This is a fork of the "Craftable Cartography" mod by ProfCupcake, including elements from kastrom3's fork as well.
This mod contains only the "realistic" tools (compass, sextant, map), as well as the sextant and other mechanics from the fork.
If you like the idea of the craftable cartography tools in the game, but want to do away with the jonas magitech tools and preserve realism, this is the mod for you.
Please refer to the original mod page or the fork page for additional information about the contents of the mod.

I noticed this has fallen behind the main mod a bit, and in response to a server starting up soon with Craftable Cartography included, I made a simple patch to remove the temporal tools: https://news.kalataka.ru/show/mod/27126
CPY A_Whisper So, I was also having this issue, and while I was able to fix the map, I was unable to fix the compass. When I created my world, I created a homospaian world, which configures everything to do with the map off. By changing the map to allow, through consol commands, I was able to use the map [/worldconfig allowMap true], it seems that setting the map to off on world config, overwrites the mod itself and not allow it towork. But the compass needle doesn't spin, it simply remains stationairy. When I right click, it doesnt move, no matter how long I hold it for. I hope this was a little bit helpful, though I do understand you're busy right now, just wanted to add this as a bit of a more expliantion, and also help CPY, even if just with the map!
Update, I got the compass to work! /worldconfig allowCoordinateHud true worked to fix it!
Nephelangelo Hey Neph, long time no see. To be honest I've been having my hands full a lot recently, and with the new update on the horizon I probably plan on just waiting until that drops before fixing anything.
Egil_Raud My modding experience is limited, and I'm currently writing a thesis for my graduate studies, so I don't have time to learn, sorry. Maybe one day in the future.
CPY I can't replicate any of these issues. I think this is a mod compatibility issue with one of your other mods.
Game crashes if you hit M without a map in your hand. Apparently happening to the other versions as well.
Do you have the option to prohibit putting labels on the map without pen and ink?
A_Whisper yes I did even try to do a voodoo on it and it still does not work. Right clicking does nothing, map does not work. Have you even tested this mod? The only thing that works in this mod is sextant.
CPY I'm not going to be able to come up with any kind of fix if you just state the problem with no context.
Have you tried holding right click? All tools in this mod require you to actively "use" them via right click.
Compass does not work.
Some players and I on the Vintage Story Discord have been talking fairly in depth about how a "Crude Map for early game, where players can draw on it themselves." would work, and I wanted to share the ideas here for any modders who would be interested, because I think this could be the basis for a far more interesting and creative mapmaking system. The idea is basically about an early game map, which is drawn 100% by the player themselves. Used in tandem with a Sextant, these player illustrated maps would accumulate detail over time, players would be creating their own Lord Of The Rings style map illustrations, with unique artistic embelishments and distortions that you'd see in old historical maps. We're picturing the functionality like this:

AM EXCITE. :D
Nephelangelo I won't promise anything, but on the wilderlands community discord server we've got a bunch of modders with a plan in the future to make a mapping mod something like that. Again, no promises though. I'll let you know if it ever comes to pass.
Sweet. Now I just need the ability to draw on the map instead of using waypoints and I'm golden.
As a reminder, I claim no ownership of this mod or its contents. They belong to their creator. This is is just a temporary fork until an official one can come out.
