Changelog- Initial Release. For .NET Framework 4.6.1 editions of the game. | |||||||
Can this be added to the middle of a save on a server?
is it possible to make lightning storms be frequent and violent? (i am talking like biblacal leaves of lightning) or is that going to much into the games "one big mess" of a weather system?
ZimaLato, I wish! That's the dream, right? Get rid of the rain entirely. Unfortunately not. I may be forced to look into it one day, but not yet. I know that the whole weather system in the game is one big mess. It's not something I want to jump into now. In the mean time, you can get rid of the rain cosmetically by installing my mod, Accessibility Tweaks. I wrote it to help in the same way that Optifine helps with the rain in Minecraft. In the game, it's still raining, but you can turn off the epilepsy inducing rain drops, lightning, and white-noise.
Is it possible to change rain frequency in given area?
I will look into it more though, and see what is possible.
What you can do though, is treat Spring as Summer, and then you'll get a three season year, so winter will feel shorter overall. Especially if you change the minimum temperature in Summer, and Autumn, so that the snow doesn't stick around.
Seasons in the game are strange. They don't really have any purpose. The game year is calculated by a whole load of variables. Hours per day, days per month. Then a year is calculated by the sum of all of that. A month is 1/12th of the total, and a "Season" is 1/4 of the total. And the seasons start in Winter, not in Spring. So Jan, Feb, Mar is Winter. Apr, May, Jun is Spring. Jul, Aug, Sep is Summer. Oct, Nov, Dec is Autumn. So New Years Eve in this game is in Autumn, not in Winter. Ideally, winter should shart in November, and last through to the end of Jan. That's more realistic.
In the game, a "YearRel" counter ticks up based on how much time has passed since the last time it reset (New Year).
So, while it is possible to mess around with all that stuff, it doesn't really help much. It's not like the game has seasonal settings, it just has a bell curve. The seasons are just there to show something on the screen to make it look more real. But the game doesn't care about seasons. It's only used by shaders to change the colour of the trees; the music to play atmospheric music; and grasshoppers, to see if they should make noise or not. That's it.
I'm curious, Apache...
I still kind of want Winter, so could this mod make Winter be shorter and then Spring/Summer/Fall be longer? Like, make Winter last 2 or 3 weeks and then take the rest of the time that *would have been* Winter and add it to the other seasons? Basically, remapping the seasons on the calendar, I guess?
Jay is certainly going to love this one.
Yes it can. You can treat every season as if it were Winter, and limit the maximum temperature the world can reach.
Can this be used in reverse, to ensure a permament winter? That would be awesome
command is /nwn not /nevewinter
just an fyi for anyone on 1.20.11
Guedez, I don't think anything like that has been tested yet. The things I could imagine going wrong would be the growing seasons. Berries, crops, bees, maybe even trees. I would like to hear about any experiments undertaken though. I'm happy to dive into this more, when 1.21 comes out.
Apache It's not something I need immediately, player on my server suggested it as an idea to make winters go by faster and I thought I'd send the idea your way!
Rythillian, I've added it to the backlog. Is this something you'd want soon, or would it be ok to leave until the game updates to 1.21?
Any chance we could get a setting to set a start and end date for changing "PassTimeWhenEmpty". Would be handy for example if I wanted a server to set PassTimeWhenEmpty to true after Nov 5th ingame and then set it to false on May 1st ingame. That way winter's on my server will continue to pass by without players (the time when it's played the least).
How stable this is?
I've been thinking of doing something silly as letting the game run normally until the first winter, then lock it into winter forever
Anything weird will happen due to that?
Any chance control over rainfall could be implimented in some way?
DejFidOFF, I genuinely don't know the answers to any of those questions, I'm afraid. I did make sure that plants and crops would still grow with the options turned on here, but I haven't done any extensive testing on the mod. But now, looking at the game code, I think I can do a better job of controlling the temperature. I'll bring something out for this soon.
Apache
hello o/ Just trying this mod to my server and have few questions.
Why my bode temperature declaining when it´ s 9°C ?
I set up low to the -5. Will it affect growing trees / plants / crowps?
What´s the tempeerature where trees are growing?
Thank you
MadreCherry, Unfortunately, the calendar system in this game is very strange. There's not much scope for customisation. I've done what I can here, but there's not much more that can happen, without an almost total re-write of the calendar system, and everything that ties into it.
I wish this included to be able to make spring x long and summer v long and fall b long and winter c long.
Rythillian I couldn't agree with you more than I do! Apache's work is always top notch!
Thanks again for this! Fantastic work, highly reccomend Apache as a modder!
