Latest release (for Vintage Story 1.20.11 - 1.20.12, outdated):
nooffhandautopickup_1.0.2.zip
1-click install
Are items being automatically picked up to your offhand slot making you burn more calories or messing with your two-handed weapon stance? Now, you can forget about that issue!
With this mod items will never be automatically picked up to your offhand slot.
You can still equip items to your offhand slot by transfering them with drag and drop from your other slots, backpack, container etc.
This works with both base game and modded items. I did not test all the mods, so if you encounter any issues, please let me know!
FAQ
Q: Does this mod prevent you from equipping items to the offhand slot?
A: No, it only prevents them from being automatically transfered into your offhand slot, you can still equip them by drag and drop.

Would it be possible to add a configuration file where one can choose for each "offhand-able" item individually whether it will automatically be off-handed on pickup or not (with the default still being "no" for all of them)?
I'd love to be able to "whitelist" a small handful of items, mostly light sources, but keep everything else disabled (especially those god damn seeds and temporal gears).
EDIT: Seeds off-hand pickup got fixed in vanilla!

Sorry, but I'm unable to reproduce the error. Could you please provide more details about when the error occurs?

Thanks for letting me know, please download new version 1.0.2, it should now block transfering items via shift click into offhand slot.
Shift clicking temporal gears from creature harvest transfers to offhand still
Thank you for the great mod!
ooh this'll be handy, thank you
Thanks for the mod!
And just to comment on what was said earlier, finding "free pictures" on Google doesn't mean they're free to use. That can be even more of a copyright violation than AI's roundabout way currently is. Do what you feel is right or actually find out the license on images you plan to use, don't take copyright advice from random people on the internet.

Thanks!! I l'm loving both your mods too! Hope you keep it up!! ^^
SaltyWater Thanks, I'll try to get used to it 😅 I love your mods btw!

Welcome to the community. Nice mod! You get used with people talking about your ai covers instead of giving feedback for your mod. It happens a lot.
Mackeroni You're not ripping anything from google if you're using free pics. Same logic if it's a screenshot from the game itself or your own work. Whether it's a small mod or a big company's ads campaign doesn't change the fact that you're stealing from others for your own benefits and/or supporting a system that steals from others. It's just a cover to you because you don't realise yet that the end game is to snuff out anyone creative out there. The people owning AI system are planing to appropriate everything in the gaming world, in art, etc: your small mods and Vintage Story will all be owned and operated under the licence purchased by one of these corporations at some point, effectively diverting it from what made it so exceptionnal.
Akkuku AI steals data from someone's else work to feed itself in order to provide you with a result. The end game of coporations owning the AI systems is to kill the competition and buy/take over everything that can be creative to turn into souless cashmachines. I.E: Spotify rn. Please don't use AI for anything, especially in creative/independant spaces if you care about the quality of the creation you enjoy here.
Great mod, real lifesaver for any combat overhaul enjoyer.
Mackeroni I've added 1.0.1 version which should be client-side only. However, since I don't have a multiplayer server, I can't test it properly. Please let me know if you encounter any issues.
At a certain point, is there that big of a difference between ripping random art off of Google to use, versus the AI ripping random art off of Google to use? It's just for a small Vintage Story mod.
Anyway, this isn't a clientside mod, right? It requires both the server and the client? Is it possible to make it a client only mod?
Cowent1n What is the issue with AI generated image for a mod cover?
A good cover makes the mod more approachable by conveying its purpose and making it more visible and memorable.
I really like and appreciate self-made covers made by artists, they add authenticity to the mod. However, creating such cover requires skills and time. I don't currently have the time to create covers, and I'm not a very good artist. I'm a much better programmer. Honestly though, I'm not a great programmer either. I create mods to change the parts of the game that I wish were different.
Using AI to generate the cover allows me to create nearly exactly what I want in a fraction of the time, allowing me to just play the game or do other things.
Regarding your alternatives, using a free picture or taking a screenshot wouldn't convey my intended message.
Is my approach an insult to artists who make the covers themselves? If that is the case, I will take down the covers.
Please don't use AI covers for your mods. It really isn't hard to find free pics online (meaning licence wise for the smart ahh playing on words) or even your own screenshots to depict the same thing.
