A redux of the now abandoned ABCS Reborn mod by UA_Shaman. I was more preferential to the ABCS version of the mod before it was shelved to create FendragonBCS so decided to recreate it with some rebalances and enhancements.
Changes:
- No more linen bags
- Reduction of leather bags carrying capacity
- Changed upgrade recipes substantially
- Added Sturdy variants to the bags with increased capacity
- Added new Leather Pouch and Sturdy Leather Pouch crafts for the new upgrade recipes

LANTERN BAGS!
Each bag variant both standard and sturdy now have the option to attach a lantern. The new Lantern Variant bag will produce light at a level slightly less than a normal lantern due to it being slightly obscured by the bag and your own body, but think of the convience!
To create a lantern variant bag simply put your lantern (any kind), some nails and strips, and your backpack, and viola! You have a hands free Lanternized Bag!
The bags lantern will illuminate while equipped, held in your hand, or while placed on the ground just like a normal lantern.

Standard Leather
- Mini: 8
- Tall: 10
- Basic: 12
- Super: 16
- Mega: 18
- Ultra: 20
Sturdy Leather
- Mini: 10
- Tall: 12
- Basic: 14
- Super: 18
- Mega: 22
- Ultra: 26
(Bag sizing can be configured with ConfigLib)
I recommend also picking up my Tanning Redux mod as it pairs well with the amount of leatherworking for all of the bags!
Tanning Redux simply changes the volume of liquid needed per hide to make leather so you dont have to juggle the annoying leftovers

No recipe to upgrade any of the Leather Backpack with a Lantern variants into the Sturdy Leather variants?
I was looking at the recipes for lantern backpacks, and the Lanterns looked like they have broken textures in the handbook, anyone knows why?
We had an issue on our multiplayer server where the backpacks weren't showing up at all. We downgraded to v2.0 and it works perfectly fine now. So if anyone is having issues, just try this and it should appear. It works fully.
Sorry to bother but the crafting from ultra leather to ultra sturdy leather doesnt have an option for the lantern backpacks im not sure if thats on purpose?
The lantern model in the handbook recipe for any backpack with lantern seems out of texture. I'm not sure if it's missing a wildcard somewhere, but I have to say it looks kinda strange. Not sure if the recipe is working, we're missing some decent metal to stock and start making lanterns :x
MIGHT be one too many mods on my side, a handful of textures are acting weird, namely papyrus for some reason. Yet, I DO see something weird when hovering over the textureless lantern, and that is that its id ends up in a dash (-) instead of a wildcard.
BotMark at current no, as it doesn't actually take into consideration what lantern you used to create the attached bag, so there's no way to get the same one back.

You can attach the backpacks to the equus horses just fine(everything works) but no model shows up, get this warning:

Thanks. I was curious if that was a thing because of the lack of clarity in the handbook (since you can modify an item with data in a crafting table and it will technically be the same item, just with added data, so an upgraded variant would not show up if it used these methods).
CharlieSoulfire No i wanted to keep the light provided by the backpacks all the same and somewhat lower due to them being "obscured" by the body. (plus freeing up your offhand for whatever is strong enough in its own right)

IILordTempestII Yeah i mean it DOES suck when mods get abandoned, but the people who pick up the torch want to do so in a way that honors the legacy I suppose. Also I just like adding Redux to my mods (Tanning Redux being entirely my own, though probably not a unique idea)
Its sorta funny when a mod is named [oldmodname] followed by reborn or ressurected or the like, and then later on gets also abandonded. Imagine if it stacked together when people made the names like "[name]: Reborn - Rebirth - Redux" or something lol.

Razgriz Thanks! I have another update on this.. The typo is fixed, however the config does not apply ONLY for sturdy backpack variants. I just tested this and I can see the correct settings for abcsredux.yaml but in game, they are only applying to the basic backpack tiers. I checked the auto config sliders and they also match the yaml file, so the issue lies elsewhere.

Incompatible with configlib and autoconfiglib currently https://news.kalataka.ru/autoconfiglib due to a typo in the sturdy back pack naming somewhere on this mod. That mod should create a config for this one, but only the basic backpack types work because of a typo somewhere. Just thought you should know. its showing strudy, instead of sturdy. I would love to use this on my server but cant because I cannot edit the sizes.
Kadlore Correct if you have a lantern bag you can upgrade it to the next tier and it will retain the lantern. And the Lantern bags are intended to be used on 1.21
ZeizhE The ConfigLib compatibility was only made on version 2.0.2 of the mod and v1.21 of VS, it looks like youre running v1.20 of VS, and I assume v1.0.X of ABCSRedux. (you also have errors in your log regarding CombatOverhaul)

It's not possible to craft it on the stable version 1.20? Only in test version 1.21?

The only errors that I found in my logs is something with art of growing but I don't think that would be related. I had another backpack mod (Ithania backpacks) in the folder but it's disabled. I thought it could be that I changed where the datapath goes but I don't think that's it since other mods show up just fine. I'll provide the log if you want to check for yourself. I'm not exactly an expert on reading them. If you got any pointers or other troubleshooting steps for this I'd appreciate it.

