If you're like us, you've been playing Vintage Story for a while and have probably had the thought of "why are there these two really fancy versions of the steel falx, yet there's nothing else like these in the game?"
Gilded Steel aims to expand upon the idea presented above by adding new silver and gold detailed steel tools! Currently the mod adds a silver and gold gilded versions of the steel pickaxe and axe, as well as adding a new longsword with steel and gilded variants! In addition this mod adds new models for the steel pickaxe and axe to make them have the flair they should as the highest tier of tool in the game. No longer will you be attaching a pickaxe head with string in the steel age!
Crafting the gilded versions of the axe and pickaxe work exactly like their falx counterparts. Simply craft a tool head, plate of gold or silver, and a stick together.
The longsword blade can be crafted with steel at the forge and used either with just a handle, or with the addition of a plate to gild it, just like the other tools.

Hey, I was wondering. Is this compatible with Combat overhauled? just wondering
lovely mod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, was wondering if compatitbility with Purposeful Storage is something that could be done in the future? love this mod, we have been using it on our server for awhile and the Purposeful Storage mod provides some awesome ways these swords could be displayed.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, there was an issue with a version of the game in which it doesn't call on the vanilla game sound .ogg file. As of currently, the workaround is to import the strike.ogg file into the mod.
As of the attack tiers, we have this updated as well. Should there be any additional bugs, please let me know!
Hello I love your mods! Aside from the Gilded longswords having their attack tiers set to 0, they also don't play the stabbing sound effects, unlike their counterpart in the Blackguard Additions, which does play them :(
Ahh, I think we might! That could explain it. I'm not the server host so I don't manage the actual modlist, but I'll look into it when I can.

Thank you for reporting the Attack Tier for the gilded gold and silver steel longswords, a fix is in the works.
Regarding the attack speed, we aren't able to replicate this. Are you using the latest release of Gilded Steel ? Do you have other mods that impact combat installed ?
Gilded (whether gold or silver) Steel Longswords appear to have Attack Tier 0. The regular Steel seems to be the correct Tier 5?
Another thing I've noticed is that my silvered steel longsword seems to have an extremely fast attack speed, even faster than the animation, allowing me to land multiple hits in the space of one actual "visual" attack. This allows me to, for lack of a better word, "blenderize" low-tier mobs through the rapid attacks.
Haven't tested too thoroughly though.

Thank you for the updated translation!

Hi, I've updated the translation of your mod
Irakonul Huh, that's very interesting. Despite the fact that they're all using spearhit, the estoc and shortsword have a more fluid attack combo instead of just the single hit spam. I wonder why that is? Maybe its a combat overhaul thing.
A_Whisper interstingly enough, we are using the animation "spearhit" for the longswords because the vanilla Forlorn estoc, Blackguard shortsword, and ruined gladius actually use the very same animation, "spearhit". This can be found in the blade JSON
Would it be possible to switch the longswords to use the shortsword or the estoc animations instead? Its almost identical to the spear animation, but its a bit more intricate to reflect the fact that its a sword. Love the rest of the mod, this is just my one little gripe.
Partexedd thank you for reporting this. We're looking into the problem, yet everything we've tried so far seems ineffective; we've added this to the issue tracker, and will continue to look for a fix.
Edit: literally moments after providing this response, I managed to find a fix. Turns out "AnimationAuthoritative" was needed in the longsword JSON.
Longswords can break blocks, could you restrict them from doing so like falx blades?
Irakonul really hope this and the blackguard additions mod get patches made, as I'd really love to add these to my server
What a cool mod!
Syndrick I'm unsure. Neither of us (Lysgonul and myself) use combat overhaul, so we don't know what changes it makes. The longswords adopt the spear animations and everything else uses the animations of their vanilla counterparts, if that helps at all. If CO requires weapon-specific code/settings to be added to the individual items, then this likely lacks compatability.
is this combatible with combat overhaul?
Hi! Great mod! Can you add compatiability with Ancient Armory?
At least for weapons avaliable for iron tier like claymore
lysgonul Hi, sorry to bother you, but I've updated the translation to be more relevant to the game. i'd be grateful if you could add it
I appreciate your quick turn around. Thank you.
I'll let you know if I come across more issues.
SpacemanSpliff bugs have been squashed, thank you for the report!
SpacemanSpliff thank you for letting us know! We'll work on getting a patch ready to squash the bugs.
Another bug, Gilded axes arent converting logs to fire wood. Also noticing that gilded axes arent playing an animation when switching to them where the character holds the axe up. Attached are images to show.

@DeanBro Cool, I requested access so I can take a look.
lysgonul Hi! I made a translation for your mod
nice
SpacemanSpliff turns out there was a slip up when I was setting up the axes, and they actually had the pickax values applied to them; we should have a fix push some time today! Thank you for letting us know!
Come across an unfortunate glitch. Steel gilded axes do not chop down trees. Normal steel axes have an 11x wood cutting multiplier, the gilded axe has nothing.
This mod rules, I've been looking for something to work towards in the late game, gilding my tools
What a cool idea. The models are simple, but elegant which is really nice.
Wow these look really good!
