Ever wish you could construct a firepit with more than just firewood (or bamboo)? Now you can!... sort of. Placing a piece of dry grass on the ground now instantly creates a constructed firepit, no need to load up 4 logs.
The firepit will keep its old behavior when placing it on top of firewood piles. You will still need 4 firewood (or bamboo) to create a charcoal pit.

Thank you for the report. I have a new version ready to go that fixes the issue, I'm just hesitant to do releases while still in the prerelease/unstable cycle as I've been burned by that before. I'm on the fence about whether to break my rule for this one due to the nature of the bug.
Doesn't seem to allow the creation of charcoal pits in 1.18.rc.pre3.
Removing the mod allowed the creation of the charcoal pit just fine.
Pamela I'm sorry we weren't able to figure out the issue. Hopefully it will sort itself with the v1.18 update.
Did you make any changes to firewood?? Ever since I started using this mod, stacked logs are question mark blocks.
Just reloaded with V4.0.0 and still not working, anything that might be preventing it? Or any incompatabilities that you know of? Could just me be though lol
Nevermind, I guess I just needed to close out and reload! Works perfectly once again!!

Sorry about that. I missed some changes I was supposed to make due to API updates late in the prerelease cycle. A new version is available that should work for any version of 1.17 (tested in 1.17.9 specifically).
can't seem to get it to work on v1.17.9

This is great, thank you! I have been frustrated before because I've had grass and peat on me and haven't been able to start a fire! I've also done silly things, like carrying around 4 firewood with me, using it to place a firepit, removing the firewood and reusing it to make a second firepit, etc.
