"But Moby, why would anyone want to use this mod?" I agree. No one should play with that and the entire premise of this mod is kinda stupid.
However, it can be nice for roleplay or if someone wants an extra challenge.
Makes it so the world is super blurry except up close. It's really configurable (per player, not using a global config) so you could just make it slightly blurry when it's far away, or make it super blurry right up your nose.
Adds three new glasses because I don't like the look of the default ones.
If you equip glasses, the blur goes away.
Also you can craft them if you have ChemistryLib.
To enable or disable the blur, use:
/nearsighted set <min distance between 0 and 1, 0.95 and above recommanded> <blur strength, 20 works pretty well>
(use this command to change your settings as well)
/nearsighted clear

Seconding SkyTheSkunny, that sounds like an awesome idea!
A suggestion:
Welding mask/eclipse glasses: if you don't use them in... guess which scenarios, you get a flashbang-like overlay effect that lasts from minutes to hours. Made from black lenses made by grinding black glass slabs.
I'm still super looking forward to this mod being added.
I'd definitely love some form of snow-blindness that would give snow goggles an actual functional purpose.
Fishelmaooo Coda_Vanistok yeah i'll update the mod in the relatively near future I think
I was operating under the assumption that basically no one was using it lol
I'll probably also add farsightedness, and that one sight issue where it blurs laterally or something, forgot the name of it
Also blindness (at least make everything after a certain radius pitch black like Minecraft, if I'm really determined have a touch-and-sound-based location thing), and blindfolds
Great mod, Please make it so you can wear the glasses in the mask slot too, I'd like to wear hats and glasses at the same time
Oh this is cool
I very much want to see this mod make a comeback!
Dagurmawth yeah that changed recently (1.19 iirc?) but I haven't updated the mod yet
The glasses equip to the wrong slot. Glasses are a mask item not a hat.
This might sound obvious, but I'll say that I wouldn't recommend actually using the blur on low-end machines - I was single-framing it until I could clear it. However, I really like the models you did for the round glasses, they're really lovely. If you ever had the time, I would love to see maybe some colored/dyed lenses or sunglasses, unless anyone knows a mod that already does that?
My singular "gripe", if it could even be called that, is that there are no example images here of what the glasses models look like. It wasn't too much effort to just download the mod and see for myself, but for there being like 3 added glasses and all of them being very similar to the default model, I don't think there's any harm in adding them just so people can see if they really want it. Still, lovely mod for rp purposes - I feel more like myself with my cokebottle lenses on my little dude's face. 😊
Pretty great RP option for Blackguards. Could you make a Farsighted version for Hunters?
Nateboy Done!
Miloski Craluminium was requesting that I make a mod to overhaul the sound system, it has nothing to do with this mod
I was interested in trying this, as I am nearsighted. Since it requires ChemistryLib it ends up adding much more content than just nearsightedness to the game. Do you think perhaps you could decouple the two? A version with just the command? I would appreciate it
now how are the sounds of the game changed by a mod that only affects how the player sees @Craluminum
This means a lot more than you think, having myopia! Thanks a bundle for the mod, gonna try this out in a new world.
Mandatory for blind people, now fix sounds
