V1.1.1:

The mod should more smoothly detect when you want to jump higher.

I also added ModConfig options for jumpPower, fallDamageFactor, and gravityDamageThreshold. By default the second two options don't actually do anything, you can change this if you want.

The gravityDamageThreshold allows you to set an amount of damage below which fall damage won't happen, if you go above this threshold you still take the full amount of damage you normally would.

I did some changes that should maybe theoretically stop it having server issues, but frankly I don't know why they happen in the first place so no promises.

 

Update 1.1.0: Should now do a single height boost towards the end of a jump while you're holding the jump key down.

If you hold the jump key you will jump slightly higher than simply tapping it. Just enough to reach two blocks high.

This is implemented through a code patch and I'm not sure how those get distributed between server/client, probably needs to be updated to the latest version anyway.

Going to do that while I see about updating it to properly work as a delayed jump boost instead of a continuous jump strength modifier.

Also have the same problem as Maestro

 

half the time when logging in to my server, it works correctly. we have to log out and back in when it's not working and it'll usually work.

I'm not so sure it's a mod conflict, i only had about 10 other mods running and i could replicate that.

Are there any known incompatibilities with this mod?

I'm running it on my home server, max of 3 people at a time.

About 50% of the time when we log in -- Dynamic Jump doesn't work. If we log out, it is 50/50 whether it works the next time we log in.

Anything we can do to investigate why?

I think the mod isn't currently working right now. It seems to make every type of jump press into a high jump.

No, it's all good, I understand the intention behind this mod. I just found it odd that even pressing the space bar very quickly triggered a double jump. I tried it several times. Quick press = doublejump | Very quick press = also doublejump | holding the key = double jump again.

Hence my previous comment.

I mean I'd love to have a mod which requires to hold the jump button. That would be insanely good but I understand that this might not be on you bucket list. :P

I would have to modify existing code to do that, this is just a simple patch.

I might check to see how hard that would be later.

Sounds like what they were expecting was more of a:

>Hold jump
>Character sort of crouches down to prepare for a high jump
>Releasing jump results in a high jump

The way jumping works is it adds upward force to the player, so this mod simply continues to add a little bit of force for a little bit if you're holding the jump key.

So even a few frames will make jumps a bit higher than normal.

Are you getting a full 2-block jump from a quick tap of the jump key? That might indicate something being wrong.

I love the idea but unfortunately - at least for me - it's working immediately and not while holding the jump button.
