Recommended download (for Vintage Story 1.21.0 - 1.21.5):
Shiver Tweaks v6.0.1.zip
1-click install
Ever felt that shivers didn't live up to their name? Well, now they climb on walls.
More features may be added in the future to enhance the horrible effect of gravity defying shivers. We shall see...
Current modifications:
- Shivers have the ability to climb walls (v1.0.0).
- Shiver mouths are now perpetually open (v2.0.0).
- All shivers have been given a 2x speed increase (v2.0.0).
- Increased attack cooldown to 1.25 of vanilla value. (v3.0.0)
- Removed flee AI (shivers will no longer flee when low on health). (v3.0.0)
- Slowed down death animation slightly. (v3.0.0)
- Increased "stickiness" of shivers (shivers now have an easier time of climbing walls). (v4.0.0)
- Slightly closed shiver mouths (they should now be able to open wider during attack animations). (v4.0.0)
- Bellhead shivers now summon enemies similar to the bell. (v4.0.0)
- Increased attack cooldown to 2x of vanilla value. (v5.0.0)
Configs have been added in v5.0.0! (Requires Config Lib)

Changelog: - What have I done?! | |||||||
prototype464 thanks for the clarification. It would be great if both mod pages mentioned that. As it is very likely people would have both installed.
Beedy Only the feature in one of the two mods. Would personally recommend Temporal Symphony's version.
prototype464 If I have both mods (Shiver Tweaks) & (Temporal Symphony) how do I insure bellhead compatibility? Do I leave both mods bellhead modifications enabled, or do I enable the feature in only one of the two mods?
PerkCuss
Hey! CreativeRealms let me know that issue is happening and I looked into it, it's on Temporal Symphony's end. It'll be fixed in the next patch!
Changing the speed requires changing 15 lines of code to completely different values from each other making a config for it difficult to create. However, you can go into Shiver Tweaks v6.0.1.zip\assets\shivertweaks\patches\entity\speedmodifier.json and change the values in there yourself to whatever you want. Sianks
Can we have config for Speed of shivers? I dont like the fact it's Fixed and it's either True or False, if I want to increase it by 1.5x "sorry u cant"
it would be really great feature
Bellhead Shivers currently make no noise if I have got Temporal Symphone installed, which I think may be interferring with this mod.
This brought back my fight or flight response to shivers, awesome mod!
Hitboxes were not changed and I've never tested it with Combat Overhaul but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be compatible. Sianks
Hitboxes werent changed right? Will combat overhaul still work with it?
So it is, client side too it seems a reinstall fixed it. Apologies for bugging you I'm still new to VS's back end.(Also thank you for the awesomely terrifying mod)
It appears to be a vanilla bug since it happens when the mod isn't installed. FoxLGV
I'm having a problem where the bellhead isn't doing its animation/sound, it still summons mobs but it simply stands there. It's also throwing these errors in the console, I don't know if I'm missing a file or something just failed to upload server-side. (this is specifically in multiplayer, but it was working previously in multiplayer)
31.8.2025 11:04:01 [Server Debug] shiver-bellhead attempted to play an animation code which its shape does not have: "mouth-open3"
31.8.2025 11:04:03 [Server Debug] shiver-bellhead attempted to play an animation code which its shape does not have: "mouth-attack3"
I havbe no idea. I didn't even know they clipped through walls to begin with. Vargur
This looks awesome - i was just talking earlier with someone about how shivers are by far the best/scariest design - so thanks for making them even more horrifying.
Sorry if this is too off-topic, but I just happened to have spent a lot of time today experimenting with base defense/killbox ideas - and I discovered that shivers when jammed together in a small area will very quickly start clipping into and through any walls enclosing them - I got up to 5-block thick walls before I gave up and they were still escaping. Since you've worked on them, I wonder if you have any ideas on what's causing that? I've looked through my modlist and don't really see anything that would mess with their collision so I think it's just a vanilla thing related to their roll-over animation.
Neat, man-made horrors beyond my comprehension
I just got me timbers destroyed by the Sonic the Shiverhead playing wilderness survival (150% enemy strength). Jeez this thing is nuts. I'll probably reduce it's movement speed in the config from x2 to x1.5 if possible
Edit: Ah shucks you can only toggle on and off on speed boost without changing the speed the way you want it. Would be nice if config allowed to set the specific parameters.
thank you this is HORRIFYING will be downloading immediately
Oh yeah you can do that but technically it's not without ConfigLib so that part threw me off a bit. :P DUCATISLO
wait i think i got it how to config it with notepad
Sadly I don't know how to code so I'm not able to add my own configs. DUCATISLO
can you make us be able to config this without config lib? like at least for server side ModConfig
gg
That's something I'd probably need help with since it requires new models and animations (which I do not know how to make). If someone sent me some assets then I could look into adding them in. candlegirl
I understand this request is sort of out of step with the stated intentions of your mod, but I think it'd be really nice if someone added an anti-arachnophobia mod for the Shiver, similar to what Arachnid Replacer does, that is compatible with these tweaks. We all love horror on the server, but spiders aren't "horror" for a couple of us, they're just "panic attack and throw up". I'd love to use these tweaks if anyone can come out with an accessibility mod! I'm bringing it up here because I think it might actually be a feasible addition to your list of optional changes. :)
The sound for the Bellhead shiver's alarm is bugged. The sound effect should be in Mono, not Stereo, otherwise it just plays like music, not tied to the entity's position.
Thanks, I hate this. (not really)
Oh why oh why did you give him more ideas??? Xelonie
Yes and it works great. prototype464
Is this tested for 1.20.0?
Shivers being able to crawl on walls fits so well I dunno why it is not a vanilla thing :D Nice mod!
Wonderful!, thank you so much! CreativeRealms
now the bellhead shiver needs to act like a bell, so it spawns enemies, would love that
Done. Xelonie
True. I'll add a few more features and maybe someone from the community would be kind enough to help convert this into a configurable code mod. Edit: Apparently JSON configs are possible so I'll start looking into that now. Cuddly_Khan
The problem with opening up the file to modify/disable stuff is that those changes don't work if you want to make then on a server.
Thats a whole lot of nope for me!
This is 10 times scarier than any Bell spawned in a small room you just fell into from at least 15 blocks up and you also don't have any dirt.
you are a monster!!! lol
Actual config files require coding knowledge (that I sadly do not posess) but you can always open up the files and mess around with stuff to modify/disable specific features. Inflectus
Are these changes configurable? I love the idea of everything here except the increased movement speed. Would be nice if that was a true/false adjustment or a configurable value.
now the bellhead shiver needs to act like a bell, so it spawns enemies, would love that
I should be able to do that... Xelonie
Love it, i always like adding more difficulty to the game
now the bellhead shiver needs to act like a bell, so it spawns enemies, would love that
Thanks, I hate it! 😅
I have a small tweak to make in order to get them to stick onto walls better but once that is done I'll try to upload a video. (edit video is uploaded) Lodey
Open the mod and navigate to assets\shivertweaks\patches then delete the entire shapes folder. Doing so will revert the models back to vanilla. I might make their mouths slightly less open so that it is visible but it also opens wider when they attack but we'll have to see. Snazzy_J_Wyrm
Any chance you could get rid of the change that makes their mouths constantly open? I find it far creepier when they open them as they go in for an attack.
Who hurt you.
I'd love to see a video of how they look climbing on walls.
Nobody asked for them but I made some more... changes.
Really, you had to?
Now just imagine that they're like cockroaches.. and can fly at seemingly random times..
To be honest, first time I saw them me and my friend called it spider,
To our surprise spider couldn't climb, to their surprise I will add this mod and not mention it :)
