I growled through my bared teeth when I discovered that bear armor could not be repaired. Well, I was not hibernating on that one! It is now pawsible to claw back the durability on your hard earned fuzzy armor!
Repair ingredient recipe follows the vanilla convention of being the same for all body parts: 1 bone, 1 rope, 1 medium pelt.
This does also work for all bear variants.
If there is any request for a more resource intensive recipe set, I can release that to future versions. Perhaps customize the size of pelt and quantity depending on the body part. Leave your feedback below!
Disclaimer: I have NOT tested this with Combat Overhaul. My testing only involves the vanilla 200 hitpoints on the armor. I am aware that CO inflates the HP numbers to even the thousands sometimes.
There are two versions I am currently maintaining (for now): Even versions will require more resources to keep your armor repaired by nature of how much it repairs versus odd versions will repair more durability per craft. Pick your poison!
You may ask, why does the helmet repair with the head not also have rope? Well, I thought it didn't make sense to have that one match the other recipes because at that point you may as well make a new helmet, so that one has reduced need.
This table showcases the repair amount if you were to repair the armor from 0/200. Please note, you can still repair any of them to full durability; you many just need to do the repair recipe twice (always for the body, for the legs only even versions).

Came for the bear minimum of repairing my armour, but stayed for the humour. Excellent work on both!
I couldn't believe it either when there wasn't a repair in the base game (prior to story missions).

I'm going to assume you are using an Odd Mod Version that has the relaxed repair values. Try switching to an Even Mod Version which averages durabilities instead; hopefully that solves your issue. Otherwise, I would say any mod that does DurabilityMultipliers like Combat Overhaul or Item Rarity may simply be a mod incompatibility to this one.
This doesn't seem to play well with Item Rarity which increases item durability based on rarity, it only repairs to the vanilla durability.
And multiple repairs appear to also double the max durability each time lol
thanks so much for the answer regarding repairs, was just curious! have owned the game a long time, but finally started playing in 1.20, not long before release of 1.21- still learning tons!

Heard on that. Good thought on the helmet! I will add your request as an additional recipe so that y'all can do either the pelt or the bear head.
I'd say don't worry about the combat overhaul people, there's a version of this specific to combat overhall that has bear arms and other trophy pieces for each body parts, adding up to a combined suit in that style.
I too growled at the lack of repair.
May I request that the HEAD of bear might be able to be used to repair the helmet, instead of the hide? They don't really have any other use?

That is a function of vanilla Vintage Story armor repair systems. The larger the armor piece, the less effective the repair per craft is.
I have released a relaxed version if you feel that aligns with your playstyle better. Thank you for your comment!
For anyone playing with Combat Overhaul, please let me know how the scaling of this repair is (for either version). 👍
hey, curious why the recipe repairs so much less on the chest, compared to the head?
thanks for this ability!

Nice, those are good ones! Hahaha
Thanks for making the armor rebearable. I'm glad to hear it works for all beariants.
Kudos for this! Felt odd to me as well that you couldn't do patchwork on this armor like all the others.
Thank you! This made no sense to me when I discovered it as well!
