THIS MOD IS JUST A TEXTURE PACK, SO IT HAS NO PERFORMANCE IMPACT.
As of VS version 1.20, we have been exposed to much more jonas technology, including "new" jonas technology that is not weathered due to age. The new jonas machinery and craftables such as the terminus teleporter utilize this new, factory fresh jonas pallete, but items such as the night vision mask or the rift ward do not. Instead, they use the outdated, weathered jonas pallete, which doesn't make sense given the fact that they are being crafted brand new. I have taken it upon myself to do an entire refresh of the jonas items in the game in order to do two things.
This mod retextures all jonas machines the player can craft based on two core principles:
1. Thematic consistency
The various devices that can be crafted by the player have completely different palletes. Items like the nght vision mask and rift ward use the "weathered" jonas tech pallete, while new items such as the terminus teleporter use the new, factory fresh jonas pallete that was established in 1.20. I believe that all jonas devices which are crafted by the player should use this new pallete to have a conisistent theme across all jonas devices regardless of how recently they were implemented.
2. Gameplay cohesion
Several jonas devices have an appearance that does not reflect the materials used to craft them (The rift ward recipe uses no wood, yet the device is primarily made of wood, the night vision mask uses no leather but contains a leather cap, etc). In addition to creating a cohesive appearance between the devices, I also tried to make the devices simultaneously reflect their crafting recipe slightly better.
Current changes:
Night vision mask:
1. Total retexture to match new pallete
2. Slight modification to some textures to better match crafting recipe
3. Tweaks to the shape of the object to better reflect quantity of materials used to craft it, as well as removing clipping
4. Added glow
Base return teleporter:
1. Total retexture of deployed form to match the item form (For god knows what reason, the deployed version uses the weathered pallete, while the item uses the new pallete in vanilla???)
2. Tweaks to the textures to fix overlapping decals
3. Added glow
Rift ward:
1. Total retexture to match new pallete
2. extensive modification to textures to better match crafting recipe
3. Improved glow
Rift ward mini (Not avaliable as of 1.20, but exists in game files):
1. Total retexture to match new pallete
2. extensive modification to textures to better match crafting recipe
Resonator:
1. Total retexture to match new pallete
2. Slight modification to some textures to better match crafting recipe
3. Left the wood textured base as its kind of iconic at this point (Also nothing else looked good)
Library resonator:
1. This thing is ancient and should look as such. No retexture
2. Touched up a clipping issue on the handle
Tuning cylinders:
1. Slight modification to make them use the aged wood type instead of ebony. Almost impossible to notice
2. Made the texture resemble real world music cylinders somewhat
Tuning spear:
- Total retexture to match new pallete
- Added glow
Lightning Rod:
- Slight retexture (This thing just looked completely untextured. Added some texture to make it look lightning scorched)
Terminus Teleporter:
1. Minor touch up
Boiler and Condenser:
1. Total retexture
2. extensive modification to shape of condenser. (Where the hell does that log even come from...?)
Future additions:
The devs seem pretty consistent with the Jonas devices going forward. I don't think I'll need to retexture anything new.
If there's something you think I should modify or something I missed, let me know in the comments and I'll probably modify it.
Compatibility:
This mod is a retexture. As far as I know there isn't any incompatibility. I personally use this with better jonas devices and I have no issue.

_Ale1ster Cheers man, haha.
Is there anything you think wasn't up to par with the mod that I can improve?
I was not going to get it and then I saw the NV helmet and now I am going to get it.
prototype464 Thanks!
Cool mod!
icehorse That's also kind of like my headcanon as well. I think the reason why we use temporal gears as fuel is not because we use them like a battery, but rather we "rewind" the machine's internal power structure to how it was when it was brand new. Imagine taking a single use battery and reverting it to being charged again. I will try to fix it though in the future.
A_Whisper no worries or hurry, my headcanon is that the discharged teleporter looks old because teleporting fries all the paint off and the temporal gear restores it to how it looked when you first built it
good work
icehorse I'm still fairly new to modding, and I don't know how to patch other mods yet. I've already created textures for the discharged teleporter, but I don't know how to implement it.
I'm looking into it, but for the time being, the two mods are compatible, even if the discharged teleporter looks vanilla.
Oh this is cool
You say you use better jonas devices, was it intentional that the discharged base return teleporter has the old texture instead of ur new texture?
Nyphra You can't stop the rumble of scientific triumph!
Oh that mask reference is eeeevil but it fits so well, I love it lmao
justOmi I'm glad you like it!
ShyishHazard Of course a large part of it will be preference, I can't make it perfect for everyone. The justification for the NV mask was that you only use one lens in the crafting recipe, so I wasn't quite sure where the other two appear from, haha.
Looks perfect
aww, I actually liked the three goggles on the night-vision mask, but it's still cool like this and the other retextures more than make up for the loss of preference, nice work!
A_Whisper ohhhh I legit never noticed the circuit in vanilla LMAO. also thank you my immersion is now satisfied but wtf uranium in vanilla? geez. maybe thats what they planned to use the currently useless uranium ore for...? also i deadass had no idea that wasnt just an alt skin for the artificer sdjflsjdklhfsjkhdfkjlf its so low res
Aloy Don't worry, I kept the copper of the rift ward recipe in mind. If you boot up a world and activate a rift ward, you'll see that under the flaps, there is copper! (In the vanilla rift ward textures, down there is.... URANIUM?! The vanilla rift ward is all over the place, it gave me such a headache trying to figure out why on god's green earth they decided to make it look like that). As for why the prongs are silver instead of copper, that's to satisfy the thematic consistency bit. The resonator has those silver prongs and it felt fitting to have a cohesive aesthetic.
As for the resonator, I haven't changed the decals on it, that circuit texture is vanilla. The image shows the old resonator texture that had that musical decal that doesn't exit anymore.
You're actually the second person to be reminded of the artificer from RoR2, haha. My actual inspiration was Bondrewd's mask from Made in Abyss, though. You can actually see him in a corner of the image.
Peak immersion- but the rift ward needs some coppery bits for all the plates and nails- im pretty sure the prongs sticking out are supposed to be copper, at least maybe some "bolts" painted onto the legs? and idk about the circuit texture on the base of record player thing- otherwise 10/10 immersion i love it
edit: was the mask inspired by the Risk of Rain 2 Artificer?
