This is a first draft version of this mod, it has minimal polish.
This project is something thrown together to expand on the idea of the engine restoration in another of my mods "Specific Clutter", except this time the goal is to make the engine playable instead of just a prop. However this mod is a very rough survival prototype more so recycling code from my Rickety Translocation mod.
To bring the engine online you require a linked active heat source, and 2 points of strength capacity from concentric amplifier blocks, alongside a fuelled prima material tank.
Boilers provide heat, either with coal from an active boiler, or passively if placed in boiling water with a passive boiler
Prima tanks must be refilled with temporal gears.
To link things use the engine tools and shift right click the core and then the linkable object. You can also link rotors to Rotor Levers via starting at a Rotor.
Note that for multi block pieces you need to shift click on one specific block out of the whole structure, this can be fiddly.

Oh damn... Sorry for the spoiler D:
Yeah, i understand not wanting to have duplicated items that renders the vanilla one usless... It's the reason i'm still not sure about electrical mods and vintage engineering... They renders most vanilla items usless
But maybe you can add it temporarely and then rework it into a new purpose or keep it as an upgrade if someone like the aestethic of it
About the linking system i don't know, i would say that it looks fine in my opinion (i havn't reached the point to actually use it but for what i understand it's wirelessly linked to the generator )... Maybe you could repurpose the various pipes to link the energy transmission between core blocks and then cables that attatch to walls to link it to the various functional blocks, but i think some blocks can have some wirless connection but limited in distance
Caelthran I haven't actually seen that elevator for myself yet lol. However seeing as the developers mentioned elevators as something that may be added as apart of the mechanical power updates potentially for 1.22 in the initial post for it I wont be experimenting as it could become obsolete pretty fast. In general if I am to do more with tuning up the story content into player accesible stuff I'd probably want to rework this mod as its current method of connecting pieces I find disappointing.
This mod looks really good, it's great to give a proper function to those blocks!
Do you plan on adding more functional blocks from the story content? For example... The elevator in the devastation?
sounds neat so far.any chance to get images to kinda show what you got so far?
