Raw Sticks - Solve your stick problems
Raw Sticks lets you craft raw sticks by using a knife and and axe on a log, simulating chopping the log and then carving it into usable sticks.
Alternatively you can craft them using firewood and a knife (if you already chopped the log) - both recipes should be balanced correctly.
As the log you chop is fresh the sticks are still raw and require drying before they are usable. After the sticks dry out for a while you can use them as any other stick.
This mod solves stick gathering being cumbersome without directly giving it an OP crafting recipe. I believe it stays close to vanilla in that you have to "earn" your sticks by waiting for them to dry.
The sticks can be stacked and will still dry while stacked, or in your inventory, similar to bowstaves. They will not dry inside containers.
Since the raw sticks are still fresh they will also not burn as well as normal sticks.

If you'd like the raw sticks in ground piles to dry faster, consider getting this mod.

KingFables it'll work just fine
Hey, I was wondering would adding this to an existing save be okay? Or would it result in some strange errors?
Firewood should be dried too ngl
JackRob Thank you for spotting this, you're right! I'll add a link to that mod here.
osayra Purely for ballancing. Chopping a log with an axe produces 4 firewood. Since a raw stick is log + axe + knife it makes sense to also allow the product of log + axe to also be used with a knife to make the raw stick.
How come the firewood recipe makes a raw stick that needs to be dried ? I feel like a dry stick would make more sense for firewood
Your mod also gave me an idea to change firewood into raw firewood that has to dry before it can be used efficiently. Would make the game a more challenging but in a good way. (having to plan ahead)

Sticks on the ground will actually take 4 times longer using the "Dry" mechanic than intended unless you install this mod that fixes that: Dryable Ground Storage
I ran into the same thing with my Dryable Firewood mod. Alternatively, especially for Nexrem, one could change the mechanic to "Cure" instead which doesn't have this quirk if one doesn't want the dependancy.
Edit: Though the mod is marked for 1.20, I just tested it and it still works.
CoachingNeeded I added your idea. You can now craft raw sticks from firewood too.
Ahh so maybe I don't understand the drying mecanic. Thanks I'll place a couple of fires around it and see what happens.
CoachingNeeded If anything affects bowstave drying speeds it will also affect the sticks since they share the same logic. The piles do dry out eventually, so it does work as intended.
Nice would be awesome addition, question does anything affect the dry rate? Because I had it on the floor for 5 days and still not dry.
Avg 56 in Json so I thought should be around about 56 hours of dry time or am I looking at that wrong?
CoachingNeeded, yes that's easily doable, I'm just concerned about stack sizes and all. Don't want to accidentally make a duper. Looking at it 1 log gives 4 firewood so a 1:1 firewood to stick ratio works well. I'm not sure if anything uses firewood and a knife as a recipe to avoid conflicts. I'll check
Love it! Can you also make it so that you can do that too firewood? So firewood + knife = raw stick?
Seems like a logical step big > smaller > smallest
Good lil mod and installed it instantly.
nice!
