reworked all 10 faces/expressions
  • Specialized details for different expressions
  • Smaller pupils (Less "bug-eyed")
  • More consistent pixel/shape size
  • Removed 'eyelids'
  • Lowered eyebrows
  • Modified eye shine per-expression

It's my first time making a mod for this game, so please let me know if there are any issues. I'd also really appreciate any thoughts and feedback on the new designs.

these are good, any chance they come to 1.21?

💬 disputedname, Sep 22nd at 5:17 PM

Is this compatible with human skin tone mods?

💬 whooom, Sep 2nd at 6:53 PM

i second the notion that i would like to see this updated

💬 IrisVonEverec, Sep 1st at 2:21 PM

It seems like 1.21 broke the mod Sukor D:

I really enjoy this mod, and I would super appreciate it if you could fix it...

💬 Skrug, Aug 28th at 2:27 AM

Would it be possible to add a red eye color?

💬 KashaDatWolf, Jul 29th at 12:13 PM

;A; Please update, it used to work with BeastOfMen and PlayerModelLib but now it doesnt and I love it so much pls come back I beg you -Sobs loudly-

💬 GodzillaFan_13, Jun 27th at 12:43 AM

it would be really nice to see this get applied to the traders too tbh

💬 Asil, May 10th at 10:05 PM

OMG! Someone fixed the eyes! Now I can really see the colors!

💬 Ikaahi, Mar 12th at 11:25 PM

Beforehand there was either the vanilla seraph faces or the completely 2d texture mod, this is a nice compromise! That being said, is it possible to tweak the neutral expression to look less angry? Maybe raise the eyebrows a wee bit

💬 Dead_Nettle, Mar 11th at 12:16 PM

I love it!!

💬 Mishkia, Mar 8th at 11:09 PM

AzuliBluespots I actually just tested this with Kobold; it works and doesn't look too bad! Clips into the snout a liittle on some faces tho.

I’m having a little trouble with the reply system on here, but thank you so much for all the kind comments!
I’m happy to hear so many people really enjoy the designs.

💬 Sukor , Mar 8th at 8:42 PM

RIVVION Thanks for the feedback! It may look that way because of how the eyes are positioned. In real life, the center area of the eye usually naturally touches the top or bottom of the eyelid depending on the expression, and this effect is exaggerated here. This is something you can see even in the vanilla faces, it's just not as emphasized. It’s pretty rare for someone to have their eyes staring directly forward without any shift up or down.

Since the faces are simplified, there’s less detail and more implied shapes, which can make the eye placement look a bit different depending on the angle. Many of the preview images are in the character creator, and that camera is also positioned slightly above, which could be adding to the perception that they’re looking up.

💬 RIVVION, Mar 8th at 6:13 PM

why are they all looking UP though?

💬 burgertanker, Mar 7th at 11:39 PM

Yoooo these look so much better than vanilla! Nice work dude

💬 Mishkia, Mar 7th at 2:47 PM

Oooh! This is neat! I love that it keeps the same aesthetic as vanilla. So much less beady-eyed. Also! Works with Expanded Skins, which some of the other face overhauls I've seen have issues with sometimes.

💬 AzuliBluespots, Mar 7th at 1:39 PM

This is really good.
Too bad I'm playing as a kobold, otherwise I'd intantly add this.

💬 acuteNewt, Mar 7th at 10:46 AM

This feels super natural with the rest of the game while being a complete improvement!

💬 blueblynd, Mar 7th at 5:27 AM

i'm just echoing the others, but i really love this; the default seraph expressions have always been kind of uncanny and dead for me, and there's only so far my brain can take the "well it's okay because we're probably clay people" thing. this is a very welcome change and i'm sure it's gonna become a staple in my modlist!

💬 Sukor , Mar 6th at 11:14 PM

Wandour Reverhaus Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

Michaloid Thank you, I really appreciate hearing that!
I put a lot of effort into emphasizing the expressions and making them all feel a bit unique, so it's great to hear it turned out well.

💬 Michaloid , Mar 6th at 12:33 PM

I have to say! I like this a lot. The expressions are more highlighted than in vanilla and in turn the faces look way better.

💬 Wandour, Mar 6th at 4:16 AM

I like this

more expressive

I never really liked how barely expressive or different each vanilla faces

💬 Ruyeex, Mar 6th at 4:06 AM

It can be uncanny but not sure how uncanny is

💬 Reverhaus, Mar 6th at 3:25 AM

This mod is amazing! :O
