There are four types of quartz crystals that have a chance to form in the game: Milky quartz, Smoky quartz, Rose quartz, and Amethyst.
These form in relatively rare structures called "vugs" within quartz veins.
This mod increases the chances for these crystal vugs to form within quartz veins.
- Chance settings for Milky Quartz Vugs was increased from 120 to 150.
- The other crystal vugs (which were all rarer) were increased to have the same chance of forming as Milky Quartz.
This mod also changes the vug formations so that the different types of quartz are now associated with specific rock types.
- Rose and Smoky quartz will form in quartz veins within igneous rocks (andesite, granite, and peridotite).
- Amethyst vugs form in quartz veins within basalt.
- Milky quartz forms in quartz veins within sedimentary and metamorphic rocks (basically everything else).
In addition, there is now a small chance for smoky quartz, rose quartz, and amethyst chunks to drop when mining quartz blocks in their respective stone types. This provides a means to acquire these items for making colored glass without having to find and destroy the larger vug crystals.

Works on 1.21.5 when creating a new world. I'm STEP testing worldgen mods for an upcoming playthrough and there were noticeably more crystal vugs underground once adding this.
Will you be updating to the new version of the game?
Cattsy Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, I haven't had much freetime this spring, but I will take a look at this when I get the chance and update the mod accordingly.
Unfortunately when creating the world in 1.19. with this mod on, I get more hidden treasure (and I mean TONS of them) instead of more crystal vugs. Possibly because of the ruin rework and changes in the structure sequence/order?
Sorry for taking so long to get back, but I just got busy and couldn't find the time to do any more modding for awhile. However, what I've learned is that the changes to the quartz pieces dropping from mined quartz blocks should work fine in existing worlds. The changes to the vug generation will work, but only in world chunks that haven't yet been generated at the time the mod is installed. So if you've explored a large area within your existing world, then you'll need to find new areas in order for the changes to take affect. Hope that helps.
Probably not since it affects world gen, but I'm not entirely certain. I've really only tested it on new worlds, which I realize is probably an oversight. I'll do some testing on existing worlds and see what happens.
I'm guessing this isn't safe to add in mid-save, is it?