ZeizhE do you have any errors or anything or potential mod conflicts? When just having configlib and ABCSRedux it seems to show up no problem for me.
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not but it doesn't seem like this mod is showing up in my ConfigLib ui at all.
Is this compatible with toolsmith? I'm finding some recipes work (the first sturdy leather backpack expansion) but others don't seem to. It's always possible I'm just Doing It Wrong (tm).
EDIT TO ADD: I was doing it wrong, it's fine! The recipe book shows both the normal and sturdy backback recipes and I was using the wrong one.
Eranderil Nope no need to use specific leather colors. Normal Leather for the Leather Bags and Sturdy leather for the Sturdy Bags! Simple and straight forward.
FatherSarge I'll look into...weird since I don't touch the basket or any base recipes last I remember.
edit: Figured it out, its the recipe for upgrading the basket thats somewhat vestigile from the old mod. I'll remove it as I don't feel it fits the mods theme.

Glaron You can try to use it in a 1.20 game version (it seems SneezingPrince managed to make it work) but functionality might not be 100% as intended. To my knowledge it wont crash or break, but it does leverage the new API changes in 1.21 to make the lights work while placed on the ground.

Is there a way to turn off the lantern on the backbag? Ingame controls say Shift+L, but nothing happens. I checked and I dont have any other mods that use Shift + L, I even rebound it and nothing happens. Im playing on 1.20.12
Edit: After some playing around, I managed to place each bag on the floor, equip one and turn off the light with the keybinding on every single one. Seems like the game doesnt like it when you have multiple bags on you when you use the keybinding to turn off the light

Are the bag sizes open to modification through config, or is it hard-locked?
FatherSarge that's a good idea, I don't see much of a reason to remove the lantern. I'll add an upgrade path for packs once they're lanternized
Adding the ability to upgrade the various backpacks with lanterns to the next size up OR downgrade the lantern backpacks to their normal varient (returning the lantern, the nails, and whatever backpack) so they can be upgraded to the next size up would be great!

Michael00181 you have nerd sniped me. I went down a very long rabbit hole to create lantern variants of every bag, the light works while held, while equipped on your back, and while placed on the ground!
It will only work on the new 1.21.0-pre.3 release and beyond, as I had to leverage the new API updates, so keep that in mind

Just add the MINER class mod and you can craft a miners helm and have a lvl 22 light source continuosly.. or add the mod that allows you to use the lantern as a headband it's only a lvl 16 light source but it's always on..
@Man I just want the ability to attach my lantern to my backpack. I'd even take a reduced capacity pack if it meant a lantern on it.

I actually built special models that have visible lanterns (they might even still be in the mod files) with the intent to have that feature added but I didn't really like the implementation, so never added it. I potentially could add them, but it'd be nerfed from the Fendragon and what ABCS Reborn became due to having an infinite light source being a bit too strong, if theres enough desire for that feature i'd be willing to look back into it.
But why lose the best feature? I genuienly saw this mod as a 100% improvement until I relaized there was no lantern function.
Michael00181 There is no lantern slot for this mod, its not a 1:1 of the old mod
did some testing in creative mode and none of the leather backpakcs seem to do have the lantern slot like the old mod
what tier of backpack do you need to have the lantern slot?
It took me a moment to parse what was being described re: hotbar scroll issues, because it never even occurred to me to try scrolling my hotbar with my inventory open. What's the use case for this? Playing with windows unlocked and moved off to the side so you can use tools in the world while keeping your inventory open, to keep an eye on what you're picking up even with a full hotbar? That could be useful, I guess.
StarHelix I'm having the same issue, anything past a 6x6 inventory size does this, and if you're at or below that amount of inventory and you use your scroll wheel while on the window it doesnt scroll the hotbar, but when you move your cursor outside the inventory it scrolls the hotbar, as it should.
and as you said, whether you hover over the inventory window or not, if you're past 6x6 inventory size (so the scroll bar appears) it locks onto that. it's a personal preference more than anything, im one out of 5 people in this server im playing on who finds it annoying as i like to use scroll through my hotbar while my inventory is open, so i just opted for having Ultra Sturdy, Glider, Backpack (brass lantern) and an empty slot for beehive stuff.

Devonushka the idea behind the recipes for the basic backpack in particular is that the cost of a Moly plate is only ~20 units of copper and ~180 units of lead. Lead is less widely used than copper, so in my opinion is less valuable. So a Moly plate is a less cost impactful choice than a Copper plate. The super not using nails and an additional leather pouch is imo once again more cost prohibitive and is to indicate that this upgrade in particular provides more of a storage upgrade than previous upgrades (previous upgrades give +2 slots but the Super gives +4)
I'm wondering if the recipes are working as intended. The basic leather backpack takes a Molybdochalkos plate, whereas the super leather backpack takes a copper plate? The metal plates and nails don't seem to match progression very well.
Has anyone else ran into the issue where your bag space gets just big enough that a scroll bar appears and you lose the ability to scroll your hotbar?
I just upgraded my 4 bags to the Tall Leather Backpacks, and now when I have my bags opens, the mouse wheel scrolls the inventory up and down instead of my active hotbar... which is really annoying (plus, the entire inventory is already visible anyway)
I couldn't find any way to disable this scroll hotkey or to resize the inventory window (scaling the GUI makes no difference)... Do others just use the numbers instead of scrolling your hotbar once your inventory reaches a certain size?

Asket Fixed, the game treats linen as a block type not item type
As of latest update Leather Pouch is not craftable. Something is broken in recipe, probably related to Linen update.
Can you revert it please? If we want to craft Sewing kits we ll just disable "Profession-unique" recipes in server config or use other mods for that.

basically the sturdy backpacks are what the old mod used to be and the updated standard leather backpacks have been reduced slightly
