This is an attempt at rebalancing and diversifying the rust creature drops. It's supposed to make fighting the rust creatures more rewarding and therefore fun. The rewards are more generous than vanilla.
This mod has been created by someone who has spent most of their time playing the game with rust creatures disabled and is also largely untested in survival, so balancing is very much in the question.
Rusty gear, temporal gear and jonas part drops are being kept in line with vanilla values, except for stilt, deepsplit and bellhead shivers.
Just like in vanilla, rusty gear drop rate is subject to trait multipliers.

Love the mod, it makes fighting enemies feel a little less frustrating. Any chance you could make the drops configurable in a file without having to repackage everything? I'm getting so much linen thread that I don't even need a flax farm to get a windmill up in the first year, and that feels a bit too good.

For further balance feedback, mainly as far as surface enemies since early game is where balance matters most:

  • Flax fibers being the same for all tiers makes them too common in early game. Base game is static 20/40/60/80/100/200. I'd probably double it and then do +- half that value again, so 40+-20, 80+-40, 120+-60, etc. Worst case you get the base game drop rate. On average you get double. Best case you get triple.
  • Fat is too common. You only need it for crocks and windmills in terms of balance. When I think "rust creatures" I think rot, not edible fat. I suggest reducing fat for "more corrupt" Drifter tiers, so it's something like 25% surface, 10% deep, 0% for others.
  • More rot. Add 100% for surface drifters and bowtorn, 200% for surface shivers.

IMO: More rot, less flax, less fat.

Volatile100 Sianks Updated. Bowtorns now drop 1-7 Bone arrows alongside having a chance to drop Iron arrowheads.
Only tested on 1.21 but it should work on 1.21.1 as well.

Mod works fine in 1.21, but I would like the addition/change to be made, for the bowtorns to no longer drop arrowheads, in exchange for its vanilla bone arrows.

This rebalance is so good! For the first time in forever I found myself excited for the first temporal storm of the world just so I could loot. Makes hunting drifters fun without feeling to over powered.

Great mod, new version borked it due to path diffrences or something? Seems to be Lore now instead of land, just guessing outta my ass here.

 

Edit: Changing all the land to lore filepath fixed it. Works good as new.

Played through a temporal storm and a couple of high rift activity nights with it, and I think I like it. The loot is noticeably better but doesn't feel insane. Fat is a useful but not OP addition to the surface rotbeats, though I'll be sure to use it to grease my power train and not with my food 😃. I agree with halving the drop rate from the previous release, though. 

There are a lot of mods messing with drifter drops, but this one is closest to what I was looking for. Thanks.

Didn't have time to test the first version much. I forgot just how many drifters the game can spawn. If it's still too abundant, I'll nerf it further.

Was trying out the mod, and I think there can be some adjustments to the rewards, since it is nice to get lots of fat, but the problem is, it makes getting fat trivial, so I would lessen the amount and no guarrentees, since at the moment, the loot is too good, also would still be good if the Drifter and Shiver can still drop flax fibers like in vanilla. That is my thoughts for this mod, otherwise, it is a decent attempt at some rebalancing, at the moment, it makes it too easy.

i still dont get why enemies drop barely to nothing. thanks!. rust creatures to be worth even engaging should have a drop. even more the mere looting them is tedious
