This is a code mod that does the necessary work to add the labeled trunk that was already in the game files as a shape and texture but not a full block. It also adds a recipe to turn labeled chests back into a regular chest and a sign.
It has compatibility with the labeled containers mod fixing a couple of bugs in the code related to it always saying "Chest contents" when you were looking at a container with no text on the label even if it wasn't a chest and the text rendering in the wrong spot on the labeled baskets.

I changed the code to inherit and patch stuff in a way that it no longer needs to create so many new classes, fixing the bug from the comment and also making it so it should have fewer issues being compatible with other mods. | ||||||

pizza2004 Would you be able to look into it or make the mod open source so I or somebody else can try to find a fix?
The mod breaks all chest labels in game version 1.21.4
None of the labels are showing. Even for other modded labelled containers.
ValariaLyte Seems to be working fine on 1.21.
Will this be updated for 1.21?
Hyper I'm not entirely sure how to add that, honestly. I imagine I'd have to do a patch for when Carry On is installed. Perhaps if I have to update this for 1.21 I might change it. And yeah I can't really do anything useful about the font size issue, sorry.
I'm very grateful for this mod and the patches it includes for Dana's mod too. It's wonderful to have so many containers labeled.
Could you consider adding the "Carryable" behaviour to your labeled trunk? It's not currently possible to carry the labeled trunk via the Carry On mod even with vanilla trunk carrying enabled in its config and I believe this missing block behaviour is to blame. I did try to add "block/wood/trunk/normal-sign" to Carry-On's "AllowedShapeOnlyMatches" array but that did not do the trick unfortunately.
I also noticed that the font size for labeled containers is not saved across world reloads but this is also true for the vanilla labeled chest so it may be out of your hands.

Am looking for a way to remove the sign from my labelled chests to turn them into trunks. Didn't realize that would be a permanent fixture when I put the signs on. The description of this mod says there's a recipe to remove the sign, but am struggling to figure out what that recipe is. Help me out here?
Edit: Nm...I'm a dunce. Forgot I could check the recipes in the 'h' menu.
P.S. Thank you for this mod, btw. Haven't seen another one with this simple fix on an annoying problem.
Penacle I'm not surprised. Dana would need to add support for this mod to Vanilla Variants.
I don't think this mod works with Vanilla Variants, as it only seems to work with the basic vanilla trunk/chest instead of the wood-typed trunks/chests.
jabes It should just be a sign and a trunk I believe? I think the last time I tried it you put the sign under the trunk?

TedTheAtheist You crafted the trunk in the grid by combining the trunk with a sign instead of just placing the sign onto the front of the trunk, right?
How do I put the label in the middle like that? It wants to go to the right or left.
Falco Just uploaded 1.0.3 to fix that issue!
Adding this mod changes metal chunk + hammer recipies to always yield 1 copper nugget rather than the correct amount of metal nuggets.
This is a great mod.
If possible, it might be easier to use if it could be labeled on the side of one square.
